Don't get me wrong she can sing but people are saying they were "sobbing" at the power of new song. I don't get the hype about her

I was hoping for something really good from her.
First time I was engaged I decided that I wanted one of her songs for the first dance, six years later, I stumbled upon another of her songs as an accident, which was then my wedding song.
Having heard about this song several times today I thought it would make me feel a bit emotional... Nope, no. Disappointed in this song.

notquitehuman · 23/10/2015 19:44

I did love Rolling in the Deep, but most of her songs sound pretty bland. The sort of music that'd be on the advert for a bank or something to show how lovely and friendly they are. It's radio music though. It's OK for the background or for people's first dance at a wedding, but that's about it.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 23/10/2015 19:46

I heard it too and thought 'how is that making people cry?' I don't get it.

I'm as soft as they come, blub like a baby at the drop of a hat (I Wasn't Expecting That gets me every time Blush ) but this song did nothing for me.

I just imagined him going "who, oh yeah, Adele, I remember you from years ago. Er no, I don't want to talk about it, I'm over it thanks, it was years ago".

Dollymixtureyumyum · 23/10/2015 19:47

Not a fan here either
Has anyone been to one of her concerts I just can't imagine them to be that good and can't imagine her entertaining

DisappointedOne · 23/10/2015 20:04

If any of you bothered listening to her interview with Chris Evans the song has nothing to do with any ex!

Sparklingbrook · 23/10/2015 20:05

I never listen to Chris Evans.

catbally · 23/10/2015 20:18

The likes of Adele have audiences but I much prefer something like Ibeyi Unfortunately they are completely overlooked by Rhianna, Beyoncé, etc who have big labels backing them. When you look around there are some amazing female singers.

wasonthelist · 23/10/2015 20:21

Yanbu

mewkins · 23/10/2015 20:25

The only thing I liked was when she covered Dylan. Everytging else....meh. She became far too bland far too quickly imo. Yawn.

73dexter · 23/10/2015 20:26

The video looked like it was her talking about an ex though. What is it supposed to be about?Hmm

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 23/10/2015 20:27

Love her. That is all Grin

ElizabethG81 · 23/10/2015 20:28

She seems like a nice enough woman, and I loved "21" the first few times I heard it, then found it tediously boring (except "Rolling in the deep", which I still like). There doesn't seem to have been any evolution since the last album though - I heard the new song this morning and just thought "haven't we been over this before?"

SacredHeart · 23/10/2015 20:42

Plus, I cannot think of Adele without thinking of this now...

catbally · 23/10/2015 20:47

And another one to listen to is Andreya Triana. There is so much out there other than the mainstream. I've got no connection to her, just love her voice and music

kinkytoes · 23/10/2015 20:47

Nope I don't get it either. I don't even think she's got a good voice. I switch over whenever she's on the radio.

73dexter · 23/10/2015 21:02

I think she has a nice voice and does look gorgeous in the vid but I'm not really into angsty songs. I do love a bit of crap soft rock.

Piratepete1 · 23/10/2015 21:13

I couldn't stop watching all the face clutching she was doing Confused

Vinorosso74 · 23/10/2015 21:15

Not my cup of tea either find her stuff too bland.

Piratepete1 · 23/10/2015 21:15

Oh and my friend went to a concert. Apparently she was a bit barmy and did a lot of talking about nonsense

gobbin · 23/10/2015 21:26

Can't stand her voice - a honking shout thrown from the back of her throat, constantly. She may well be a lovely person, just have to turn her off when I hear her.

that's^^ what the hamster thinks of Adele

yeOldeTrout · 23/10/2015 21:38

Adele I quite like. But Amy Winehouse, omg, dull & screechy as dishwater.

Jelly101 · 23/10/2015 21:45

I don't get the big fuss either Hmm

Bambambini · 23/10/2015 22:09

Never really listened to her in a big way though like a few of her hits. I do like that she's not a prancing arse in your face Beyoncé type or I'm a bad girl with few clothes on like Rihanna. Heard some of her interview today and she came over as intelligent and sincere - it was interesting. The song is about her trying to reach out to really just people in her life who she cares about but life has just got in the way and folk grow apart a little - As far as I could make out anyway.
.

PorcupineNecktie · 23/10/2015 22:10

Oh yes catbally Ibeyi are brilliant!

I don't get the Adele hype either.
