A Load of fireworks have just gone off, my baby woke up crying, I've raced out of the house to the house where they were being Let off, I said "if you let one more firework off before the 5th november" I'll shove that firework so far up your arse ?? now three dogs in the street are howling, my cat has gone in hiding and I need to comfort my son!!

I don't think YA being fully U. I'm in the minority that thinks fireworks should be organised display only, not for purchase by the general public. I LOVE fireworks but I get incredibly annoyed by kids letting random ones off at stupid o'clock for weeks preceding and after. Needs to be tighter control I think.

You shouldn't have shouted, although I understand your annoyance.

QuintShhhhhh · 16/10/2015 08:11

But if it's not celebrated where I live then of course I wouldn't know what it is!

Do you know who David Cameron is? The Pope? Do they live where you live?

Do you know there are other countries than Britain? Are they where you live?

Have you ever heard about elephants?

Do you really only know what you see around yourself in your daily life? I dont believe that!

Binkybix · 16/10/2015 08:25

YWU to shout so aggressively. But I agree that people who have fireworks of their own in built up areas late at night (ie not on this instance) are generally rude wankersAnd also here the argument 'well, it's not illegal.

How do you know they weren't being set off for a birthday / wedding anniversary

What kind of me, me, me drama queen wants fireworks for their birthday or wedding anniversary?

Binkybix · 16/10/2015 08:26

Actually, I would like fireworks for my birthday because I love them, but I wouldn't because it would be rude to my neighbours.

Shutthatdoor · 16/10/2015 08:43

Next time I have surgery, or take a plane for example, I hope the surgeon/ pilot etc.. has not been disturbed by selfish neighbours.

Nobody should make noise during the day, either then and children should be quiet etc as surgeons and pilots don't just work during the day. Wink

ARE YOU TEN!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! GET A GRIP!!!! She didn't know what diwali was...she does now.... it's none of your fucking business what she or anyone does or doesn't know and if you care so much explain kindly what it is. What a pack of bullies. Is that how you expect people to treat you and your kids?? To laugh and act all incredulous at their lack of knowledge. Vile!

QuintShhhhhh · 16/10/2015 08:53

Really ShutThatDoor?

I would be more concerned that the surgeon could be on the tail end of a 24 hour shift, that he was so overworked due to NHS staffing levels that he had been on sleeping duty the last week and had constant interruptions.

Not a one off firework display before 11 pm!

Talk of making a molehill into a mountain, in a full cup of water. Hmm

QuintShhhhhh · 16/10/2015 08:56

I did not throw personal insults to OP, and I did not comment on her knowledge of Diwali, I just dont believe her statement that she only knows what she experiences in her local area. Of course she knows more! And that was the point I was trying to make.

I think, Crabbitface, you are a bit of a bully yourself, which your response to me proves.

RufusTheReindeer · 16/10/2015 08:58

Agree with crabbits last post

I'm sure there are loads of traditions and celebrations that some of us have never heard of

As it happens i did know about Diwali but not how and why its celebrated...just that it is

Shutthatdoor · 16/10/2015 09:08

Quint my response was to the poster who I quoted who was saying about 9pm deadlines and getting sleep.

There was also a wink after my post.

Not sure why you are jumping on me Hmm

Crabbitface · 16/10/2015 09:23

So when someone pulls you up for bullying behaviour your reaction is "No you're a bully!" - yeah good one Quintshhhhhh . Was it entirely necessary for you to ask her what an elephant was ? You were trying to make her look and feel stupid....which is bullying behaviour. If you don't want to be accused of being mean - don't be mean. There was no need. Op had already addressed all questions about her perceived ignorance on the subject but some people just can't seem to accept that not everyone in the world has the same breadth and depth of general knowledge.

SussexBonfireViking · 16/10/2015 09:26

reading through, i dont think the OP over-reacted by shouting at them.

Seriously have none of you suggesting chocolates never shouted out the window at someone being annoying? I know I have, (mainly people chatting loudly outside my window in the middle of the night - totally outing myself now to ANYONE who knows me)

There is a time and a place for firework displays, and they are organised ones! if you're desperate to see some - come to Sussex on a Saturday night between Sep and Dec!

SistersOfPercy · 16/10/2015 10:06

Offering some advice for dog owners a second.
If you look on YouTube there is a fireworks sound video that's about half an hour long. If you have a dog play this daily starting at a lower volume and gradually building to a loud firework display.

This technique worked brilliantly with mums dog who would go mad at the first crackle. Now he doesn't even lift his head from the sofa at the noise

isitthattimealreadyisit · 16/10/2015 13:55

Shutthatdoor

Unlike the other poster, I did get the irony Grin

Actually, I do believe that if you live in a community, you should respect your neighbours, and would not allow my kids to make an absolute racket just because it's middle of the day, neither would I listen to loud music with all my windows open. Isn't that just basic manners?

However, there's less issue about fireworks in the middle of the day.

QuintShhhhhh The fact that there are problems somewhere (NHS or other) doesn't give the right for inconsiderate, ignorant and ill-mannered neighbours to make it worst.
