To think this is racist?

At work today, a new member of staff asked who X was. Someone else said 'she works with Y, in that office, black curly hair...'

New member of staff still didn't know so I pointed out 'she's black' (she's the only black member of staff!)

Is it racist to be skirting round describing her as black, as the other staff did?

It's only racist if you think being described as black is somehow bad or inferior.

Why would it be?

BigOCupOfTea · 15/10/2015 00:28

How would that every cause offence?

I would never in a million years be offended if someone giving a description about me said "she's white"

Because I am fucking white.

If I got called that honky over there then yeah I'd be offended.

There's too much real racism in the world to get hung over something as simple as stating a fact.
