Let's solve most of AIBU

Situation 1) A mum / a friend / a person you saw in the street is doing things in a way that you wouldn't. Their actions have no bearing on your life.

Ignore it and move on with your life, don't waste precious hours worrying about it.

Situation 2) Your normally reasonable other half has been doing something you don't like.

Decide if you can live with it, and if you can't, talk to him politely and like an adult, and work with them to resolve it.

Honestly, so many threads here would be so much easier if people weren't getting so worked up over the trivial annoyances that make up part of life. Not being so bloody nosy would also help Wink

And AIBU used to be about the trivial annoyances of life. Sometimes it was really funny

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 18:01

AIBU exists for the same reason Jeremy Kyle, the Coliseum, and public flogging do.

This. With bells on.

OwlinaTree · 11/10/2015 18:21

Amazes me how many people are saying they hate AIBU but are then posting here.

Best way to close it down... Stop using it!

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 18:26

That's not logical.

I don't understand binky. If everyone stops buying a thing/watching a thing/using a thing there's no demand for it and it disappears.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 11/10/2015 19:54

The opening questions can, at times, be a little redundant but I think that’s more than equalled out by the self-selecting respondents who wouldn’t know a reasonable response if in slapped them around the face in the style of a wet kipper.

TheExMotherInLaw · 11/10/2015 19:56

I love petty AIBUs! It's what teabreaks were invented for!
(especially as I sat down her to write my own)

TiggyD · 11/10/2015 20:06

Ooh! I got a really petty one. I'll just go and post it.

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 20:09

Owl, you're telling people not to post on this thread though just because it's in AIBU.

And that that will solve the problem. It won't.

If people stopped using AIBU generally in a wider sense then yes it would probably stop being something MNHQ wanted to keep.

But that ain't going to happen, and so we need to find another way, and this thread is part of it, a small part yes but at least people are talking about getting rid of it.

It's a bit like saying, we need to stop using cars, everyone should use a bike...everyone stop using cars immediately, even to get to meetings about how to enable the new system!

Can you see what I'm saying?

My petty AIBU is trending! Grin

OwlinaTree · 11/10/2015 21:05

Well it's hardly the same thing is it binky? I'm not telling people not to post on this thread, everybody can post whatever they like. What I am amazed at is that people are on here posting in AIBU about how much they dislike AIBU. If I dislike some forum or chat room I don't use it. If it offends me I complain.

I don't give it traffic.

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:15

I don't think you really understand and I haven't the strength to explain it again, so I think perhaps we should leave it at that.

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2015 21:17

I don't dislike it. It's a joke topic. I am permanently amazed at what is posted. Grin

Mehitabel6 · 11/10/2015 21:29

I don't dislike it- I always start there. Sparklingbrook is right- quite often amazed at how oddly people behave.

OwlinaTree · 11/10/2015 21:34

No need to speak to me like a child because we disagree binky. Keep it civil.

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:36

I'm being straight with you. Take it at face value. I am knackered and going to bed shortly.

Can we just agree to disagree?

OwlinaTree · 11/10/2015 21:41

I'm happy to do that, why didn't you just say that?

BinkyandFlip · 11/10/2015 21:43

I thought I had.

Lweji · 11/10/2015 22:57

Of course if I was in charge everything would be in the correct topic, there would be no need for aibu, and all would be right with the world.

You should be on the other site. Apparently they give strikes for not posting in the right topic.

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2015 23:01

Most people who post in AIBU don't want to post in the correct topic because when youare going to be petty/attention seeking/ goady/shocking you want a lot of clicks in a short time.

The other site is starting to look quite appealing TBF. Grin

Mrsjayy · 11/10/2015 23:02

Some folk just like a moan really and is it not better being ripped to shreds told by randoms than arguing with friend/partner/the inlaws

Sparklingbrook · 11/10/2015 23:04

I bet if they asked their nearest and dearest the AIBU they would look at them with a Hmm face and say 'WTF'. Grin

Mrsjayy · 11/10/2015 23:08

I said AIBU out loud once to somebody at work it was about kiddy tables i got exactly that face Blush
