That the "popular" posters on here are often rude.

I won't mention names but some of them seem to be popular for....not a lot really. Certain people come to mind who have a reputation for being straight talking and funny but most of the time I don't see it. I find them rather disagreeable tbh. Is it just me?

I gave up on my pelvic floor after big headed ds2 was born.

If you tried to bounce your car keys you'd probably lose them up there tbh

Sparklingbrook · 08/10/2015 18:37

DS2 thought it would be funny to arrive on his due date after a 35 minute labour. First and last time he was speedy and on time for anything. Angry
Pelvic floor still ok.

MrsKoala · 08/10/2015 18:44

Well, my trampolining days are definitely over.

exLtEveDallas · 08/10/2015 18:47

I used to be prolific, but then I had to go and get a proper job, where MNing all day would be frowned upon. Don't think I was ever popular though.

I'm often rude, but only to people that I think deserve it. I'm on a few shit lists I expect, but that's probably more to do with my old job rather than me being a asshole (I hope).

Bloody lovely to see some of my missed posters here today - even if the thread was a wank idea at least it's bought the 'special ones' out of the closet....(wondering if I can tempt DBF to post with that)

clam · 08/10/2015 18:47

What's worse? To be one of the popular ruse posters the OP is bitchily mysteriously alluding to, or one that no one has a fucking clue who they are?

ShutTheFuckUp · 08/10/2015 18:50

It's just you OP

Sparklingbrook · 08/10/2015 18:52

I guess I might be described as 'prolific', but it wasn't a plan or anything. I didn't sit down in 2011 and think 'I will join MN and be prolific'.
I just post a lot sometimes. I used to start a lot of threads when people were friendlier, but I rarely do now. Not worth the hassle.

SkandiStyle · 08/10/2015 18:54

LtEve you are quite possibly one of my favouritest posters ever, as you well know

I like everyone except poisonous miseries who don't like friendship

SkandiStyle · 08/10/2015 18:59

"I like everyone except poisonous miseries who don't like friendship"

Quite. And even worse don't seem to understand the concept of friendship or the fact that people can enjoy a bit of light-hearted, meaningless bantaaaar and it's really not done to either include or exclude anyone. It really isn't.

Senpai · 08/10/2015 19:01

I don't know many popular people here that are rude. A few are blunt, but for the most part they're nice enough.

There's a few obnoxious unpleasant posters on here who like pollinating every MN thread with their cringe-worthy social awkwardness. But.. does anyone truly take them that seriously? It's sort of like watching someone throw a tantrum because some poor sod got their order wrong. Entertaining to watch, but not someone who's opinion on the restaurant is of any substance.

Just chat with posters who are nice. No one is forcing you to interact or continue reading a thread that's making you bang your head against a wall. I hide plenty of pointless threads.

SurferJet · 08/10/2015 19:01

Today 15:00 Bambambini

What do you think the shelf life is for Mn? Maybe I've been on here too long, it just seems dull and weak compared to the golden days when I was a young pup enthralled by it's sheer brilliance. My golden days are when Bupckakes, Fabbychic, Getorf, LeQueen, LOTM, Scottishmummy, Daftpunk, sassysusan and Dittany walked anomgst us. Didn't have to like them all but it was never dull.

this.

MN is too grey now, no characters at all.

SkandiStyle · 08/10/2015 19:03

Infact, when I look back, all misty-eyed and nostalgic, it was threads very like this one that first drew me to MN.

Lively, fast moving, and with dozens of posters having vaguely similar but often individual chats running alongside the main thread. With lots of tangents and comments apropos of nothing in particular.

Just very nice and easy and essentially pointless, but lots of fun

Very true surfer.

MN used to be a pair of slinky, hot pink Brazillian briefs...now it's all too often a pair of Sloggis that have gone bandage-grey in the wash (and yes, the elastic is starting to go, too).

But it's nice to be remembered even if just for one night Wink

Senpai · 08/10/2015 19:08

I joined about a year and a half ago. It was more fun when I first joined because it was a novelty that a forum actually allowed cursing, snarking, and was generally uncensored.

Now that the novelty has worn off, I stick around to chat because it's just a nice way to kill boredom.

Lurk loads more than I post now Confused. It's just not worth the hassle anymore.

Plus my trusty, steam-powered PC finally died over the summer, so now have to log on via my mobile which takes ages to load long threads like this one. So often I. Just. Can't. Be. Arsed.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/10/2015 19:21

I've wandered into a few of these threads where people who know each other are having a good time and stuck my oar in, and those people have ALWAYS been nice and probably not condescending.
