His conference speeches point to this possibility Shock.

And what's with the 3 nuclear reactors courtesy of the Chinese? Can someone enlighten me as to why this is a good idea??

YANBU - not least because of my desire to put my foot through the telly whenever he appears... Angry

And, like you, I find the idea of putting our nuclear power (and our energy supply) into the hands of a foreign power (ANY foreign power) weird in the extreme - it's bad enough that lots of our gas comes from Russia, but why it's a good idea to ignore all the expertise in this country (not to mention the employment/taxes that would be generated) and hand our nuclear power construction over to China I cannot imagine Hmm

Muckogy · 06/10/2015 15:14

he's awful. he's only interested in feathering the nests of the very wealthy.

wasonthelist · 06/10/2015 15:22

YANBU Gideon makes me think David Icke might be right. Don't think the Tories would elect him leader.

Samcro · 06/10/2015 15:23

YaNby he makes even scameron seem better and they are both vile

MissEeerie · 06/10/2015 15:28

YANBU. It's terrifying. As if it wasn't scary enough being alive right now.

Lottapianos · 06/10/2015 15:31

He's hideous. So is Cameron though. And Hunt. And lets not go there with Boris. None of them have a clue how regular folk live in this country, and they don't care to know either. They all disgust me.

Jeremy Corbyn says he wants an end to homelessness and people relying on food banks and being afraid to turn the heating on and he gets crucified for it (in some quarters). Its all a bit terrifying.

Ricardian · 06/10/2015 15:36

Well, good thing that we in the Labour Party have a clearly electable leader who has surrounded himself with other clearly electable senior politicians, notable for their experience, wisdom and - above all - clear track record of popular policies supported by the electorate at large, so that Gideon has no chance of being Prime Minister. The Tories won't be able to campaign on our leadership's past record on things like terrorism, national security and foreign policy, and will instead have to engage with our clearly articulated policies whose intellectual strength and popular support makes them unanswerable. You only have to look at the polls to see what's going to happen in 2020, don't you?

Oh God. It's going to be a fucking Tory governments for the next 20 years

GiddyOnZackHunt · 06/10/2015 15:38

Yanbu. My username tells you what I think

EponasWildDaughter · 06/10/2015 15:44

He always looks like a sweaty, pasty faced public school boy to me. Slightly shifty, defensive and liable to being nasty.

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 06/10/2015 15:56

Well, we need nukes to provide power so we're not reliant on other people's gas supplies or the (fickle) weather.

I'd rather we were building our own though....

As for Gorgeous George, I'd rather Boris got in any day.....

expatinscotland · 06/10/2015 15:59

The man is the highest order of dicksmack going.

Is his name actually Gideon then? Why has he changed his name to George? Is it an attempt to make us think he's just a normal bloke and not some posh twat from an over privileged background?

Tiredemma · 06/10/2015 16:04

"Jeremy Corbyn says he wants an end to homelessness and people relying on food banks and being afraid to turn the heating on and he gets crucified for it (in some quarters). Its all a bit terrifying"

agree- when I made a comment ( a good comment) about him on FB earlier today some twat told me to 'ride (my) rickety bike to the nearest allotment and save the world from there)

I dont have an allotment and I dont have a bike - its interesting their perception of me just because I agree with some of JC's ideas.

Tiredemma · 06/10/2015 16:05

Rhine- yes, changed when he was 14 as he didnt like it.

'I dont have an allotment and I dont have a bike - its interesting their perception of me just because I agree with some of JC's ideas.'

It's the usual hard-of-thinking brigade. They're everywhere. Can only wrap their tiny little pea brains around tiresome cliches instead of having a reasonable discussion or debate. Jeremy Corbyn's a vegetarian you know. And wears a vest. And has a beard. And he's teetotal. And he rides a bike. And goes running. For fun. What a weirdo. Everything he says must be mental Hmm

I do wish those anti-austerity muppets who've been screaming and spittting at people outside the Tory conference would pack it in though. Its playing into the media's hands, painting all of us as wild eyed hooligans

Yes, in the same way, and for the same reason, that Anthony Wedgwood-Benn, Viscount Stansgate to the tradesmen, renamed himself.

MephistophelesApprentice · 06/10/2015 16:11

He'll be the Tory Gordon Brown, I'm sure.

Cameron is a politician - he does politics and sadly (from the perspective of those concerned with equality) he does it very well. But Osbourne is as ideologically committed as Gordon Brown was, and if in power will make the same blind mistakes based on his beliefs rather than facts. It will be horrible for anyone vulnerable - women, children, the sick or poor - but I doubt the public would accept the horror for more than one term.

Ricardian · 06/10/2015 16:14

Why do you think that the Tories are perfectly happy to leave them to it? Because they're recording all the footage off the TV to use in the 2020 Party Electoral Broadcast.

scarlets · 06/10/2015 16:15

The Conseevatives are likely to win in 2020 so whoever gets the leadership is almost certainly going to be PM. Much as I found Corbynmania interesting and engaging, I wish that the opposition were stronger, with a credible and economically literate leader. It makes for better politics, IMO - I am a floating voter. The current government can pretty much do what it wants, and elect a goat with a blue ribbon as leader if desired. How depressing. I truly hope I'm not right though.

George Osborne was openly pro same-sex marriage long before it was fashionable to be so. I'll give him credit for that, and a few other things (HMRC has an increased enforcement budget). But these welfare cuts - wow - they are brutal in their suddenness. There will be genuine misery next year.

sugar21 · 06/10/2015 16:19

The man is a twunt of the highest order of twunts, Call me Dave also being a member along with Jerimiah Crunt. How these elitist specimens can live with themselves I dont know. How many families are going to really suffer when the tc cuts hit? Well it won't be Gideons will it?
We have our Junior Drs being shafted, our teachers leaving in their droves, and the Country being sold by the £
If Gideon gets to be PM there will be no Drs or teachers left as they'll all have emigrated which isn't a bad idea.
Please treat the r in Crunt as silent.

Lottapianos · 06/10/2015 16:20

And that's exactly why I want them to stop Ricardian! Like I said, playing into their hands by behaving like a bunch of thugs. No-one is more anti-Boris Johnson than me but seriously - throwing stuff at him when he was on his way into the conference centre? Not cool
