To dislike "Radical Feminism"

InternetPerson · 25/09/2015 21:15

I've got nothing against feminists that fight for womens rights and genuinely want the best the best for everyone and don't hate anyone, but "RadFems" tend to be full of bitterness and hatred. And I'm not just talking about kids, these are high profile, intelligent women with power and influence. Do you think it's unreasonable to dislike something where most people think men are inherantly evil and to be feared? Or do you think their hatred is fair and we should respect them for their good work in trying to make humans hate eath other even more?

Like, I said, I have nothing against Feminism, it's done a lot of great work down the years and still does, but "Rad Fem" and "Feminism" are too completly different things in my opinion. Is this a wrong conclusion?

aggressive elite? like some sort of illuminati fight club? sounds great, where do i sign up?

Autumnnights1 · 25/09/2015 22:21

Leaves thread due to women wanting the same things yet fighting each other Sad

Houseofmirth66 · 25/09/2015 22:22

Rad fems? I've joined the women's equality party which is full of people (men and women) who believe that equality benefits all individuals, families and societies. They are positive, inspiring, inclusive and really fun too. I do think that the motion of the man hating feminist is a bit of a myth nowadays. And that's why we're seeing such a surge in feminist thoughts and ideas.

You say "radical" anything and you automatically get most peoples backs up.

Oh, gosh. That's us told. I guess we need to expunge the word from the English language.

ghostyslovesheep · 25/09/2015 22:25

honestly you seem to be doing all the fighting Autumn - Buffy doesn't really deserve the 9th degree - she's just a feminist on a thread not the oracle

Autumnnights1 · 25/09/2015 22:25

sighs.

MaudGonneMad · 25/09/2015 22:27

Only the OP and you, Autumn appear to be fighting. Confused

Autumnnights1 · 25/09/2015 22:29

I clearly stated that "radical" sounds aggressive, that was all I stated. Please dont turn things round. Im not a believer in bun fighting sisterhood.

Burnet · 25/09/2015 22:31

Answering the title of your thread I'd say... Nobody is 'unreasonable' to dislike any political theory.
It's not for you, fair enough. We are all different. Peace!

But then your post is just goady nonsense.

(I don't know enough about feminism to know what sort I am.)

howtorebuild · 25/09/2015 22:31

I didn't join the WEP, though I get regular emails, great progress in my opinion.

Tirfarthoinn · 25/09/2015 22:33

Hang on , I'm confused, is Autumnight1 the OP?

Borka · 25/09/2015 22:33

But 'radical' doesn't sound aggressive in all contexts, does it?

We need a radical restructure of the department.

The city has a radical approach to public transport.

I've made some radical changes to my chocolate fudge cake recipe.

People only think it sounds aggressive in the context of feminism because that's how radical feminists are portrayed by those who want to silence them.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 25/09/2015 22:38

Autumn it really isn't feminists' problem if lots of people misunderstand the concept of radical thought.

BathtimeFunkster · 25/09/2015 22:39

Mmmm Radish Feminism.

I could definitely get behind a peppery crunchy movement like that.

Burnet · 25/09/2015 22:41

I hate radishes and frankly I think radish feminists are deluded weirdos.

Radish seems plausible - it's a root vegetable after all.

SenecaFalls · 25/09/2015 22:42

Burnet Here is one test that purports to help you determine what kind of feminist you are. It's a bit US-centric, so some of the questions may not apply, depending on one's culture, but it's interesting to take.

celery is slightly penis like (well it's stiff and long) so obviously being a feminist I hates all men so couldn't eat it - sorry
