To dislike "Radical Feminism"

InternetPerson · 25/09/2015 21:15

I've got nothing against feminists that fight for womens rights and genuinely want the best the best for everyone and don't hate anyone, but "RadFems" tend to be full of bitterness and hatred. And I'm not just talking about kids, these are high profile, intelligent women with power and influence. Do you think it's unreasonable to dislike something where most people think men are inherantly evil and to be feared? Or do you think their hatred is fair and we should respect them for their good work in trying to make humans hate eath other even more?

Like, I said, I have nothing against Feminism, it's done a lot of great work down the years and still does, but "Rad Fem" and "Feminism" are too completly different things in my opinion. Is this a wrong conclusion?

If you need to do anything its smash religion, not other women.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 27/09/2015 18:00

So what would you compromise on? What issues do you think can be improved by compromise?

And after accusing a whole board of being PA, you might want to slow down on the smileys...

DiscoGoGo · 27/09/2015 18:01

Ah just seen the last post.

hahaha at slavery Confused

OK well then that kind of confirms what I was thinking.

LurcioAgain · 27/09/2015 18:02

Agree Maude, putting a smiley face and "oh behave" after a comment about Yaziki women being sold into slavery is one of the most shocking comments I've seen on here. Autumn - you have just shown yourself to be completely incapable of civilized discourse and I for one will not bother to read any more of your posts because your views are totally fucking inhumane.

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:02

I was talking in normal home grown terms by the way.

If we need to use our anger it should be about religion. That's what needs to be smashed to smitherines. It is the most man made thing I have ever come across.

Oh come now ladies...

We all know that men will let us have power and everything, if only we can compromise and ask nicely enough.

Why didn't we all think of this sooner?

Would certainly save on the wear and tear on dungarees, DMs and getting my head shaved....

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:06

It is about compromise and speaking as normal human beings. I have no problem in stating what I want.

Lets get to religion. Are any of you religious? if so why?

PlaysWellWithOthers · 27/09/2015 18:08

No, let's not, let's stick with the subject at hand.

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:09

I cannot see why a person under the religion umbrella of suppression of women would be able to even comment in an aggressive woman empowering way.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 27/09/2015 18:11

Can you try that last post again in English? Google translate's not all that good

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:12

try reading it again play.

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:13

I cant understand why any woman would agree to religion when it is man made. Is that better Play?

TheXxed · 27/09/2015 18:13

Yes MrsTerry I saw a news item about that a while ago actually it been brought up again because of the elections.

edition.cnn.com/2015/09/22/asia/afghanistan-boy-abuse-us-military/

This reminded about the lengths an AID worker had to go to in order to get the rape of children in CAR by French soldiers.

www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/04/french-soldiers-accused-raping-car-children-150430031734446.html

Men don't like us talking about sexual violence because it means confronting rape culture which is a by product of masculinity.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 27/09/2015 18:14

What does that have to do with radical feminism?

Given that that is the subject of the thread.

If you want to be goady about religion, might I suggest the fabulous "create thread" button at the top of the page?

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:16

Are you religious Terry, are you religious Xxted? If so, surely that is a paradox?

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:18

Im not being goady at all, which is something people say when they have no other answer by the way, therefore projecting. I cant get over women spouting equality yet entering into a false man made faith.

nooka · 27/09/2015 18:19

Wow, this has to be the most blatant attempt at derailing I've ever seen. It's really a bit pathetic.

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:20

I will listen to someone that actually does not agree with anything man made. I believe in compromise to get somewhere.

JeremyCorbynsStylist · 27/09/2015 18:20

Haven't RTFT but any form of feminism that improves the lives of women is fine by me.
( & doesn't radical just mean getting to the root of something? ) I could be wrong.

But either way, Op: yabu.

almondpudding · 27/09/2015 18:20

What is it that radical feminists believe which is considered extreme?

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:20

Why is it pathetic? if you are a radfem then why do you be governed by a man made faith?

TheXxed · 27/09/2015 18:21

I think religion can be a tool for fighting oppression. You should read 'Do Muslim Women Need Saving? ' by lila Abu lughod.

Autumnnights1 · 27/09/2015 18:22

people cite when slavery was about, why dont they say when it began then?

PlaysWellWithOthers · 27/09/2015 18:22

Yes Jeremy that's curiously satisfying to type

Radical in Radical Feminism does just mean root. ie, we want to get rid of the present patriarchal bullshit and replace it with a system that is fair for everyone, male and female. The fact that as FEMinists we concentrate mainly on the female side of things seems to really upset people.

Can't say that I'm too sorry about that. Being nice doesn't get anything changed, does it?
