To not want to use an Anti-barking collar on my 10 month old pup ?

A neighbour from the back of us has just knocked in to threaten to report my pup for barking ...
I'm home all day with my pups ( i have two cockers) they are mostly kept indoors with me but whenever i let them out to play in the back garden one of them goes nuts barking at everything . He is a very anxious dog , very nervous . I have tried the quick spray of water whenever he barks but this does nothing he carries on running and barking like its a game
Its only for 10 minutes at a time, she says her husband works nights . I was very apologetic
my dogs sleep indoors and are put in bed at 9pm each night .
I'm upset and i rang my local vet & pet store for advice .. option one is very expensive training which we just can not afford right now and the other is an anti barking collar also expensive and cruel IMO :(
Any other ideas ?

^Why on earth should I care whether the dog is dead or not? I wouldn't want it to suffer but it's clearly got rubbish owners. But I'm
just being honest in saying that what matters to me is the absence of the barking and yapping - it's great and hardly an unreasonable expectation.^

Wanting peace and quiet is a fine thing to want.

Disliking an animal to the point of wanting it dead is just ridiculous.

Also, "just being honest" isn't an excuse to be a cunt. You can be honest with tact.

Senpai Agree, there are things that i don't like, but i'd never wish they were dead.

And I would have agreed with you as a true animal lover, before I had a solid year of barking inflicted on me from next door, with an utterly useless council noise department.
Until you've been where I was, arriving home and before the car engine is even off hearing the BARK BARK BARK from the neighbours house, through their closed windows and doors, knowing it would be louder everywhere in my house and garden, and that I could do NOTHING to stop it until the neighbour deigned to come home, you just don't understand what levels of despair it can drive you to.
The poor thing was just distressed and lonely, I could hear it wasn't aggressive barking, but constant painfully loud and persistent barking that WILL NOT STOP meant that feeling sorry for it did not also mean I would have backed any proposed measures to make it stop. The neighbour refused any suggestion of training or other measures, it didnt bark when he was home so he didnt see any need to do anything.

We have a dog that barks at everything ( not us, somebody to the front of us) we also have two neighbours whose alarms go off at the drop off a hat.
It wakes me up and irritates me no end.
I still don't wish an animal dead.

Stormtreader · 28/09/2015 14:06

If you can use the word "irritates" then you have absolutely no idea how bad relentless noise can be.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 28/09/2015 15:03

Storm you've said yourself it was in distress sorry how can you wish a fellow creature that is already suffering dead or as a previous poster put happily poisoned it!

The fault is firstly with the owners and then with the council in your case if the owner refused any sort of help or suggestion of training then the dog should have been rehomes! What Kali was saying is there's lots of relentless human noise that disturbs her sleep! That is just as damaging as dogs barking how is it ok for car and house alarms to be left unattended dilibrately set off in some cases yet a dog and there's people advacating mutilation and poisoning!

kali110 · 28/09/2015 16:50

Yes i use irritate as now i have a disability, i've realised there are much worse things that make my life miserable

kali110 · 28/09/2015 16:51

And try living with a person who hums nearly every second of the day.
That is relentless.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 28/09/2015 18:22

Well that's a very poignant post Kali really there are worse things in life isn't there!

kali110 · 29/09/2015 13:06

I'm really not saying noise nuisance is nothing ( again i lived with a hummer Angry) but now i get more angry and upset that i wake up after only few hours and go to sleep still in pain, that my relationship with my dp is no longer the same and that my friends are no longer around.
