Snide comment from someone else. Wtf should i wear for a professional school drop off? I do live in my PJs and love it while I'm not working. Often have two pairs a day so its not dirty. Aibu to do this?

OP posts:

Most people don't go outside in their nightwear except perhaps to take the milk in. Doing the school run in pyjamas. Shock Clutches pearls. What must the neighbours think.

Woolyheads · 27/09/2015 19:53

Get the kids to school on time. That is your priority. Wear your pjs if you want to or must. Other people thinking what you want to or must wear to do this have their priorities all wrong.

DickDewy · 27/09/2015 19:57

I popped into a Co-op (not relevant) yesterday and thought of this thread.

Woman in the queue was wearing minion (ffs) pyjama bottoms and a (dirty) fleece and uggs. She had 2 small boys with her, they were dressed, after a fashion, but were in socks.

I judged her, whilst clutching my pearls and hoiking my bosom, to be a skank.
And quite possibly unprofessional.

sproketmx · 27/09/2015 20:00

It's quite common round here. No one really bats an eyelid. Tbh I don't have to take my kids to school as it's only two streets away but I think most of the neighbours here are probably glad the little shit are at school for a few hours Grin Wine roll on tomorrow!

Loquaciousd · 27/09/2015 20:06

Beginning of a slippery slope. Get dressed before leaving the house.

SoleBizzzz · 27/09/2015 20:24

Get out of bed earlier.

Aramynta · 27/09/2015 20:27

While I don't see it as unprofessional (unless you work for the school itself) I do think it's quite a "skank" thing to do.

Even if I dont get out of bed on time it's not difficult to pull some jeans and a t-shirt on... Hmm

SoleBizzzz · 27/09/2015 20:27

The OP is in her car weather coat nobody can see anyway. Who cares

SoleBizzzz · 27/09/2015 20:28

whether*

mathanxiety · 27/09/2015 20:29

That is my thought too, SoleBizzzz..

And who knows if someone wearing clothes has washed in a week?

LoseLooseLucy · 27/09/2015 20:31

Other people thinking what you want to or must wear to do this have their priorities all wrong.

It's not actually my priorities which are wrong, I admit I make a snap judgement of 'lazy bastard can't be arsed getting up on time to dress themselves, probably haven't given their children breakfast because they're late up, still wearing yesterday's knickers, you dirty, dirty bastard' and then wouldn't give it a second thought.

reni2 · 27/09/2015 20:35

It's more a "oh no, she's struggling, wonder if she has a drink problem or if she has any support at all, better look out for the kids whenever I see them".

SoleBizzzz · 27/09/2015 20:40

You think about whether Women are wearing yesterdays knickers? Are you well?

SoleBizzzz · 27/09/2015 20:41

A drink problem?

My gosh I am naive

LoseLooseLucy · 27/09/2015 20:45

You think about whether Women are wearing yesterdays knickers? Are you well?

Well that's where my priorities are in order. Women's knickers are all I think about.

bessarabiantiger · 27/09/2015 20:47

Have opted for satin PJ'S tomorrow for you OP, also tricorn hat, as am taking kids to school by boat and one must dress professionally for this. Apparently.

I think this may be less of a question of 'why' and more of 'why are you not doing this with more flair?'. Any trace of shame invites comment.

Be proud of your bedwear. Plough through the naysayers like the pyjama'd prow of a ship, whip a Martini out of your handbag and flounce off cackling.

Life is so short. Cause chaos.

kids will be wearing life jackets and huge grins.

Will report back on my interview results for and against

SoleBizzzz · 27/09/2015 20:48

Lose same here, we are normal then phew!!

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 27/09/2015 21:07

I think theres a difference between caught short, and being openly proud to be out in your jammies...

CalmYoBadSelf · 27/09/2015 21:09

I agree that it shouldn't really matter but I do think somebody out in public in PJs has low standards. Washing and dressing in proper clothes takes minutes

Agree with the previous poster who said When people say "I don't give a fuck what people think" they usually assume they are thought of as bohemian and unconventional and everybody else is Hyacinth Bucket.
Almost everybody cares if people think they are alcoholic, struggling with life or unwashed

BastardGoDarkly · 27/09/2015 21:10

I so want to be on your boat bessara Grin

bellie710 · 27/09/2015 22:23

You do know it is illegal to drive without shoes on??

LisbethSalandersLaptop · 27/09/2015 22:26

is it bellie - could you link us to that law then?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 27/09/2015 22:40

What is BB cream? Hmm

pigsDOfly · 27/09/2015 22:53

It's just such a depressing way to dress (or rather, not dress). Slopping around in pyjamas all day. Why would anyone want to.

Do you not bother to comb your hair either?

And how miserable for the people around you. I'd hate to live with someone who spent all their time in their night clothes, it would really bring me down; like living in a hospital ward.

TheDowagerCuntess · 27/09/2015 23:34

Absolutely agree, pigs.

As for driving without shoes - it's not actually illegal, but it's not safe and is frowned upon.
