Talking about going to the top of a tall building the first time in Birmingham that I was several stories up, and although this is a few years back probably, and looked out, being fairly new to Birmingham, I always remember being surprised how green it was, there just seemed to be trees everywhere. This was not from the City Centre, think it was from one of the old buildings of the Old QE, but I always remember that feeling of surprise over it being just so green. And given I now live on the other side of the city, in a tree lined street, surrounded by tree lined streets, with back gardens surrounding mine that are tree filled I do not think that has massively changed.
In fact, just googling, you find that Birmingham has more trees than Paris, a record-breaking number of flower show medals and one of the largest urban parks in Europe.
"Birmingham City Council reckons our city has six million trees, 3,500 hectares of public space, and 250 miles of urban brooks and streams.
The 2,400-acre Sutton Park at Sutton Coldfield is the largest urban park in the UK and one of the biggest parks in all of Europe."
