Mop and then Vacuum.

Unless you use a steam mop, then you may vacuum then mop. Other than that no excuses. Vacuuming then mopping is the wrong way round.

Don't you remove the bits with the vacuum then polish the newly bit-free floor with the mop??

Sonnet · 14/09/2015 16:15

? ?
I vacuum to remove all dust then mop to clean any dirty marks.
If I mopped first my mop would be full of dust and hair?!? Hmm

MelanieCheeks · 14/09/2015 16:15

Why is it the wrong way round? I vacuum first to lift all the dog hairs, that leaves me a free surface to mop.

Arkkorox · 14/09/2015 16:16

Surely vacuuming then moping is the way?! I don't want to mop my floor crap.

cosytoaster · 14/09/2015 16:16

YABVU - it's vacuum then mop!

catfordbetty · 14/09/2015 16:17

No! An explanation of this extraordinary claim is required.

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:18

No. You mop to gather the hair and crap from corners etc. then vacuum when dry.

You are all wrong. And very unreasonable with your backwardly mopping.

def Dyson then Mop steam or otherwise. Whats the point of pushing dirt around the floor

RB68 · 14/09/2015 16:19

by the time its dry its all back in the flipping corners - that is what those little bits on the Dyson/Hoover whatever are for - corners and underneaths

catfordbetty · 14/09/2015 16:20

Sounds unnatural to me. I won't be changing a lifetime's habits.

MelanieCheeks · 14/09/2015 16:20

What's the point of vacuuming if you've already lifted the hairs and crap with the mop?

TheBitterBoy · 14/09/2015 16:20

What? No. Absolutely not. What is the point of vacuuming if you have dealt with all the hairs and dust with your now skanky mop?

OurBlanche · 14/09/2015 16:20

But if your mop collects the crap and cleans why bother with the vacuum after?

If your mop first theory is correct then the vacuum is redundant!

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:22

Nooooooo the mops purpose is to remove the bits the vacuum misses. Or you just pull them out afterwards. And it clumps all the dog hair nicely for vacuuming.

Konserve · 14/09/2015 16:22

no no no
it's hoovering then mopping.
otherwise you would just swish the dirt and dust around.

ya so so bu

TheBitterBoy · 14/09/2015 16:22

In which case I don't think you are vacuuming correctly...

DurhamDurham · 14/09/2015 16:22

We have eight floors which require vacuuming and then mopping......in that order. Any other way is just madness. I don't get your logic at all.

donajimena · 14/09/2015 16:23

I clean rental properties and confirm that after near to 500 floors being mopped, the most effective way is to vacuum. Then mop. Then vacuum again.
The mopping tends to uncover all sorts of bits no matter how thoroughly you think you have vacuumed.

Naicecuppatea · 14/09/2015 16:23

Dust, then vacuum, then mop, of course.

HSMMaCM · 14/09/2015 16:25

Vacuum before mopping here.

HoneyDragon · 14/09/2015 16:25

My floor isn't filthy enough to warrant a double vacuum so I mop then Vac donajimena but my teens were spent doing similar and was always told to vac after mopping.

DurhamDurham "We have eight floors"

Shock
ChunkyPickle · 14/09/2015 16:31

Hoover then Mop - otherwise I just end up swooshing damp bits around, and then their damp so they don't want to hoover.

WaggleBee · 14/09/2015 16:33

You're all wrong. You sweep hard floors not vacuum.

Seriously, I've just realised I might've been sweeping the hard floors unnecessarily for years. Wtf didn't it occur to me I could vacuum them? Confused I've got a swanky Miele with a hard floor setting so no excuses.

DurhamDurham · 14/09/2015 16:34

That's eight floors in different rooms......not an eight storey house. We just live in a normal two storey semi Grin
