I can't stand her anti English stance, but at least one political leader is doing something for the refugees...

Maybe we could swap all our "hard working" SNP politicians gobshites for some Syrian refugees?

I'd say it was a fair swap, but I think Scotland would have the better end of that deal.

She's a dangerous, manipulative, opportunistic politician who has done no more than jump on the bandwagon of public opinion.

Yep!

Report
WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/09/2015 13:03

I don't understand what hold they have on the Media as they never seem to get any criticism.

Yy she is a very opportunistic politician. Makes Wee Eck look amateur.

Anything to differentiate against the 'English' stance.

In this case she is correct, but the differentiation is more valued than the issue.

I found the wobbly voice /almost in tears bit a bit fake, but who knows.

Having met her I found her very superficial. Perhaps all politicians are.
Certainly Shiney Dave also turns my stomach, but for different reasons.

Loving the use of gobshites.

Phew, glad most other posters aren't taken in by her either.

I too am baffled and quite alarmed by the cult like SNP supporters. Clearly I missed the mass brainwashing!

Report
KidLorneRoll · 04/09/2015 13:17

KidLorne exaggerate much?

Not really. It's the usual vague bluster about how dangerous the snp are, how they are a "cult" and that anyone who even thinks about voting for them is a massive idiot - despite them currently having a majority in Scotland, a massively successful GE result and will, in all likelyhood increase their vote in the scottish election next year. No substance, just the same old shit.

Through in a few insults about her personal appearance and you have a thread that is the very definition of delete-worthy.

Report
trixymalixy · 04/09/2015 13:24

Interesting that you only defend them by saying how popular they are rather than defending the SNP stating their sterling results with education, healthcare, policing etc etc. Oh wait......

She is a decent woman. Yes she wants an independent scotland. She is not threatening england Or anti english she is just pro scotland. She has a good heart.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/09/2015 13:29

I personally think that insulting her appearance is a bit of a low blow (as funny as it was) though I tend to not trust people with thin lips (obv my issue rather than any scientific basis)

She isn't dangerous because of her looks though, just because of her values (or lack thereof). It's basically independence at any cost and to heck with whether it is actually the right thing or not. They were very right wing way back when, now it's fashionable to be socialist, so there you go. Clever though as they whipped the labour philosophy out from under them and took them as their own and left labour with nothing to sell.

Kidlorne here's a list of the things that the SNP has mismanaged / made a mess of recently (all devolved):

Education - falling standards in basic literacy and numeracy
Health - funding cut, waiting times increased, huge shortage of qualified staff and removal of funding from local projects targeted at people living in areas with the worst health outcomes
Police - centralised police force which has been a disaster
Law - tried to,remove the requirement for corroboration to make it easier to convict people
Young people - forced introduction of a state guardian for every child

I agree with others they are a cult who will use any and every opportunity to promote their agenda of breaking up,the UK

Report
Stripeysocksarecool · 04/09/2015 13:32

What evidence is there that NS is a decent woman? All anyone knows about her is what her PR machine allows you to know. Crocodile tears and sound bites crafted to suit her agenda.

trixymalixy · 04/09/2015 13:36

I also think it's not on to insult her appearance. I actually think she's looking very good at the moment, I've been wondering whether she's been working with a stylist.

Report
Squooshed · 04/09/2015 13:36

Yep. She definitely has a stylist.

scottish labour was a cult for a long time, they could have stood donkey and it would have been elected. I am glad politics in scotland has been shook up we have a whole generation questioning and thinking about politics. There is no such thing as being loyal to a political party all your life any more. I think that is a good thing. Snp will wane but hopefully scotland will be a better place polically because of this process.

I think she's definitely been "styled". I suspect the jokes about her Lego hair may have prompted a trip to a decent hairdresser. Despite the fact that I can't stand her, I agree it is wrong to criticise her appearance.

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 04/09/2015 13:40

Can't stand her and she has no authority to speak for the UK

Report
trixymalixy · 04/09/2015 13:42

That's the problem Onlyhere, they don't seem to be doing any kind of questioning at all. They've replaced one cult with another. If they were actually doing any questioning instead of lapping up the propoganda being fed to them by the likes of Wings, then the SNP wouldn't get away with their populist policies, rather than doing what's actually best for Scotland.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/09/2015 13:42

politics will only improve when there is fair criticism in the press and news.

be aware of this when you are watching media reports and reading the papers - if you can find any proper criticism of the SNP policies that isn't written by a member of the public on a letters page or an independent small journalist then I'll eat my hat (or would if I had one)

I agree, where is the evidence of her caring and being a nice person?

AndIfYouTolerateThis · 04/09/2015 13:42

Wow, a lot of anti-SNP rhetoric, and worse, misogynistic comments, particularly #2! Shock

I for one think thank fuck! This was one of the reasons that saddened me the most that we didn't vote for independence, that we wouldn't have an independent Scottish govt standing up for what is right.

Yes, she is a politician and of course they all have an agenda. However, the SNP has always had a pro-immigration, pro-helping refugees stance. They are not jumping on a bandwagon.

As to what they have done - Nicola Sturgeon helped my family personally a few years ago when she was then the health secretary. My son has a chronic, life threatening illness. Our health board denied him access to equipment that would make his treatment easier, his day to day life easier, and help prevent long-term complications (ironically saving the NHS more money in the long term), despite this equipment being available in the UK. My Labour MSP didn't even reply to any of my requests for help. Eventually, Nicola Sturgeon intervened and kicked the health board's arse for dragging its heels, even providing them with funding so they had no excuse for being miles behind the rest of the country.

So yes, they have done something to help. No, they aren't perfect, there are a lot of things they do that I strongly disagree with, but today, thank fuck for Nicola. I'm proud she is our First Minister.

It is so easy when you're not in power to say the right thing - it sounds good, it makes those in power look crap and you have absolutely no need to actually do anything. It was an easy quote (anyone pick up the "emotional, I'm going to cry voice?") and she isn't the first and won't be the last to say it.

Don't care what she looks like, can't stand her attitude or position on anything and I suspect in the long run Scotland will be worse off for having her in charge.

The SNP get a disproportionately easy ride by the Scottish press in particular - I still want to know what they are afraid off?

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou glad to see you are getting with the gobshite programme :o

Have to agree with RhodaBull. She could agree to take all the refugees. None of them are going to stay in rural Scottish communities, where there will be plenty of space. Instead they will head off to established communities of similar ethnic make up.

Report
Stripeysocksarecool · 04/09/2015 13:49

And I am pleased to hear you were helped. However, one good outcome does not detract from the fact that the SNP have an appalling record in government and continue to make a real mess of devolved issues.

They are a cult, SNP supporters believe everything the SNP propaganda machine tells them.
