I can't stand her anti English stance, but at least one political leader is doing something for the refugees...

Stripey to be fair it was announced yesterday that the closure if two 999 call centres was being halted while the M9 crash inquiry was going on.

Happily hundreds of thousands of Scots can't stand the SNP and their divisive agenda and made that clear last September.

She didn't seem all that bothered at the time though noiwont. All that came out of her and her govts mouth then were statements about how much confidence they had in Police Scotland. The only reason those 2 call centres are not being closed immediately is because she knows the public are very angry about the complete mess the SNP have made of policing in Scotland.

Downtown I am genuinely starting to wonder whether those hundreds of thousands are delusional.

Nope don't think so. We'll see what happens at the elections next May.

Riding the tide of current popularity is very easy.

Plans are what's needed, not soundbites or politicizing what is an extremely complex situation with far reaching implications for Europe.

If she wants to help refugee families, women and children then that is great news as Scotland has a small population.

But I would draw a distinction between helping them and the thousands of healthy males who have abandoned their wives, daughters, mothers and babies to their fate in a violent and dangerous hell.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 04/09/2015 12:41

Whatb happens at the may election has nothing to do with whether they are delusional. All to do with whether they buy into SNP bullshit.

Agenda driven apparatchik. I can't be bothered with the political tears. Hers or anyone else's btw. Where were her tears for the young girl left dying at the roadside for 3 days in Scotland due to cut backs at police call centres.

I cant help but find it disgusting that its taken a photo of a poor boy dying to get people to care about the immigrants and refuges. This has been going on for months and no politician spoke up then. It was only a month ago that they were 'reinforcing our borders' by putting up tougher fencing at Calais.
Nicola Sturgeon is just jumping on the bandwagon. She's full of noise but I've yet to actually see her doing anything productive. Cant stand the woman.

She's a gobshite.

Everything done for an agenda.

I can't stand the woman and her rubbery lips with faded lipstick and spit. She makes me want to puke

No matter what you think of her politics, that's a pretty disgusting thing to say.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 04/09/2015 12:46

It actually makes me sick that she is climbing on the body of a dead child to promote her own brand of "look at us Scots aren't we just the most caring of people?"

I'm Scottish.

she is still a Gobshite.

There is plenty she could be doing without waiting for Cameron's say so, but it's easy to stand there and say "we'd love to help but....."

Gobshite

^^ that's exactly what I thought when I read that David Cameron was going to announce we'd take more Syrian refugees.

I hate politics by popularity; and policy by petition. This isn't a problem limited to Syrian refugees. The entire system needs radically overhauled. But yeh Dave has noticed a petition and read some soundbites so now we'll be taking x [insert randomnly designated number here] more Syrian refugees. Hmm I find that approach to policy much more difficult to stomach than Nicola Sturgeon's statement.

To be clear, yes we should be doing more but we also need a joined-up approach to the refugee and migrant crisis across Europe. Germany's response has been much better as it is to most things tbh

babyboomersrock · 04/09/2015 12:49

ps - I'm not impressed by politicians' tears either - nor their paltry, belated offers of help.

I'd prefer a genuinely workable solution - these refugees need a safe haven and there's plenty of space in Scotland (and yes, I'm Scottish).

...and all this stuff about education? there are children who started High school this year without even being able to tell the time or do basic Maths that have spent their entire time in school so far under SNP rule.

They are all Gobshites.

The people will speak in May. It is perhaps the haters that are paranoid and delusional. I can think of plenty of politicians who are far more gobshitey than the very excellent First Minister.

I agree that there is plenty of space - each area/town/city could take a quota and we wouldn't notice the difference.

I can understand how some of the English towns and cities that have been overwhelmed in recent years want no more - they could be taken out the equation and the rest spread about in groups that are big enough to give them enough to have support from their fellow countrymen and that aren't a burden to any one area.

Where is the plenty of space in Scotland babyboomers? It sure isn't in the parts of the country where there are jobs and infrastructure.

She's a dangerous, manipulative, opportunistic politician who has done no more than jump on the bandwagon of public opinion. Who honestly believes she'd have made this "pledge" if that photo hadn't been taken?

Quite how nearly half the Scottish electorate have been taken in by her and her party is beyond me. I despair, I really do....

babyboomersrock is there plenty of space in Scotland? where are all these empty houses you would put them in? where are all the GP surgeries which have spaces and time for them? where are the places in schools for the children? what about all the other infrastructure needed to support all these people?

The SNP is a cult.

I simply don't understand how so many people have bought into this cult - it is terrifying. She is an utterly odious, deceitful woman who will capitalise on anything whatsoever, no matter how low she stoops, to spread her poison.

If you believe her, you HAVE been brainwashed - it IS a cult.
