At work today a colleague started saying ugh, it smells, you have Carter, go to the toilet. Aibu to think this is rude and embarrassing for women?

So it's ok to do it to a man?

ginmakesitallok · 01/09/2015 17:51

Eh? It's rude whether it's addressed to men or women. Only acceptable with direct family.

MissFitt68 · 01/09/2015 17:54

Why not women?? Are they some protected species who should be placed on a pedestal or something?? Am I missing something here op?

elbowsdontsing2 · 01/09/2015 17:55

but was it you Grin

Waterymargin · 01/09/2015 17:56

Well yes it was actually!

But I just find men are proud.

Is there usually a lot of banter at your work place? I'm struggling to get offended on your behalf. If you had a problem with it, why not just tell them to stop?

I know men who would be absolutely gutted to be teased about having farted so I don't think it is necessarily a gender thing. If anything blokes are more likely to be expected to put up with that sort of toilet humour trading.

Hellocampers · 01/09/2015 17:57

Jesus where do you work? How bizarre and childish.

PurpleDaisies · 01/09/2015 17:58

Teasing not trading in my post!

JustMeOverHere · 01/09/2015 17:59

Go to the toilet because you farted? Confused

I would be in there all bloody day if I did that!

Spartans · 01/09/2015 18:00

So you farted and stank the place out, but upset that someone called you out on it because you have a vagina?

Waterymargin · 01/09/2015 18:00

It just slipped out it was smelly as had curry yesterday but how rude! I was v embarrassed.

Well, it wasn't an accusation, was it?! It was a fact. Grin

Waterymargin · 01/09/2015 18:05

Yes but it was a mistake!

Sallystyle · 01/09/2015 18:08

I fart all the time. I have IBS

Thankfully at work the smell just blends in with all the other bad smells.

I would be mortified if someone had mentioned a smelly fart.

JustOneMinuteAtATime · 01/09/2015 18:11

You can't poison the air and then get upset that someone calls you on it!

Spartans · 01/09/2015 18:11

It was a mistake? What were you trying to do?

Fwiw I wouldn't accuse anyone. Male or female. To suggest it's ok to do it to men because there are usually proud of it, very odd.

Pipbin · 01/09/2015 18:11

Women fart too you know.

If I'm sure one will be silent I let slip in class too.
