To think this takes children's birthday parties to a whole new level...

My ds has been invited to a classmate's 10 year old birthday party. The party is costing £1,900 for 10 of them. It is an amazing party - it should be for that price, but where do they go from here?

It's going to make the party invite to the cinema in November look a bit pants isn't it?

When did parties start costing the price of a family holiday?

OP posts:
Chottie · 31/08/2015 19:24

Goodness, what are they all going to be doing at this party?!?

nancy75 · 31/08/2015 19:27

Dd has pretty extravagent parties but never £190 per head! what are they doing?

Madeyemoodysmum · 31/08/2015 19:27

Awful! My two are sharing a party costing £125. They can't wait. . no need IMO. Parents showing off.

nancy75 · 31/08/2015 19:29

If they can afford it and want to do it then it's not awful, it is their money to spend how they please.

Miloarmadillo1 · 31/08/2015 19:29

That's approximately what I'm intending to spend on my DC in total for a party a year between 1-18 Refuse to engage with such blatant showing off, and make sure the present does not exceed the MN approved £5-10 limit. Competitive party throwing must be avoided at all costs...

AuntyMag10 · 31/08/2015 19:31

If they can afford it then surely it's up to them?

TheMotherOfHellbeasts · 31/08/2015 19:32

If the parents want to and can afford it, what's the problem? Toddler DS is our only living child and DH and I tend to spoil him, so could see this being us Blush. I am curious about what they're doing though Grin.

AuntyMag10 · 31/08/2015 19:32

I don't understand why people would think it's showing off or 'awful'. That sound like envy. If a parent can afford it easily then so what.

DotForShort · 31/08/2015 19:34

What on earth could possibly cost that much for a children's party? Confused

HicDraconis · 31/08/2015 19:34

I'm curious as to what sort of party costs £190 a head!

Ironfistfunkymum · 31/08/2015 19:35

Why not? Do you think they should spend 125 and donate the rest to charity?

How about the people with an 125 party? Should they just all share a multi pack of monster munch and roses and donate the other 115 to charity?

nancy75 · 31/08/2015 19:37

Children should be given lump of coal and a tangerine and it should lasts until they are at least 18 (hoiks bossom with a humph)

ToTheGups · 31/08/2015 19:38

I could never afford to so wouldn't do it but I suppose if I was in that position that I could afford it I might do?
Are the family minted op or are they just your average family?
I am dying to know what they are doing!

DotForShort · 31/08/2015 19:38

And why would the parents tell the guests how much the party costs? To spread the news that the party is costing this much is really rather vulgar.

SmugairleRoin · 31/08/2015 19:38

Holy shit. Wow.
At least they're 10 and will remember it, I suppose. What are they doing for it?

Runningbutnotscared · 31/08/2015 19:40

Go on op - tell us what the party is?

AuntyMag10 · 31/08/2015 19:40

Dot how do you know the parents spread the word? According to mn it must only be pound land crap and the bare minimum that's acceptable. The op said it was amazing, so the probably the parents wanted to give their child this amazing party.

MissDemelzaCarne · 31/08/2015 19:41

How do you know how much it cost?

TravellingToad · 31/08/2015 19:41

The BASTARDS spending their own money on their children and children's friends.

DotForShort · 31/08/2015 19:42

Well, the OP somehow knows how much the party costs. I assume the source must have been the hosts? Though it's possible that the OP has inside information about the cost from another source.

AuntyMag10 · 31/08/2015 19:42

Op movies sound like a great party plan as well. I'm sure your ds will have a lovely time.

Bakeoffcake · 31/08/2015 19:42

It depends what they are doing really.

nancy75 · 31/08/2015 19:43

Op might have just googled what they are doing and seen the price?

ohtheholidays · 31/08/2015 19:43

At last a parent thats worse than me Grin

I'm showing DH this he will be so releaved that I haven't gone quite as bonkers as he was worried.

And yes I want to know what they're doing as well?

DotForShort · 31/08/2015 19:43
