Her arms just look way too thin, the article is not the greatest photos but a quick google makes her look even thinner.

I think where some are seeing derogatory comments others see alarm at the sight of a previously healthy looking young woman becoming very, and for her unnaturally, thin.

BoboChic · 31/08/2015 20:46

Cheryl is no thinner than Victoria Beckham (who was much rounder faced and fleshier in her youth) and a lot prettier. Stars like being thin.

NoStannisNo · 31/08/2015 20:58

Cheryl has totally been this thin before - I think its.probably just that she is a.bit older and her face can't carry it off so well?

Actually the thing that got me looking back at old.photos was how 'big' she was at the start of girls aloud - I always thought she was teeny tiny even then, and she was, but compared to now she was much bigger.

Too too thin. It's scary.

WilsonWilsonWoman · 31/08/2015 21:05

Look! Panic over, she's been photographed next to a pile of choccy bars being sold for charidee at Greggs (!) to show everyone she doesn't have a problem with her weight!

she you can express concern about weight loss though without making personal comments about how the result looks. Your boobs analogy is apt though. If I said I was concerned about Jordan's ever changing implants and state of mind then no, you wouldn't take offence. If I started saying Holly Willoghbys chest was undesirable, looked awful, she was probably one of those people who's weight goes straight on their boobs and therefore must be cramming in the pies and will soon be obese, bet she'll be huge in later life, it's not attractive etc then chances are if your boobs are similar you'd not be thinking 'oh yes just a health concern and not applicable to my boobs'. Even if I said after slagging her 'well, I don't know what you look like'
(I've used Holly Willoghby because like most people I think she's lovely looking, rather than choosing someone less attractive with an equally large pair and making comments someone might think I seriously mean)

polly last time I looked 'undesirable' wasn't a medical term used to describe concern for someone's mental health. It's a derogatory comment. Ever met anyone who is seriously discussing health concerns about obesity go on about visible fat tyres, must be eating loads, should be covering up their flab etc about a named individual? Cos I've not, only heard people bitching use words like that to describe individuals. And they are just the reversal of whats being said as concern for Cheryl's size. You may not have said any of those things, but that's what I'm objecting to as derogatory.

SheGotAllDaMoves · 31/08/2015 22:45

Nope wouldn't take it personally.

Because a thread about HW would not be about me. And I would not feel the need to reference myself.

This thread is about Cheryl and her unecessary weight loss. She herself says it is due to bereavement.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 31/08/2015 23:35

Whatever the reason for her current appearance, I feel slightly vindicated - when she appeared on screen me and DH both gasped in surprise and I said "Where's Cheryl gone, she's fading away!"

DH made a slightly mean remark about her looking awful, but I think he meant sick. She does look very frail and childlike, although I think she is gorgeous, and speaking as a fat person she is probably better off being a teensy bit too thin for a short period than being excessively fat over a long period.

As for all the "body shaming" comments, I am inclined to agree that it is equally as rude to make nasty remarks about someone being too thin, as it is to be unkind about someone being fat. None of us can know how the other person got there, or what their real story is. It's wrong to judge, in terms of whether good or bad, right or wrong, but I'm no sure anyone would disagree with a factual statement that she looks extremely slender.

Stripeysocksarecool · 01/09/2015 01:10

Who is Cheryl Fernandez thingy? I've never heard of her. Is she from one of those TV shows like made in Chelsea? You can tell I don't spend a lot of time keeping up with popular culture!

howtorebuild · 01/09/2015 03:17

Formerly known as Cheryl Tweedy and Cheryl Cole.

WWYDinThisSituation · 01/09/2015 03:40

and Biffa :o

Stripeysocksarecool · 01/09/2015 10:00

Ah, ok - I know who she is now. Why is her size / shape news? and frankly, who cares, unless of course anyone posting here knows her (which seems quite unlikely).

SheGotAllDaMoves · 01/09/2015 10:05

stripey if you read the thread you will see the reasons why spoke care.

No need for them to repeat them all

SheGotAllDaMoves · 01/09/2015 10:05

Why some care..

Stripeysocksarecool · 01/09/2015 10:11

All of you who are concerned should explain to your daughters that Cheryl thingy is a self absorbed publicity seeking product of the music industry and not someone to be emulated.

Alternatively, stop watching such trashy TV and pay her no attention!

Annapurnacircuit · 02/09/2015 14:27

I can't believe that posters are calling her emaciated and that she has a life-threatening illness when you have absolutely no idea what she may or may not be suffering from Hmm.

Those pictures of the truly anorexic women show people emaciated and very clearly unwell - there is a massive difference. A friends' daughter is anorexic and was down to 5 stone at one point - she really did look like a Belsen victim not like Cheryl FV who yes is thin but still in a different league.

Mintyy · 02/09/2015 14:42

So you can't be anorexic unless you weigh 5 stone? Is that your argument? By the way, I haven't noticed anyone on this thread stating that CC has an eating disorder, a couple of people have suggested she might have from her appearance. I really don't think that's that outlandish.

suzannefollowmyvan · 02/09/2015 15:07

there is a massive difference

I recon Cheryl oojamaflip is about half a stone away from looking properly emaciated

half a stone is a thin margin, not a massive difference

suzannefollowmyvan · 02/09/2015 15:08

are we playing anorexia top trumps nowHmm

Annapurnacircuit · 02/09/2015 15:50

No not all, I was merely saying that her appearance is a long way from how many anorexic women look illustrated by the poster who put up pictures a few pages back. She has muscle tone in her arms, my friends' daughters legs didn't even look as big as her arms. Didn't mean it to come across as playing top trumps, absolutely not.

Posters have said she looks like she has a life threatening illness, I'm assuming maybe incorrectly that they mean anorexia nervosa.

kali110 · 02/09/2015 16:10

Some people are naturally skinny. I was a size 6/8 till i was around 19/20. I didn't look brill but i didn't look ill.
Cheryl isn't this naturally skinny though. She does look ill lately, especially in the crop top pictures.
She may not be anorexic, but it doesn't mean she isn't ill or too skinny.
I'm not jealous of her size. 1'm a 12 and 16 due to health problems. I know i look better being a 12 and 14 ( love to be a 12 all over but i'm not goung to worry over that!) but i'm still happy being this size.
I'm happier with how i look now than i was a size 6.
( and no dig to people who are a size 6, i just hated being so skinny as my tops wouldn't stay up!)

Mintyy · 02/09/2015 18:32

I think she does look like she might have anorexia nervosa, which is indeed a terribly dangerous life threatening illness.

SheGotAllDaMoves · 02/09/2015 18:57

You could post pictures of every celebrity who has ever admitted to suffering with an ED and some posters would come on and say 'she looks fine, people have forgotten what slim is meant to look like'.

Mintyy · 02/09/2015 19:10

Indeed.

0pheliaBalls · 02/09/2015 20:44

I wish everybody would stop going on about CFV's weight, or indeed about anybody's weight, be they famous, not famous, fat or thin. Me and people very close to me have/are still coping with EDs. I had to watch someone I adore cough up blood as a complication of anorexia. I can tell you, absolutely, that people obsessing about celebrities' weight is enormously triggering. People who live with this are bombarded with images and opinions day in, day out and it's awful. Other peoples' weight is nobody else's business and, really, it's nobody's place - other than the individual's doctor, at a push - to pass comment on it.
