Beach towels used in the bathroom

AIBU? Recently returned from our Corsica holiday. Before we went I invested in some lovely beach towels. DH keeps using them in the bathroom and hanging them on the towel rack. AIBU to be irritated?

No, you absolutely cannot use beach towels indoors or bathroom towels outdoors. And why? Its the rule Wink

Live in a hot country, have a swimming pool. Been married for 20 years now and dh has only just learned the rule. How did he learn it now suddenly after 19 years.....: the towel cupboard has been rearranged Wink. Bathroom towels are at the back... swimming towels are at the front. So on his way to the pool, he still just grabs the first one he sees, and voila, its a swimming towel. Wink

From this I am sure that you have gathered that dh very rarely goes into said cupboard for a bathroom towel, as they are already in the bathroom....

Swimming towels are more durable anyway. Theres the chlorine stains, the fact that when you get in the pool, the puppy steals the towel every time and drags in all through the garden. Once they have been brought back and laid out to dry, there is always at least one dog that calls dibs on it to lay on. They double up as clothing in the summer Wink....

What is it with towels?

I have more towels than I know what to do with. I was bought towels as a wedding present (my mum told everyone that's what we wanted). I've been bought towels for christmas and birthday.

My mum has just asked me if I want a couple of new sets as a housewarming.

I have; a drawer (we're talking big storage drawers here) full of "old" towels. Not old, but mismatched, patterned, beach, or sets I don't particularly like. A drawer full of plain towels, mainly white, that can be grabbed and stuck in any room. A drawer for kids, swimming etc. And lastly, a drawer full of brand new towels I just don't need.

When you consider I have never, ever, actually bought a towel. I also have no airing cupboard or bathroom storage, so each room has underbed storage especially for towels.

I hate freaking towels.

Micah it may be time to declutter yout towels?

Pumpkinette · 18/08/2015 13:20

Most animal rescue places (round here anyway) will happy accept old, unwanted towels if you are looking to offload them somewhere Micah

Micah · 18/08/2015 14:01

I should. I like the idea of donating to animals.

Most of them are in good condition though. Plus most of them are from family my mother who, if they discover I've had a declutter, will go out and buy sodding more. As it is i am apparently short of "guest" towels. I don't have guests either, but I need a set or three specially reserved in case any do appear.

That's if she doesn't get all offended that I've got rid of those towels she bought specially for x reason. Or I've thrown the ones for y purpose so now I'll need more...

I had to rescue my cat's favourite old towel from the vet. I lined his carrier with it when he had to stay with them for a day to have his teeth out. I was really worried because he's getting on and had to go under general anaesthetic.

I needn't have worried. He's not fussed about going in his carrier and after the grogginess wore off was pestering them for food. He really likes the vet even though she pulled most of his teeth out and stuck a thermometer up his bum.

They threw the manky old towel away though and replaced it with some soft hygienic lining. I had to ask for it back and it was brought out in a bag labelled 'bio-hazard'.

I thought he'd had an accident on it but it was fine. They just obviously have higher standards than me and him Grin

On the subject, do you say tail or tow-ell?

Tail???
That reminds me of when my mother( Lancashire lass) who had taught in some very rough state schools in Liverpool and Scotland, finished her teaching career with a post in a vair posh private school . on one of her first days a small boy asked if he could leave the room so he could collect his tahl, which he had forgotten to pick up. The conversation went something like this:
Small boy: Mrs X, may I go and collect my tahl?
Mum: your what?
SB : my tahl. I forgot to get my tahl
Mum: ummm, your...?
SB ( getting cross): my TAHL! I need to get my TAHL
Mum: what's a ...tahl?
SB (confused): well, its ...just a tahl.
Mum: yes but I don't know what you mean. What is it for?
SB: well, it's for drying oneself when wet. You know, a TAHL!!!!
Mum: ohhhhh. You mean a towel!
SB: what?
Grin
