Beach towels used in the bathroom

AIBU? Recently returned from our Corsica holiday. Before we went I invested in some lovely beach towels. DH keeps using them in the bathroom and hanging them on the towel rack. AIBU to be irritated?

YANNNNNNBU!

TheCrowFromBelow · 15/08/2015 19:14

I don't have velour beach towels Shock
Cotton loops only

scribblegirl · 15/08/2015 19:16

YANBU, my DH does this, gets on my tits. We have lovely white plush ones for the bathroom, beach towels are rougher!

SchwarzwalderKirschtorte · 15/08/2015 19:24

I isolated our beach towels as I discovered my daughter was about to take a sex-themed one to Brownie camp.

One with various positions and a devil/angel couple. Blush
Went out and bought her own towels for such occasions.

YANBU OP!

I agree with Soundofsettling. Beach towels that are white on one side, vehlvety and coloured on the other aren't really THAT good at drying you.*

They have two sides, one containing three quarters of the pile. The ink has been absorbed into the pile so it can't absorb water so well. The other side is white and contains a quarter of the pile, just to anchor down the printed side. So with beach towels you are effectively drying yourself on a quarter of the thickness.
Not nice.

*Disclaimer. i'm not talking about beach towels that are velvet both sides. And weigh a ton.

SoupDragon · 15/08/2015 19:28

Your DH hangs towels in the towel rail?! Shock

Happy36 · 15/08/2015 19:31

Beach towels are for the beach. I would feel the same way as the OP. Your husband is probably doing it without thinking. Put bathroom towels in the bathrooms and put the beach towels away out of sight.

mrsruffallo · 15/08/2015 19:31

Yes he does, he is a SAHP and does almost all of the household stuff.

Which is how he sneaks them in!!!!!!!

I had only beach towels in the kids bathroom when my boys were small, worked great, nice an colourful white walls and pale floor, so it was the only colour.
We had lots and used them a lot for swimming too.
Ds now just got his own place, he has beach towels in the bathroom for showering. I just bought him two more back from our holiday.

Notso · 15/08/2015 19:37

I hate beach towels. MIL uses nothing but beach towels, the crappy thin ones at that.
I recently invested in hammam towels. They are fantastic.

Cupcaketin · 15/08/2015 19:37

YANBU, beach towels are for the beach. We were bought ours for our honeymoon and have been married for 15 years and they are still nice, wouldn't use them everyday because they are thick velour ones (for lying on, on a beach or sun lounger). Swimming towels are fun coloured Childrens towels. Bath towels are for the bathroom and match the bathroom. I am precious about that sort of thing I admit.

nicestrongtea · 15/08/2015 19:38

Put them in a duvet in one of those vacuum sealed bags, seal and hide !
Mwahahahahah! It would be war in this house.

Im afraid I am reeling at taking used bathroom towels swimming Grin

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 15/08/2015 19:41

I'm with you, OP.
Beach towels brightly coloured things for placing on a sunbed.
Bathroom towels should always be white. And not covered in guest shite.

Silverturnip · 15/08/2015 19:47

Beach towels are only towels that leave our house, otherwise DS and DH will use them on swimming bath floors etc.
This may make me precious but I'm happy knowing that when I'm clean and squeaky wrapping myself if a beautifully soft and clean towel.

mumeeee · 15/08/2015 19:55

An

dementedma · 15/08/2015 20:00

I don't own a beach towel. Am I deprived?

ijustwannadance · 15/08/2015 20:01

I wouldn't use my bathroom towels out of the house either. We have a couple of bright beach towels for swimming/beach and a couple of old towels for everything else. Always have one in car boot too just in case.

maxxytoe · 15/08/2015 20:04

towel doesn't look like a real word to me anymore

mumeeee · 15/08/2015 20:09

Sorry accidentally pressed post on my last post before I had finished. I'm another one who thinks YABU, a towel is a towel. I use beach towels in the bathroom and bath towels at the swimming pool.

Ifiwasabadger · 15/08/2015 20:11

YANBU. I live in a hot country so we do have beach towels to hand in the spare bathroom. But they are massive and so colourful they make me feel like I'm having a stroke!

Penfold007 · 15/08/2015 20:13

We use 'beach' towels for holidays and swimming, I hate bathroom towels smelling of chlorine.

For bathroom use we have huge bath sheets, hand towels and flannels.

Old towels are relegated to boot of the car for emergencies, household tasks, dog drying and horse cleaning.

lighteningirl · 15/08/2015 20:15

Yanbu beach towels are luxury gorgeous special towel for the beach I see red mist when I caught new dh using one however I do feel I might be seen as slightly neurotic so I now hide them under the bed linen. He has no idea we even have a place for bed linen so harmony has been restored.

Forgetmenotblue · 15/08/2015 20:21

Agree with DoJo earlier. Going swimming? Take towel off bathroom rail and use that, then it can be washed.

Don't own beach towels. Would always take oldest towels to the beach, if we went, because of them getting sandy and rank with seawater.

However I am old school....go to beach, swim, come home. No lounging.
