To think it takes a special kind of arsehole to use up scarce hospital parking so you can go watch a football match?

Bold as brass in football shirts marching through the hospital carpark on their way to the ground while patients can't park Angry

Where is this? Most hospital car parks charge so wouldn't they look for alternative space first?

If they're prepared to pay the extortionate charges I suppose it's ok...it helps fund the hospital after all! Most people are trying to avoid using hospital car parks as much as possible aren't they?

A hospital near us has a similar issue. The local town has parking restrictions and is exeprnsive so people park at hospital and use the frequent bus into town centre.

Most hospital parking fees are extortionate. The parking isn't reserved for patients/visitors so I don't think they've done anything wrong really.

It is really expensive, but match day parking is also a complete rip off. Hospital is a short walk to the ground.

It's not just about funding the hospital though is it? It's about the patients who can't park. We've just left and there was not a space to be had.

Round here they park at Tesco when they go to the match. Does the hospital know ?

Well if they park at our hospital the registration. gets photographed on the way in and if you haven't paid on the way out they hit you with a £60 fine later in the month with proof that you didn't pay..

If it is Watford yanbu at all, there's bugger all parking elsewhere near the hospital as all the streets are permits only.
You've visitors, patients, emergencies.
I imagine the hospital are used to it though.

The car park money at our Trust doesn't go to the hospital though, it goes to the car park company. I wouldn't mind the exorbitant amount they charge to park quite so much if I thought at least part of it was going into patient care or hospital upkeep.

I wondered if it was Watford too. I don't know how far away you would have to go to find parking that isn't residents only, but quite a way I expect.

Did they pay same rate as everyone else?

Feeling a bit more relaxed than I did when I posted as we are all home and well Smile.

I can't help but think that the team in question might have got a better result were it not for all the bad karma from their fans parking in the hospital car park.

The hospital I used to work in had free parking until a couple of years ago, they started to charge when they realise that people were parking their cars there and getting taxis to the airport to save on airport parking!

why they can't park in the town and walk is beyond me. It really is not that far, just pure laziness.

I'd agree with you if it weren't for the extortionate parking charges that hospitals have, but if they themselves are going to be so unfair to patients and visitors, they become fair game.

But it's not the hospital that's inconvenienced. If they take any revenue from the car park then they're still benefitting. If they're not then they're not bothered.

It's the patients and visitors that will have the trouble. And you don't need the stress when you're ill or worried.

How can anyone think this is ok, regardless of whether they've paid or how much the hospital charges?

People will be going to visit their relatives and won't be able to park. People will be taking their sick children, elderly relatives into A&E but won't be able to park.

My mind is boggling at some of the comments on this thread.

It really isn't ok. When we left the match was in full swing and there was not a space left in the carpark. It's a horrible added stress when you're visiting a hospital and you can't park.

I think hospital parking in general is a nightmare.

My nearest hospital is new and yet has zero parking at the a & e for anyone other than blue badge holders and a few (3) emergency on call staff bays.

When's dd needed emergency treatment I had to park in one of those as there was nowhere else and she was unable to walk.

Apparently there is a pay n display open to everyone, but it is a fair walk away.

She wasn't allowed to leave hospital either she was so ill.

The whole design is a white elephant it is regularly on the news for amongst other things turning serious emergencies away because they actually close at night!
