Buy clothes from Boden

Have any knowledge about a penis beaker

Realise that a chicken could last soooo long

Understand that there was such a problem with parking in P&C spaces if you didn't have a child with you

I was, indeed, ignorant.

And, in particular, I have realised that I have an addictive personality and my addiction is this site. To the extent that I have recommended "the other site" to my new-mum-step-daughter just so I can keep my presence on here a secret...

I am ashamed.

But I really like Boden Grin

The yoni thread was a topper :)

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 11:08

Oh don't set me off Pass

Runningbutnotscared · 15/08/2015 13:21

The idea of naming a child 'Bolonze' still makes me smile

thornrose · 15/08/2015 13:27

Before I joined MN (many moons ago) I didn't know about BLW, tummy time or play dates.

I didn't know how much people despised their MILs or the depth of feeling evoked by the words... P & C parking or toilet brushes.

I genuinely had no idea people cared SO much about people eating in supermarkets before paying! Blush

I could go on but I won't. Grin

It's all been a revelation really.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 13:32

How about sibling name matching? That was a revelation.

No tummytime done here in 1999. DS1's GCSE results on Thursday. If they aren't good i will blame that.

I wasn't aware that people are so obsessed by class though I know its part of British culture the desperate need to be seen as MC I thought was a thing of the past

Boden for anyone over 12 Confused

And the interest in how others raise their children what parenting methods they use no one I know does this or uses terms such as tummy time, dream feeding or co sleeping all marketing twaddle to sell book ds just slept in bed with me and at times I feed him while he was sleepy

Penis beaker wasn't funny

I have got no idea what the Pom Bear references are

Totality22 · 15/08/2015 16:45

Batshit crazy, boils my piss, no is a complete sentence - all MN phrases.

Entitled is the buzz word here.

Also all the stupid acronyms drive me mad - DD, DS, DH, DP, Dsis, etc.. although DN is the worst is it your fucking niece or nephew?? Grin

AuntyMag10 · 15/08/2015 16:47

I didn't realize everything on this planet would be offensive to someone.

Steben · 15/08/2015 16:59

I didn't know having a loo brush meant you were a scumbag, I can only assume the majority of mumsnetters don't leave marks on the bowl as I am truly baffled by those that don't have brushes!

thornrose · 15/08/2015 17:38

Yes Sparkling definitely the potential cause of bad exam results!

Was the baby feeds itself BLW party the hungry caterpillar themed one?

Passmethecrisps · 15/08/2015 17:42

That is the one I remember. What I do remember though was how seriously many posters took it.

While others laughed loudly.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 17:45

After four years nearly on MN I found out only last week not to mention FF. Not as in Formula Feeding but as in Forward Facing (car seat). Shock

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 15/08/2015 17:51

Damnit Sparkling! You had to open that can of worms, did you?! I had a strip torn off of me about 5 years ago for daring to suggest that children could be forward facing from age 1. I promptly put my DD back in rear facing told the interfering cow to sod off.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 17:55

I would worry about shoes on the upholstery Annie. Mine are teens now thank goodness. I will just add it to the list of massive parenting errors I was not aware of. My two were FF and FF Shock

mateysmum · 15/08/2015 18:01

I have learned from MN:...
That there are such things as penguin bollards and that they can serve a useful purpose
That No is a complete sentence
That there is no baby name too weird for somebody to love
That whatever your opinion on whatever subject somebody will say YABU
That some people take offence on everything at every opportunity
That I am very fortunate in my life
That there are some lovely people who will go out of their way to help those in need of whatever kind.

zeezeek · 15/08/2015 18:39

Think pom bears were a bit before my time!

I too have found that I am more offensive and unreasonable than I ever thought possible...

...still love it though.

But just need to remember not to refer to my DSD's mother as batshit crazy in her hearing otherwise she will definitely rumble I'm on here Grin

I do love it here and I genuinely do love the new perspective it gives me. I have just learned to take much if it with a vat of salt

binkiesandpopcorns · 15/08/2015 21:16

I have been not been around for long and have been astounded to learn about emotional abuse, and that I was in the past, a victim of it. I thought when someone was blatantly taking the piss, the correct thing to do was to keep the peace and not make a fuss. Thank you so much mumsnet for putting me right on this. I have learned that my needs and wants are just as important as anyone else's.

I also liked the thread about the NDN who requested the OP to not hang her underwear on the line, thereby distracting her DH. I was totally hooked on the Liftzilla thread and didn't suss it until quite far on in the very entertaining story Blush

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 21:40

I only found out recently having not read the Liftzilla thread just heard people refer to it that it wasn't about some elevator related shenanigans.

Passmethecrisps · 15/08/2015 22:16

I missed that one as well.

I did, however, read tiny elderly Korean lady live and it was ace!

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 22:18

I never read the dead threads in Classics. They aren't the same as joining in with live ones.
Never read EKL or Penis Beaker.

Passmethecrisps · 15/08/2015 22:25

Nope. They are never as funny when you can't. Join in

thehypocritesoaf · 15/08/2015 22:25

I have learned that people care passionately about middle names.

Every time they ask about a middle name I have to restrain myself from posting 'c'mon, who gives a shit?' Because evidently many people do.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 22:30

I didn't give a shit to the extent that my two don't have middle names hypocrites. Grin
