Tampax pearl

BasinHaircut · 06/08/2015 21:48

I usually just use the compact ones but bought a box of pearl.

The applicators are weird and they seem to expand too much sideways and are uncomfortable to pull out.

Have I got a dodgy box?

Not sure, but I hate them. Much prefer the old cardboard ones.

lemonade30 · 06/08/2015 21:54

no I agree they do that weird widthways expansion. They are reminiscent of lilets.

stick to plain old regular tampax.

hooliodancer · 06/08/2015 21:55

They are awful. Plastic that isn't biodegradable when you can have cardboard that is.

VodkaValiumLattePlease · 06/08/2015 21:56

Pearl is my favourite type of tampon, the cardboard ones are horrible!

strawberrypenguin · 06/08/2015 21:58

They're supposed to expand sideways. I find them really comfortable and easy to use, I always find cardboard applicators don't slide very well. Each to their own I guess!

FurtherSupport · 06/08/2015 21:58

I think the applicator is much easier to use, but not as good as the plastic one Lidl do. However, I can't bring myself to use them because of the whole plastic thing....

BasinHaircut · 06/08/2015 21:58

Oh really? I've never used lillets. In fact I've never known of anyone who used them either!

Agree - they are totally rubbish. One box....kindly bought by dh because I love pearls and he thought I might like to try "posh ones"Grin....now back to originals.

gordonpym · 06/08/2015 22:01

I hate them. Just bought one box and never again. Not because of the applicator, but because I leak, which is much much worse!

Getthewonderwebout · 06/08/2015 22:06

As far as tampons go, I love them. Less risk of leakage with width expansion IMO. If you weren't quick off the mark with the cardboard applicators they were bloody difficult to hold on to and remove.

crazykat · 06/08/2015 22:07

I hate them. I usually use tampax compak but got the pearl ones to try when they came out. The applicator is a royal pita as it's really thin and hard to keep hold of.

I don't like how they expand width ways either. Yes it's better leak protection but they're difficult to remove unless they're the small ones.

Pointlessfan · 06/08/2015 22:10

I avoid them because of all the plastic.
How long before someone mentions moon cups on this thread do you think? Wink

Nobody has appeared just to say 'Mooncup' Pointless. Shock

Are Pearl the ones with the plastic applicator that feel all pinchy and slicy?

PurpleSwift · 06/08/2015 22:18

the tampoms i find are fine. i hate the appilcators, i prefer the normal plastic applicators. i dont like cardboard ones due to lack of gripiness..

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2015 22:19

I prefer the cardboard ones, but they have got rid of the little bit of tape that tears the paper. Angry

BasinHaircut · 06/08/2015 22:20

sparkling they are the ones that have a sort of extendable extendable applicator that took me about 5 mins to work out Grin

motleymop · 06/08/2015 22:20

I agree with sparkling that the plastic is all pinchy and slicey! I hate the pearls - I find them really tricky to use.

Tanaqui · 06/08/2015 22:21

Hey give me cramps- it's the width ways expansion I thing.

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2015 22:21

I am glad someone else agrees motley. Ouchy.

Tanaqui · 06/08/2015 22:21

They. Think. Aah!

motleymop · 06/08/2015 22:23

Ouchy indeedy.

pollypocket99 · 06/08/2015 22:23

I only use lillets because of the sideways expansion. I mean, lengthways expansion - what's the point of that?!
