Tampax pearl

BasinHaircut · 06/08/2015 21:48

I usually just use the compact ones but bought a box of pearl.

The applicators are weird and they seem to expand too much sideways and are uncomfortable to pull out.

Have I got a dodgy box?

Panzee · 06/08/2015 22:26

Cerazette, no periods. :o

Queenbean · 06/08/2015 22:28

Hootsmon totally agre, I only hse

Queenbean · 06/08/2015 22:28

Whoops! Only use lillets for sideways explanation. What's the point of expanding out lengthways?!

lemonade30 · 06/08/2015 22:29

I'm five foot nine hoots.

I need a long expansion. I've given birth by c section though so.... widthways not so much.

ach there's a plug for every hole. God bless the tampax corporation Wink

GinAndSonic · 06/08/2015 22:29

I dont like applicator tampons at all. I like tampons that expand widthways rather than longways, i used tampax in my youth and they seemed to expand lengthway, and i hated it. I use non applicator ones, usually own brand ones when i use tampons, but i prefer pads these days.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 06/08/2015 22:30

I use the normal pearl or the newer compak pearl when I need tampons, though I use washable pads too. Tesco delivery driver was once treated to my vehement muttering a about smelly fannies when they subbed the scented ones once. I have no shame :o

I've never been able to use the cardboard ones or the applicatorless ones either. All goes wrong and leaks all over the show. I do recycle just about anything the council will take though, so I try my best.

thatsshallot · 06/08/2015 22:31

I've prolapsed since DCs and pearl and lillets are only ones I can use so I do love them but do feel v guilty about non degradable plastic (which obv don't flush). Not so pleased with scented ones I bought by accident

mileend2bermondsey · 06/08/2015 22:34

I've hated applicator tampons ever since I discovered non applicator ones and have never looked back. So much easier to use, take up less storage space and less waste. Go non-applicator ladies!

RealHuman · 06/08/2015 22:35

I don't know about anyone else but I want them to suck moisture out of my vagina. That's kind of the point. Grin

BasinHaircut · 06/08/2015 22:35

panzee I'm on cerazette!

Didn't get periods before DS, now I get short but heavy ones that make me feel crap. I am so bloated I haven't pooed in 2 days! Sorry TMI but these pearl things have annoyed me!

joia · 06/08/2015 22:40

They're the only brand I will use now.

OOAOML · 06/08/2015 22:41

Cerazette gave me lots of bleeding in the first few months but now hardly anything.

Panzee · 06/08/2015 22:44

Basin that's rubbish. :(

eggyface · 06/08/2015 22:44

mooncup mooncup mooncup mooncup!!
Mooncup!!!!!
:-P

paulapompom · 06/08/2015 22:45

I'm a bit scared of trying a mooncup - is that ridiculous? Tis isn't it? I had big twins natural birth, but little bit of plastic? Oohh!

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2015 22:45

Not at all paula. They aren't for everyone, and I wouldn't even consider it no matter how many times they get mentioned on here.

paulapompom · 06/08/2015 22:47

Thanks sparkling x

I hate them! There're too fidgety with the slender, sticklike applicator BUT I didn't know they expanded widthways so I might give them another go. Think I have some sort of prolapse, bladder maybe, and the cardboard applicator ones are not staying put anymore!

Do some people flush the cardboard? I didn't think you could.

pollypocket Grin I thought I was the only juvenile here but I did lol when I first read it, thinking the op was questioning the accommodating ability of her fanjo!

MoJangled · 06/08/2015 22:49

Mooncup Grin Grin Grin

(Bought one 6 months ago and wish I'd discovered it 20 years ago)

But re tampons, have never got on with Tampax at all; they leak, slide out, feel uncomfortable and never once have I found myself roller-blading behind 2 Dalmatians in white jeans while using them. Bloody plastic crappery just adds insult to ineffectiveness. Sainsbury's applicator tampons all the way for me

(until advent of Mooncup joy oh joy)

Too be more specific, as they are a non-absorbant cup they catch stuff flowing (also useful for heavy discharge - much nicer than panty liners) but don't absorb your vaginal secretions.

FortyCoats · 06/08/2015 22:53

I really want to give mooncups a go but I'm worried about nighttime and if I'm using a public bathroom. I'm not sure I'm graceful enough to delicately remove a cup of blood from my vagina whilst trying to hover over a public loo and keep the ends of my trousers of the wet pisscovered floor. I don't want to leave the stall like a murder scene!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/08/2015 22:56

Depends how heavy your flow is. Many people can get away with emptying before they leave in the am and after they return in eve.

At night either do a middle of the night empty if begins to leak or back up with a night time towel (reusable of course ;) )

Brummiegirl15 · 06/08/2015 23:03

I love Pearl!!!

But admit the applicator can be a bit pinchy at times
