"83% of British kids have seen porn by the time they are 13!"

I can't explain what I mean properly arghhhh I think it should be vital to educate kids about sex , pregnancy , sti and positive attitudes towards women . My parents told me honestly when I asked when quite young and my mum has always been very open regarding me talking to her about it

But I feel like it's ok for teenagers to know the facts and know that it's something there going to enjoy but for it not to be normalised at such a young age that's it's like been encouraged

lavender you're right, but I wonder how many porn users, particularly teens, even think that much

Worzels maybe that should be on the sex-ed syllabus too.

I'm swinging between horrified and raging at the attitude of those boys.

Oh my goodness. The attitudes of those boys is depressing.
I have two daughters.
I am worried. Hmm

I am finding this programme fascinating and depressing in equal measures. Our teenagers have an incredible perverse view of what sex actually is and I think that is down to the internet and pornography.

It has given these (impressionable?) teenage boys the idea that women are there to service the men. When the teacher challenged them as to why it would be OK to ejaculate on the girl's face because she had consented to sex and what that said about how they view the girl, one boy piped up straight away "we are using them like we would a tissue." Sad

The girls seem so quiet and unable to voice their disapproval of the boys' ideas and notions. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out...

I can't believe that the teenagers are happy to be filmed talking about all of this, and how it might reflect on them in later years. Horrible attitudes, but created by the easy access to porn, and I wouldn't want a 15-year old to be on nationwide TV saying things they don't realise are awful, or revealing personal information like that.

I think it's so important to talk about sex in an open way with children now. We may want to stick our heads in the sand as adults and hope they just figure it out but as we do the kids are looking at porn and believing that is what sex is.

I was also shocked by the teachers. They seemed so very 'british' and uptight. It is very depressing. I can't believe that the clitoris is never mentioned.

I'm really shocked at how voiceless the girls appear as well!

They seem unable to openly express disgust. Why???

I went to a social media workshop for my kids primary school
Another stat one was 60% of secondary school girls have been asked for an inappropriate picture and of those 60% did it!

Why was she giving the boys homework to shave their pubes? I came in late to the programme.

I'm as depressed by the girls as the boys. They seem resigned to their status wrt sex, how disenfranchised can a generation of women be. I feel sad for them.

Report
Awholelottanosy · 06/08/2015 21:43

Because the boys were saying that girls should have shaven genitals, and that pubic hair was disgusting so the homework was so that the boys could see what it was like to have to shave themselves all the time.

I think educating teenage lads about real life compared to porn for example and empowering the girls is definitely needed in this day and age

However I honestly can't get my head round this helping to lower teen pregnancy and sti rates .

She thinks education should begin in the home and after seeing this I would really like guidelines on how best to go about that. I've always addressed issues and questions as the need arose but perhaps a more proactive approach is needed.

Aren't there any good books out there for teenagers to learn about sex?

Ok Psychobabble so when you see porn how many times do you see a condom? We need to be taking to our young people about the benefit of condoms. The teenage boys I work with a particularly interested in 'delay' condoms.

As for the understanding of how sex toys work, I suppose part of that is about empowering the girls. Most women can not orgasm soley through vaginal intercourse.
