To not like other children commenting on the size of ds's penis

BocaDeTrucha · 06/08/2015 00:04

We're on holiday at the moment and ds is a chubby little 22 months old so most of the time naked. In the last 2 days I've had the following comments: "why is his willy so small?" from a little girl, about 4 years old. And today, the little boy in the bungalow next to ours who has spent 3 days playing with ds, asked " is 'Bob' a boy or a girl?" and when I replied he was a boy, the little boy said "so why doesn't he have a willy?".

Gee, it's not that small!! I got a bit peeved but dh just told me to stop being ridiculous. Am I being ridiculous?

OP posts:
UnsolvedMystery · 06/08/2015 12:39

erm its too small to get surnburnt

WTF??? How can a part of your body be too small to get sunburnt?

Tenieht · 06/08/2015 12:46

Sunburnt baby dick. Not nice.

Binit · 06/08/2015 13:02

If he's not potty trained, it's gross for him to be running naked around a shared area.

If it is hot, he needs to wear a UV suit/shorts tshirt.

samlamb · 06/08/2015 13:04

LazyLohan

^^ What she said. Its an actual thing that people object and consider a toddler with no clothes on unhygienic?! Wow. It is most hygienic to have skin exposed to air, as oxygen actually destroys some bacteria's. Like the OP said he is sun protected. Back off her.

TheCowThatLaughs · 06/08/2015 13:05

Sam, it's in case he's not toilet trained I assume

passmethewineplease · 06/08/2015 13:05

Any need to be so crass Ten? OP has already said he isn't burnt and she's applied cream and stayed out of the sun at the hottest times. No where has she said her toddler is at all sunburnt!

FurtherSupport · 06/08/2015 13:06

I don't think it's the exposed bottom people think is unhygienic samlamb, it's what comes out of it! Op has said DS needs a nappy in the pool, so why doesn't he need a nappy out of the pool?

KevinKnowsImMiserableNow · 06/08/2015 13:10

I wouldn't mind the nudity if he was potty trained but I wouldn't want to be sharing a pool/garden with an incontinent toddler tbh.

MrsFrankRicard · 06/08/2015 13:16

He should be in swim nappy and sunhat at least. You said you were a bit concerned, I'm sure his willy is fine, if there were concerns I think it would be brought up with you when he was born?

CrispyCrispBag · 06/08/2015 13:24

I don't mind nude toddlers per se and wouldn't object on a beach, but by the poolside that's just gross, unless they're fully potty trained. As a 22-month-old who still needs a swim nappy it's clear that he's still considered at risk for the occasional accident, so not ok to let him run around the garden and terrace without a nappy IMO.

Personally I'd also always use a UV suit (top & bottom or all-in-one) anywhere hot, and apply less chemical sun cream. Ever notice how sunscreen dissolves swimsuit fabric? Nasty stuff! I prefer to limit the areas of my children's bodies that have to be lathered in it (as well as staying out of the sun in the middle of the day obviously).

Bumpandkind · 06/08/2015 13:37

Gahh! The comments are starting to read like a daily mail article. 'paedos and killer sun rays round every corner'. Yes we must all make sure our children are sun safe but the posters 'concern' for this seems to have taken over the thread.

Only alpacino seems to get it.

And as I said before OP, I've had similar worries about my son's penis and it's not, as so many posters have suggested, ridiculous to raise concerns.

Good luck and don't take all the nonsense to heart.

ChickChickQuack · 06/08/2015 13:42

Kids are being kids. Why is he naked in front of strangers anyway? Put some clothes on him!

GobblersKnob · 06/08/2015 13:58

Fuck me this thread is bonkers, no wonder the op has fucked off.

'Best get some pants on yr kid hun, coz like there is well weird peeps about innit'.

Hmm x a million.

I'm sure op has the sun angle covered, but fwiw sun cream and shade would be more than adequate protection, I have sat on a thai beach reading for the best part of eight hours all through the midday sun, in the shade, under trees, with not even a smear of sun cream and did not burn or catch the sun in the slightest.

maxxytoe · 06/08/2015 13:58

is this a joke

Jo4040 · 06/08/2015 14:25

It really has gotten out of hand hasn't it....

UptheChimney · 06/08/2015 15:06

I despair if there are people who think that a baby under 2 is still a baby in my view shouldn't be naked in public.

posters projecting their own issues onto a 22 month old child ... Sad

summerandautumn · 06/08/2015 15:11

I remember reading an article about Robert Black, who murdered four little girls in the 1980s and one of his favourite pastimes was going to beaches when it was hot with the explicit purpose of seeing children naked so don't kid yourselves it doesn't happen.

Fromparistoberlin73 · 06/08/2015 15:15

agh how did we get to paedophile serial killers? but we did. bingo

CrispyCrispBag · 06/08/2015 15:17

I haven't seen a single poster objecting to the idea of toddler nudity per se, but some of us don't like the idea of potty-training accidents by the poolside! Or, as I experienced recently, on the terrace outside the local gym where I had intended to have a coffee. Soon changed my mind when I realised that the pungent smell of sewage was due to a massive pile of human poo, presumably left by one of the toddlers who were merrily running around in the buff (yes, there is also an outdoor pool). I certainly had no issues with their nakedness in itself, but that was just gross. None of the mums seemed to want to take responsibility for it either (too embarrassed maybe). Yuck!

summerandautumn · 06/08/2015 15:18

Because paedophiles have an unpleasant pastime of being sexually stimulated by naked children and the thread is about naked children.

I knew one of the victims. It was tremendously upsetting actually.

CrispyCrispBag · 06/08/2015 15:20

Cross-posted with summerandautumn, but most of us have objected from a hygiene point of view. I don't mind on a large beach (not kidding myself that all the children don't wee in the sea in any case) but it's different on a terrace/poolside/garden IMO.

ChickChickQuack · 06/08/2015 15:21

The OP has an issue with other children commenting on her naked DS.
Posters therefore advised to put clothes on him, so there would then be no issue.
Seems simple enough.

Floggingmolly · 06/08/2015 15:29

Just because he's beside a pool all day is no reason to let it all hang out. Put some pants on him. Besides, a sunburnt willy would be no laughing matter.
Maybe it's just me, but I honestly can't see why being two as opposed to four or five means it's ok to have your arse on constant display...

pinktrufflechoc · 06/08/2015 15:32

It's not just you!

Gileswithachainsaw · 06/08/2015 15:42

So the sun burn stuff is apparent sorted

do people really not see a problem with an in potty trained child running about a shared garden/terrace with no nappy on?

I don't care what age people are let it all hang out on a beach til you die for all I care. but of your likely to poo where others are building sand castles or Piss over someone's feet on the way past then wear something to catch it.
