Or is it that I am so proud of my own daughter for working lots of shifts in student bars whilst studying for end of year exams, to pay for her PADI in UK waters, as well as passing the theory, supporting small Britsh businesses, seems slightly worthier? There is bigger news in the world this weekend.

but I don't agree with personal attacks on DoC.
If she's deserving of it why shouldn't she be, all of them can be personally criticised when the occasion calls and she isn't immune to it. If there seem to be a lot of attacks on her that's because she isn't being seen as pulling her weight. Whether she likes it or not she has to expect that. She's well rewarded for it. IMO and many others she's bone idle, Diana was criticised for many things but never for that.

Coincidentally the DC just did a PADI Bubblemaker course and was v.impressed the DoC passed her course. Inspired, we've signed up to the SEAL team. Not such a bad role model after all.

rabbitstew · 06/08/2015 17:02

Learning to scuba dive whilst on holiday is not a sign of bone idleness. Reporting it as though it is news is the problem.

Having had 2 babies in the last 2 years and having spent nearly half of the last 3 years with severe morning sickness, she is unlikely to have been able to do anything very much. If she carries on being seen to do nothing but go on holiday, then fair enough, but to complain she hasn't done anything much recently is unfair, considering. I wouldn't want a vomiting Royal pretending to be interested in anything other than sticking her head down the toilet. And this is coming from someone who has pretty much no interest in the Royal Family, but even I heard she had more than the average level of vomiting to contend with.

You're probably right about Diana Dixie but I do think the DOC should do a lot more. More and more people are noticing how lazy she is.

tarashill · 06/08/2015 17:10

Surely it doesn't make someone a role model when they do something for their own enjoyment. Most young mothers would not have the time or money to do such things. It certainly doesn't make me admire her for that.

TSSDNCOP · 06/08/2015 17:11

Not copying, just thinking more about a subject because it was in the paper and we noticed and talked about it.

tarashill · 06/08/2015 17:14

Learning to scuba dive on holiday is something that is done for pleasure. When you don't have that much time to fill your days, because everything is done for you it would seem like a nice thing to do. Just because it is an arduous thing to learn doesn't make her any less lazy than what she appears to be known for. She's done it for her own personal satisfaction not for the good of others.

rabbitstew · 06/08/2015 17:24

tarashill - you know b*gger all about what the DoC does or doesn't do. All you know is what the newspapers and BBC report about her. It's fair enough to say you think she ought to be seen to be doing more, and to ask why on earth we were told about her scuba diving course, but do you really think it necessary to get so bitchy and personal about someone you've never met and describe her as lazy?

rabbitstew · 06/08/2015 17:29

Even not pulling her weight would be preferable to "lazy." And what about Prince Andrew, or Prince Edward, or any of the rest of the Royal Family? Do we have the faintest idea what most of them are up to? We only tend to hear about most of them when they've been up to something they shouldn't have been doing. I have no idea what the Queen does with her day. I'm not really interested, tbh. That's why I have sympathy with those who ask why any taxpayers' money goes towards maintaining the monarchy, because I don't really have a clue what most of them do.

tarashill · 06/08/2015 17:40

Yes rabbitstew and you can be assured if any of them were doing anything of note it would be reported by the newspapers, especially the DoC who the media love. Are you trying to imply that she's doing lots of hard work incognito away from the cameras?? It is not bitchy to hold to account any member of the royal family, particularly those who do f all. This thread is about the DoC, so I am giving my opinions on her. If it was about Charles or Andrew I'd also have plenty to say about them.

If one particular person in the royal family seems to get more attacks than others, then instead of some people rushing to that persons defence and saying how unfair it is they should ask themselves why that person is under fire. There's usually a bloody good reason for it.

rabbitstew · 06/08/2015 18:29

Like they've had severe morning sickness for the entire duration of 2 pregnancies over the last 3 years. I seldom find there is a bloody good reason to describe people they've never met as lazy.

rabbitstew · 06/08/2015 18:31

So, if the media still love the DoC, then who is it who is saying she is lazy? And why is she still loved by the media? Do any of the Royal Family "do" enough to be loved by everyone???? What do people expect them to do?

rabbitstew · 06/08/2015 18:31

What do you think the DoC should be doing?

tarashill · 06/08/2015 18:39

I have every sympathy for anyone who has severe morning sickness but let's not milk it. Even if she hadnt have had it I suspect they'd still be people falling over themselves to defend her. Of course you can say who is lazy out of the royal family. You just take a look at how many official engagements they've undertaken. She's never had a job or done anything worthwhile apart from hang around for years waiting to get her prince. Most thought Princess Margaret was lazy, we didn't have to meet her to know that.

tarashill · 06/08/2015 18:40

What do you think the DoC should be doing?
Something to earn her bloody keep that's what.

What do you think they should be doing, or do you not realise that the highly paid royal family have duties and obligations.
The media love the DoC because they know the countriy's full of suckers who buy into all that crap.

tarashill · 06/08/2015 18:51

Don't forget the tennis Ego, all in the name of official duties of course.

LazyLohan · 06/08/2015 18:52

Even with the morning sickness, in 2011 when she was a royal for 7 months and not pregnant she only did 36 engagements.

In 2012, when she was only briefly pregnant and could only have had max 6 weeks morning sickness max she did 111. That's compared to 592 by the PoW, 566 by Princess Anne, 425 by the Queen and 340 by the DoE. That's a nonagenarian, an octogenarian and two people very close to retirement age.

William did 88 engagements that year alongside a full time job, Harry did 61, but was a serving soldier who did a tour of duty in Afghanistan that year.

She was a young, able bodied woman with nothing else on her plate and she did the bare minimum she could get away with.
