To ask where I can send my 57p?

drspouse · 31/07/2015 20:47

According to the Mirror if all the asylum seekers currently in Calais came into the UK and (highly unlikely) never paid any tax, it would cost each of us 57p.
To save a group of people from some of the most unimaginable horrors in their home countries, I'm more than happy to pay that.
So, where do I sign to pay up (and make it clear I'm happy for them to officially seek asylum and have their claims verified)?

I'll save them from th oppressive nation of France

youarekiddingme · 31/07/2015 21:22

It's not about the 57p though.

It's about the already stretched employment, housing, health care and schooling we have in the uk.

If we don't have enough jobs and housing for those already living here how do we cope with more?

People already living here are struggling to afford rental properties and mortgages due to wages V housing costs. So how do people with no income live?

I have no idea what the answer is but there does have to be a better solution or situation that's occurring ATM.

bearleftmonkeyright · 31/07/2015 21:23

Yes "the illegals" are clearly making the most of the opportunity. Especially that young family that I saw trying to climb over the fence this morning. I really, really can't imagine the desperation.

longfingernails · 31/07/2015 21:24

Could you please explain why an illegal is more deserving of your (wasted) 57p than buying some tea for a legal immigrant with high skills, high earning potential and who will add to Britain?

FarFromAnyRoad · 31/07/2015 21:24

You're completely right youare - but there's you being sensible and looking at the thing in the round instead of choosing to stick your fingers in your ears and start throwing 57ps around!

bearleftmonkeyright · 31/07/2015 21:25

*the family I saw was on the news. I cannot believe this is happening in our country.

swallowed · 31/07/2015 21:25

Why would an immigrant with high earning potential need me to buy them a cup of tea?

Garlick · 31/07/2015 21:26

Meanwhile, the UK is spending £50,000 per deportee to yank people out of the country, on ghost flights, without warning, leaving their families behind here.

SaucyJack · 31/07/2015 21:27

But where would they live?

I'd happily give 57p but that won't sustain them over the course of a lifetime.

Camping in Britain gets a bit nippy come October.

longfingernails · 31/07/2015 21:28

Garlick Sounds good to me, though I would deport the families too. Though I would have thought it can be much cheaper, we don't need to give the illegals any creature comforts when we deport them.

LottieDoubtie · 31/07/2015 21:29

Donated. My 57p and some extra 57ps for those that either can't afford too or have no basic human compassion.

frankly I think we should keep supporting them until we all have an acceptable standard of living. If that means mine has to drop a bit, fair enough.

Fantasyland · 31/07/2015 21:30

Long finger, surely it's obvious the answer ? I would rather give money to an illegal immigrant as they are desperate , starving, homeless and not much chance of work and just trying to stay alive

The legal immigrant has a job and food and a house.

longfingernails · 31/07/2015 21:31

swallowed An illegal will detract from Britain. The high skilled legal migrant will add to it. By making legal migrants welcome you will make Britain a better place. By deporting illegals we also make Britain a better place.

FarFromAnyRoad · 31/07/2015 21:31

Interesting article Garlick. Even more interesting though was the comments section underneath.

swallowed · 31/07/2015 21:32

But why would they need a cup of tea from me?

ghostyslovesheep · 31/07/2015 21:32

donated x happily

GrumpyOldBiddy2 · 31/07/2015 21:33

'An illegal' the words of one who is truly well informed Hmm

Theresaflyinmyhouse · 31/07/2015 21:34

Surely if we allow these people in... Support them, help them, they too can contribute to our society? You're assuming that they're all terrible, thick people who DON'T have the ability to earn/support their families/pay taxes.

longfingernails · 31/07/2015 21:34

swallowed They don't. I just think it's a better use of 57p.

Hellotherehowareyoudoing · 31/07/2015 21:34

In seriousness, is there somewhere we can donate online? No human should be suffering as these people are.

swallowed · 31/07/2015 21:35

Oh right. Well I'm an immigrant, and mines a small skinny gingerbread latte please Smile

longfingernails · 31/07/2015 21:36

Theresaflyinmyhouse Why would they contribute more than someone who migrates here legally, with good qualifications and income? Do you have any evidence that illegals contribute more than legal migrants, or is this, in fact, just more holier-than-thou leftwing claptrap?

Theresaflyinmyhouse · 31/07/2015 21:36

Also, I'd donate the money and buy someone a cup of tea.

I'd also increase our taxes so we can have good schools and healthcare. Don't believe the propaganda that they're failing because of the immigration and lazy healthcare workers.

silverglitterpisser · 31/07/2015 21:37

Well said Grumpy . I imagine most people who use it r brainwashed by the msm who also use it as often as they can as it dehumanises n slights those poor, desperate people.

Fantasyland · 31/07/2015 21:38

Long finger your argument is 57 p is better given to someone who is richer and in a better position as they have a job than someone potentially starving and risking death to get into Britain??

Seriously are you Katie Hopkins ?
