Savoury. I just seem to add it to everything, shep pie, beans on toast, Greek salad, chips and I can't think of anything it doesn't go on. I've only recently discovered it, but am I over doing it? Everything tastes a bit bbq

Mix a little with some mayo, pepper & Tabasco & stir in prawns...

Lj8893 · 30/07/2015 08:47

I rub chicken breasts in smoked paprika and put them in the oven with chorizo, cubed potato, garlic and chicken stock. Yummy!!!!

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 30/07/2015 10:50

I love smoked paprika and also use La Chinata (the red tin one). It's a gorgeous background flavour in vegetable dishes, really good in veggie chilli. Also makes a great sauce to go with pulled pork rolls etc. It's one of my top five spices.

Delicious!

MadAngryGnome · 30/07/2015 12:02

You should try smoked chipotle - delicious with smoked paprika and cumin in EVERYTHING.

MostAmused · 30/07/2015 13:21

Absolutely amazing on a cheese omelette. Discovered when I'd ran out of smoked cheddar Grin

sherbetpips · 30/07/2015 13:39

i love paprika. I need a bumper sticker that says that.

Making brian turners chicken and chorizo tonight, with lashings of paprika... cant wait... may even sprinkle some on the roast potatoes....

OldBloodCallsToOldBlood · 30/07/2015 14:13

I love and loathe this thread in equal measures because it is making me HUNGRY but I can't be bothered to cook anything.

Smoked paprika on a hardboiled egg with salad? Would that work?

RosePetels · 30/07/2015 14:15

It's great on top of humous

Elllimam · 30/07/2015 17:08

Oh I'm definitely trying it on an omelette

howabout · 30/07/2015 17:18

I am trying those chickpeas and the nut roast and the lentil sausages. All sound yummy!

I am in the middle of making crispy chicken coated in garlic, lemon, flour and SP and fried to have with buttered pasta, peppers and peas.

OldBloodCallsToOldBlood · 30/07/2015 17:49

I can confirm it's lovely on top of an egg salad with mayo.

BertieBotts · 30/07/2015 17:54

In Germany they have started putting a little sachet of smoked paprika with happy meals and a paper bag. You're supposed to tip your chips and nuggets into the bag and coat them with the paprika. It's DELICIOUS and really bloody lethal. We had gone off Mcdonald's but this drew us back in Angry

Of course it's basically the national spice of Germany and is on absolutely everything.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/07/2015 19:18

I agree, but I'm biased. I'm Hungarian!Smile

same answer to "AIBU to add soured cream to everything?" WinkGrin

Pumpkinette · 30/07/2015 19:31

I love it on cauliflower cheese.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/07/2015 19:36

have you ever tried making fish with paprika?
white, meaty fish for pan frying is best.
mix paprika, salt and flour, coat the fish on boat sides then fry.
the only fish I would eat when I was little. it's delicious

Aridane · 30/07/2015 19:40

Ugh - I find it gross - horribly distinctive, even in small amounts in recipes. I chucked mine out...

Pixi2 · 30/07/2015 19:41

I've just coated a chicken breast in cayenne pepper and eaten it with spinach wrapped in a corn tortilla, with Greek yoghurt on top.

Cayenne pepper is the dieters secret ingredient. It either gives you heartburn or burns your mouth, either way, I cannot be bothered to finish my food Grin.

TiggyD · 30/07/2015 20:28

I agree. I like to put chunks of potatoes under my paprika when I cook it.

Sapat · 30/07/2015 20:48

I use it in chilli, I have the sainsbury's one.

marshmallowpies · 30/07/2015 20:49

It's my go-to spice for adding to soups and stews and, well, pretty much everything.

I do remember the first time I used it I went a bit OTT and served my friends a goulash which was WAY too hot for me but they kept on doggedly eating it saying 'no, no it's fine, honestly...'

MinesaBottle · 30/07/2015 20:53

I made a lentil stew the other night with smoked paprika AND cayenne. I love em both, they are so versatile

RonaldMcDonald · 30/07/2015 22:43

Everything

nocoolnamesleft · 31/07/2015 00:38

Smoked paprika is awesome, and I eat it in industrial quantities. Second only to cinnamon....

SwedishEdith · 31/07/2015 00:50

I want some goulash now. I've started just putting the pot of cayenne on the table, much like salt and pepper.

There was a woman on 'Come dine with me' a few years ago who carried a bottle of Tabacsco in her bag. I understand why she did that now.
