Is a parking one...

So I live in a converted Victorian house which is now 3 flats.

Each flat has a numbered parking space, however due to the shape, any more than 3 cars and at least one person is blocked in (so visitors must park elsewhere).

Two people who do not live here have taken it upon themselves to park in our spaces, it seems they are there 9-5 so not a problem all the time (I have a day off on Thursdays so is an issue then as am blocked in) but at the moment I have a week off and went out this morning (about 11, no cars!) came back about 2 and there they were, in my space and my neighbours. I've had to block them in.

At first I didn't know who they were, and have still never seen them so I left a note on the car which usually blocks me in asking that if they had to block me in could they please leave a number. I received a really rude note back and no number.

I'm getting really frustrated, I don't think it's an unfair expectation to be able to access my allocated parking space when I need it.

AIBU or should I just continue having to find another parking space in town? Angry

I suspect if you explain the issues to the land owner they would probably agree to you installing one anyhow?

AliceAlice1979 · 22/07/2015 20:08

I would if it were my land.

ApologiseForAnotherDay · 22/07/2015 20:18

Some people are such arseholes. If you explained the situation to your landlord maybe he'd give permission for bollards?

bloodyteenagers · 22/07/2015 20:39

Just a thought.
What if one of the others or the
ll is subletting the spaces.
Oh park here. No one here during working hours

BabyFeets · 22/07/2015 21:47

if you do block them in, set up a camera just incase they scratch your car or something.

KatoPotato · 22/07/2015 21:52

Marking place

HarlettOScara · 22/07/2015 21:53

Dog shit under the driver door handle.

Vaseline all over the windscreen.

Let the air out of a tyre (or 4)

I used to live beside a football stadium. We didn't have a car at the time but my neighbour did and he took match goers parking in his space very personally.

VivaLeBeaver · 22/07/2015 22:00

I would lie in wait for him and go bat shit fucking crazy. Id be a screaming loon. How fucking dare he! You need to get mad about this. Don't let him park there, don't tell him it's ok during the day, etc. it is your private space and he is not to park there at all....how would he like it if you parked on his drive!

I like the Vaseline and dog shit idea,

Wink
HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/07/2015 22:26

bloodyteenagers I have heard of that happening before!

maninawomansworld · 22/07/2015 22:34

Letting air out of tyres might be fun - you're not actually committing a crime and there is no damage to the vehicle (I'll bet they don't have a pump in the car though hahaha)!

Collaborate · 22/07/2015 23:40

Actually, letting the air out of tyres is theft. One of the first things you get taught as a law student.

dodobookends · 23/07/2015 00:15

You don't happen to know anyone who owns a box van or a motorhome do you (or a horse box, anything big really), that could be parked on a Friday lunchtime and left there for a few days?

HappenstanceMarmite · 23/07/2015 00:46

Block them in and do the dog shit thing

AliceAlice1979 · 23/07/2015 07:30

Someone up thread offered a land rover? Love the idea of a Friday lunch time barricade.

GarlicDoughballsInGlitter · 23/07/2015 09:43

Agree speak to the landlord.

DirtyMugPolice · 23/07/2015 12:22

Any update today OP?

GraysAnalogy · 23/07/2015 12:50

What area are you in? My brother is a parking enforcement officer, I'm not sure if strictly he can do anything but the person who's parked there might not know that...

FeralBeryl · 23/07/2015 13:11

Gah the cheeky swines Shock
What area are you in Lemon? Happy to contribute Range Rover for an evening 'park off'
