Is a parking one...

So I live in a converted Victorian house which is now 3 flats.

Each flat has a numbered parking space, however due to the shape, any more than 3 cars and at least one person is blocked in (so visitors must park elsewhere).

Two people who do not live here have taken it upon themselves to park in our spaces, it seems they are there 9-5 so not a problem all the time (I have a day off on Thursdays so is an issue then as am blocked in) but at the moment I have a week off and went out this morning (about 11, no cars!) came back about 2 and there they were, in my space and my neighbours. I've had to block them in.

At first I didn't know who they were, and have still never seen them so I left a note on the car which usually blocks me in asking that if they had to block me in could they please leave a number. I received a really rude note back and no number.

I'm getting really frustrated, I don't think it's an unfair expectation to be able to access my allocated parking space when I need it.

AIBU or should I just continue having to find another parking space in town? Angry

You sound faaaar too nice Op

Where are you - I'll come around with my car to block them in!

Ahemily · 22/07/2015 17:05

Me too!

MrsPeeee · 22/07/2015 17:09

Is anyone else refreshing for an update? Hope you're ok OP!

Ohfourfoxache · 22/07/2015 17:12

At the very least can I suggest that you take a photo or get the car reg? Just in case something happens it can be used to track the owner down.

Ahemily · 22/07/2015 17:16

No, definitely not MrsP.... [whistles]

JakeBallardswife · 22/07/2015 17:18

I'd put Lazylou's note onto the car. Brilliant. Good luck though OP.

lemoncurd20 · 22/07/2015 17:19

Guys I'm fine, thanks for the concern!

something really odd has happened. Partner just got home, our car was there, the car next to the blocked one was there (so blocked side and behind, front and other side by walls) but the blocked car wasn't there.

The other car but have moved and then the blocked one performed some crazy 1000 point turning. The other car was just driving off as he got home.

By driving off I mean the guy was stationary but had just the engine going.

Strange! I wonder if he'll park there again tomorrow.

LazyLouLou · 22/07/2015 17:22

Well, they obviously park as a team. Maybe it will have been enough hassle for them not to bother in future.

But take pictures, keep a diary, etc.

BlueKarou · 22/07/2015 17:25

Witchcraft! No other explanation.

bumbleymummy · 22/07/2015 17:26

Woo and parking. This thread has everything! Grin

Andrewofgg · 22/07/2015 17:27

Can't the three of you share the cost of a chain and a padlock?

MissDemelzaCarne · 22/07/2015 17:29

I'd wait until your DH gets home if you can.

Momzilla82 · 22/07/2015 19:07

Any chance they lifted the car blocking them in our the way? We did this to a lecturers car once and moved it to the other side of the car park irrelevant detail

I left in gear and handbrake. Honestly I hadn't thought it could have been moved.

I just can't fathom it, I didn't hear any ferocious turning.

Custardcream14 · 22/07/2015 19:32

Sorry. I'm lemon, apparently I have a different account on my computer.

Rainbunny · 22/07/2015 19:36

Seriously it's time to get these cars towed when they do this! I would be contacting my landlord to check what the process is for clamping/towing, if the landlord leaves it up to you I would be calling towing companies the moment it happens again. As for blocking cars in, I would be worried about my car getting keyed tbh. Towing/clamping is the way to go, they clearly aren't scared of angering the residents about this, hit them in their wallets.

AliceAlice1979 · 22/07/2015 19:37

Will they be there tomorrow do you think?

Custardcream14 · 22/07/2015 19:48

I imagine so Alice, but I won't see them because i'll be at work.

kali110 · 22/07/2015 19:50

Clearly cowards!

AliceAlice1979 · 22/07/2015 19:56

Sorry you have to work tomorrow. for my sake

You can get bollards that you can bolt upright when you need to block a space and leave down when you want access. If be looking at the cost of one of them if I were you.

FuckingLiability · 22/07/2015 19:59

You can't clamp on private land any more.

I would just keep blocking them in till they get the message, or buy a folding bollard. I also wouldn't leave a note with your flat number on it. It's pretty clear they will either ignore it or abuse you.

Custardcream14 · 22/07/2015 20:00

Me too, was meant to be having a week off but something urgent came up!

Can I put a bollard up if it's not my land? Will google.
