Gets away with making film after film of a minty old bezzer copping off with Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix and Colin Firth (shame on you Colin, for signing up you sinner, and shame on you for that film you did with Emily wot sit) when the actors are old enough to be her dad.
I'm so sick of seeing movies exult this crusty old male fantasy. I guess we should be grateful Woody doesn't book actresses that look under 16, thankful for small mercies for 'artists' pedalling their ill concealed perv-ons.
I can't even enjoy his funny films now.

From that list of 45+ actresses I only see six as movie actresses of A-list standing although they are all undoubtedly beautiful albeit some well preserved with botox et al

I can think of only one film that really got slated for the older man younger woman scenario and that was when Sean Connery starred with Catherine Zeta Jones. I don't find it funny either. It's more depressing than funny imo. The idea that an older woman is a woman younger than the man saying that line......

But it's a self deprecating joke, the laugh is at the expense of the man, not the woman.

That's the way I took it. His idea of an older woman is a woman just a bit younger than him instead of a lot younger than him. He's taking the piss out of his own shallowness, by highlighting the fact that he couldn't possible have a relationship with a woman who was actually older than he was.

I think it's very funny. Ho hum.

My husband is older than me by quite some margin. Even so I raised my eyebrows at Tom Cruise's new relationship. I think she might actually be younger than his own children, if not then certainly the same age. That is frankly weird, imo.

yes, I would find the idea that my father's gf had been in nappies when he was parenting his own children very disturbing. A man who doesn't find that disturbing, and goes right ahead and has a sexual relationship with a woman the same age as his children anyway, that man has no self-awareness at all.

TTWK, I get that, I mean, I understand it! perhpas, as a sinlge woman of 45 who can't get a date with a man her own age, it's like the second time onewatches East is East! ykwim? The first time you see the humour. The second time...... it is depressing.

To me it's a joke that women get grosser as they get older so of course he's not so depraved as to go for someone older than him, just less adolescent than usual.

Age gaps of more than 10 to 15 years are weird and mostly a guy with a younger woman. And every such relationship I've witnessed involves a power imbalance and some sort of fiancial or emotional exploitation.
