Shouldn't we expect just a little bit more of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Never turned up for one single memorial service for the armed forces, but there at Center Court, Wimbledon, rubbing shoulders with a load of celebs, and entertaining Brad and Angelina Pitt at Kensington Palace. Is this what her royal life boils down to.

Because, you know, you ARE a teacher.

Not stereotyping at all.

dougieroseagain · 26/07/2015 15:26

I meant, are you sure you haven't been banned?

I always find teachers are very defensive and don't like being questioned.

A report published by the TES in 1984 found that teachers are very easy to wind up.

So you wouldn't stereotype someone based on their age?

Like I said, I wouldn't stereotype someone and assume that is what they think because of the group they belong to

That's a bit rich coming from you Ego given what you posted earlier on when you discovered the age of a pp! However you mash your words up (i.e. "I wouldn't be surprised if they held certain vews ... etc etc") it means the same thing!

I find it surprising that people in their 60s who were very active politically as students- going on marches etc suddenly become cosy little old ladies at 60 who read all about the royal family and knit booties for the babies. I expect we all love a sing song too with 'knees up mother brown' and a good game of bingo. Hmm

Most people are happy that the Queen is doing a good job. She gives stability above all else. No one else has had weekly meetings with every prime minister since Churchill. Visited so many countries in an official capacity for over 60 years. Met every famous actor, artist, sports person etc etc etc.
If MN had been around in 1957/8 the Queen would have been torn to shreds and yet Catherine is supposed to have proved herself and achieved great things in a short time. The Queen hadn't achieved in 1950s.

I dispute the fact that some one aged 60+ is more likely to think something- and even if I accepted they did I find it highly patronising to patted on the head with 'there, there, dear - it is only to be expected at your age'.

dougieroseagain · 26/07/2015 16:57

Shock at Ego for pulling a stunt like that.

I'm very sorry to hear about your past, but please don't use it as a cop out when we've highlighted the inconsistencies in your argument.

Good - perhaps we can establish that my view is as valid as anyone else's view- and despite what the data says we are all different.

I have continually said that I am not particularly a monarchist, but I think it the best system at the moment.
I am only here to say that I think it very unfair on Catherine when there is nothing she can do that is right, by the very fact she exists. Maybe she will have proved herself by the time she is 80yrs and become 'A National Treasure' Smile.

Roussette · 26/07/2015 17:35

I must be a bit thick then... because I just don't think like this - I don't put people into compartments. For instance, is it honestly true that a Labour supporter and republican is more likely to be an atheist?? And what's the South East got to do with it?!

I don't hold great faith in data to be honest. I don't know your age Ego and you have offered your profession without being asked. I just take views proferred on here as personal views irrelevant of age, profession and location.

I think there are 'lies, damn lies and statistics' and therefore I ignore it all and take people on their merits.

yup it was meant to be a jolly for her
but if it had panned out, donors would have coughed up enough for 40 kids to have a fab experience
and again,
they are what gets publicity into events

its a job

His dad is another issue, but I suspect that if those two were told "here's £10m, now fuck off out of public life" they would be utterly delighted

Mehitabel6 · 26/07/2015 18:10

Is am afraid that contrary to 'data' I don't read DM and my New Year resolution was not even to click on links to it. (I am sure that 'data' would put me as a DM reader- being a female over 60)
