Wee sample in mil bathroom

basilflower · 06/07/2015 08:40

Just walked into the bathroom in my mil house. There is a wee sample on the side. AIBU to think this is grim, or because it's her house is it acceptable to leave wee samples wherever you like?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 06/07/2015 12:22

Do you find it grim because you think she might be pregnant?

SaveOurBogBrushes · 06/07/2015 12:23

Was hoping this was a reverse and you were the MIL being chastised by your DIL. YABVU.

ApocalypseThen · 06/07/2015 12:27

Mothers in law don't just powder their noses in the toilet. I'm quite disturbed by that notion.

CarbeDiem · 06/07/2015 12:35

I'm with the others - yes YABVU and a tad childish.
A closed sample of urine in the samplers own bathroom is grim Hmm sounds like you've led quite a sheltered life OP.

PurpleSwift · 06/07/2015 12:49

My mum left a sample on a bus once...

Anyway OP yes yabu. Clearly it was a mistake and it's just wee. In a pot. In a bathroom.

CrystalHaze · 06/07/2015 12:58

This is one of those AIBUs that is so pathetic it can only have been made made up in order get a reaction. After all, MILs get little sympathy on here, so OP presumably thought they'd get a rousing chorus of 'ewwww, horrid MIL!' from all and sundry.

On the off-chance that it's true, then OP needs to grow up. Hmm

OfaFrenchMind · 06/07/2015 12:59

Somebooooodyyyyyy does not liiiiiiike their MIL, nanana!

hiddenhome · 06/07/2015 13:03

Obviously she can't carry it around in her bladder all day otherwise she'll burst Hmm

SnapesCapes · 06/07/2015 13:03

DS2 is prone to UTI's and often has to pee in pots. Lost count of the times I've found one (filled to the brim) in my handbag after forgetting to drop it to Dr before work, or sat on the kitchen table as he's abandoned it there. Vile in those places, in a bathroom totally fine.

ungratefulfecker · 06/07/2015 13:04

Mean!

FFS

I would have left it there and if I had company coming I still wouldn't move it unless it was the Queen

It is urine. Nothing gross about it.

Idontseeanydragons · 06/07/2015 13:12

Hope your MIL is ok, full marks to her if she actually managed to fill the fucker up to the top without peeing on her hand, can she come on here and give some tips?
YABU. And rather odd.
I once pulled out an old handbag to use that had been in the back of my wardrobe and found a full sample pot in the pocket from my pregnancy. DD was nearly a year old at that point.
Now that's grim!!! GrinGrin

Stubbed · 06/07/2015 13:30

If the pot of wee disturbs you so much, how do you manage to change a nappy? Or potty train? I am forever dealing with my children's wee.

My dd (22 months) was trying to be helpful, carrying a full potty of my ds' wee around yesterday. I didn't know he'd done it, she was trying to tip it down the loo, went everywhere...

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2015 13:42

My ds put on a coat last autumn for the first time since the previous winter and found a bag of dog poo in the pocket.........

Jo4040 · 06/07/2015 14:12

OP... Please can we have your response now please...

BumpTheElephant · 06/07/2015 20:08

YABU. Where else is she meant to put it? I presume she's taking it to an appointment or something the same day rather than just keeping a pot of piss for the sake of it.

Kamden · 06/07/2015 20:35

"But it's not likely that she has done it to piss you off!"

I don't know why but this made me giggle.

FanFuckingTastic · 06/07/2015 20:59

I buy clear plastic cups, like the ones for parties/BBQs, the sample goes in there first, and then it's possible to squeeze the edges in a bit and pour it into the sample pot without any spillage.

They are kept in the bathroom, with the urine analysis stick tub, and binned after use. Makes my life a heck of a lot easier.

Meepandyoup · 06/07/2015 21:03

Come towork with me Op, I look at around 600 pots of wee a day. As well as lots of poo, pus, blood, sputum, semen and (my particular favourite) toenail clippings!

Germgirl, what do you test the toenail clippings for?

Idontseeanydragons · 06/07/2015 21:06

FanFuckingTastic I'm slightly embarrassed that I never thought of that before Blush

ADishBestEatenCold · 06/07/2015 21:08

Love the way your first thought was concern for your MIL's health and well-being, basilflower, given that her GP may well have asked for the sample as part of a clinical investigation!

Also, where should she have put it?

MistressDeeCee · 07/07/2015 01:48

This has to be the ULTIMATE in noseyness Grin

Puts me in mind of one of my granny's back home sayings -

its not everything you see you must say...

turdfairynomore · 07/07/2015 02:05

My mum wears her urine in a.pouch! No big deal! In fact at night she links her wee "wee bag" to a big "wee bag" & it sits beside the bed on a.stand! Still no big deal! Not even for.my 17 year old son who wouldn't turn a hair at helping her carry it to the bathroom in the morning or being with her while she empties it! None of us would even notice a sample bottle!

Wagglebee · 07/07/2015 02:35

It's wee.

Completely baffled as to what could be grim or offensive about a bit of wee in a pot. Confused

If I saw one in someone's bathroom I wouldn't bat an eye except maybe to feel concern that they were ill.

If I left one on the side in my own bathroom and someone else saw it I wouldn't care at all.

It is wee.
