To be pissed off that our neighbour is mowing the lawn right now at 9pm?

Kids have just been woken up, he started about 15mins ago, currently doing hos section of the communal green space outside, I'm guessing he's then going to move on to his front and back gardens. It's a petrol one too so effing noisy!

Well, if he's been at work all day, when else would he do it? And it would have been pretty hot to have been mowing earlier anyway.

AnyoneForTennis · 01/07/2015 21:23

That's what I thought clam

ihavenonameonhere · 01/07/2015 21:23

You can be annoyed but he is not really doing anything wrong

IUseAnyName · 01/07/2015 21:23

Okay, so aibu!.... Shall I ask him to come round afterwards to put my tired hot grumpy kids to bed, who struggled in the 1st place due to the heat?

IUseAnyName · 01/07/2015 21:24

He's retired.

No, YANBU. 9pm is too late to be mowing the lawn. It won't matter if it has to wait until the weekend.

Pipbin · 01/07/2015 21:24

Sorry but I don't think that's too late really.
I wouldn't do it myself but I wouldn't be too annoyed. It'll only last so long unless you live at Sandringham.

GinUpGirl · 01/07/2015 21:24

I don't think 9pm is late enough to complain.

Bean74 · 01/07/2015 21:25

Mine have just started a bonfire Hmm

IssyStark · 01/07/2015 21:25

And with your follow up, you are definitely, definitely not BU

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/07/2015 21:25

It might be annoying but it's not unreasonable.

ScarlettDarling · 01/07/2015 21:25

op I don't think yabu. I'd say 7.30 is a cut off for noisy stuff if you have young children living nearby.

Squeegle · 01/07/2015 21:25

It's annoying but not the end of the world. First world problem.

98% of stuff on mumsnet aibu is a 1st world problem Confused

So when is a reasonable time to stop?

OP posts:
annielouise · 01/07/2015 21:28

I think it's anti-social. People are putting kids to bed and settling down to watch TV. Who mows the lawn at 9pm! I'd think 8pm too late. YANBU

alltoomuchrightnow · 01/07/2015 21:29

yabu. def not late. he was almost certainly waiting for it to be cooler

AnyoneForTennis · 01/07/2015 21:29

It's still light, as hot as it was at lunchtime and kids are still out playing here. The world does not stop at 7.30

WorraLiberty · 01/07/2015 21:30

I agree it's annoying but not completely unreasonable. It would have been far too hot to do it earlier on.

Kids are resilient. They do get used to summer noises which is a good thing really, as they'll spend the rest of their lives having to do that.

msgrinch · 01/07/2015 21:31

yabu, it's been too hot until now to do it.

GinUpGirl · 01/07/2015 21:32

Scarlett I don't even get in until 7:30 most nights. Gotta make use of a dry evening when mowing the grass.

Twodogsandahooch · 01/07/2015 21:32

My 2 year old is still awake. I'm more pissed off about that

IUseAnyName · 01/07/2015 21:32

Yes a bonfire is worse! So yes it could be worse for me, he could be burning stuff, or I could be living in a country fraught with war.... Thank you for putting my aibu in to perspective, and remind me to mention your comment squeeglyon every aibu i read!

IUseAnyName · 01/07/2015 21:34

Okay, so aibu. Still pissed off though :/.... I walked up a mountain in work today, that's much hotter than mowing the lawn.

OP posts:
Pipbin · 01/07/2015 21:34

In my opinion it could wait for a day or so.

But I don't think it is unreasonable for a pensioner to not want to mow the lawn during the day time of the hottest day of the year so far.
