I've just read that they ARE divorcing. I was hoping it was all vicious rumour. They seemed like a genuine, real couple. Can nobody ever stay married in Hollywood?

The teen DCs and I spent a very happy hour last week googling 'stars in the closet' (in our defence, it was a quiet day in the Chen household...) and it's amazing who's on there - some 'no ways', some 'mmm, maybe' and some 'they're still in the closets??'

I predicted this divorce years ago - they go married too quickly, which never bodes well in Hollywood . Very sad.

Is it because it would stop them being cast as romantic leads so often? Surely a gay man could play a straight man though...

DH and I tried, but couldn't think of anyone either. In fact, Anne Heche had quite a good career doing romcoms etc and then came out, career skidded to a halt. Um, Portia de Rossi played a heterosexual woman in Arrested Development - but to the ridiculous bloke that was in the Blue Man act, so not a serious relationship (more comedy foil) or lead role.

So is GC gay then?? I'd read that he was going into politics, and needed to be seen to be married.

And what about Amal, I know "what's in it for her?" is perhaps a stupid question but will she have a child? Not saying she has to. She has a great career, but most people (men, women, ambitious or otherwise) want one before it's too late. Amal seems to have it all and I wonder why she would want such a strange arrangement.

We can all sit and cackle about what sad old bastards the likes of Travolta and Cruise (allegedly) are for their "sham" marriages.

But there doesn't seem to be much precedent for high earning, A list "out" gay males or female actors in Hollywood.

They have a choice: beard up and continue to earn megabucks and enjoy the kind of professional success and lifestyle 99.9% of this planet can only dream of. Some might argue they do so at the expense of personal integrity and happiness in their private lives.
