I've just read that they ARE divorcing. I was hoping it was all vicious rumour. They seemed like a genuine, real couple. Can nobody ever stay married in Hollywood? Hmm
It's coming to something when Warren Beatty, Warren Beatty , is an example of marital solidarity.

Didn't will smith cheat with Margot Robbie?

and yes, Jeremy Renner is indeed gay.

Does this mean we have a winner in the leading man/playing it hetero stakes? Jeremy Renner was shown with loving wife and sprogs in the most recent Avengers film. Not quite a lead role, but a significant one.

KayAdams · 02/07/2015 12:55

Keanu Reeves.

Discuss.

JuneFromBethesda · 02/07/2015 12:56

Jeremy Renner had me completely fooled - I had an enormous crush on him after Bourne Legacy.

I've moved onto Chris Pratt now Grin

I agree with you nigelslatersfan although really? Nigel Slater?? Apparently most women especially are bisexual to some extent anyway. I would imagine that if you had a brain that made it into the creative arts, you may be more likely to explore the whole of your sexuality. That is more likely than the 98% of actors are closet homosexuals theory of gossip threads!

nigelslaterfan · 02/07/2015 13:13

Oh I like Nigel - but not carnally!

The artistic world has always contained looser sexual rules.

If convention didn't bind you, and you were looking to find out who you were, wouldn't you be open to experiment?

I knew two women in a wonderful loving relationship, one was a lesbian and the other straight but while the straight one was in a relationship with the other, than it was sexual. She never identified as gay, she just loved this other woman entirely. After their sexual relationship ended she carried on being straight. They are still very close emotionally. Who's to judge that. I think you fall in love with a person first and the gender is always relevant.

I have to say I'm straight but I like the authenticity of love being more important than anything else.

whataboutbob · 02/07/2015 13:53

Like what you say Nigelslater. I also think that a lot of us, if we had the guts/ resources/ chutzpah/ protection against ensuing social fallout, would be more adventurous sexually. Yes, you probably can get away with more in the arts. Maybe there are big fabulous Hollywood parties, with Travolta, Cruise, Renner etc all on the guest list, along with hetero actors, all having an unguardedly wonderful time, strictly no journos or civilians. Then everyone pretends for the public, out of fear their products (films, books etc) wouldn't sell if we knew the truth.

marshmallowpies · 02/07/2015 14:08

Bob - the parties thrown by Freddie Mercury which Roger Taylor has discussed in detail sound exactly like that. Freddie was in charge of the gay goings on and Roger dealt with the hetero stuff, and well, there was plenty of white powder flying around, I expect.

but they are so ridiculous that it is more likely they are fan fiction that some people believe than to actually be the truth.

Like this thread.

fancyanotherfez · 02/07/2015 14:26

nigelslaterfan I'd have to sleep with Nigel Slater just to shut him up from his boringly earnest ramblings!

marshmallow- some people have all the fun! Maybe the Romans were onto something. From what a classicist relative of mine said, it didn't matter which way you swung.Apparently Julius Cesar was bi. A wife for kids, and do what you like outside of marriage. Although I'm sure the freedom only applied to men, and rich ones at that.

Y0la · 02/07/2015 14:42

what did benedict cumberbatch and sophie call their baby?

TendonQueen · 02/07/2015 14:44

Jeremy Renner's not out, though. So can't be counted. There really is very little tolerance for gay leads, it would seem.

mynewpassion · 02/07/2015 14:49

Yeah, supposedly more than half of Hollywood actors are gay. Pretty soon people will say that Chris Pratt is gay. Rite of passage I say.

I don't believe that Renner, Clooney, Affleck, Damon, or Pitt are gay.

Travolta yes. Too much smoke there so probably true.

FraggleHair · 02/07/2015 14:51

I think Rupert Everett said his acting career when splat as soon as he came out.

FraggleHair · 02/07/2015 14:52

His Hollywood acting career to be more precise.

Pumpkinpositive · 02/07/2015 14:52

I don't believe that Renner, Clooney, Affleck, Damon, or Pitt are gay.

There's been a lot of smoke around Renner for some time.

The others, I agree, not gay.

Pumpkinpositive · 02/07/2015 14:54

I think Rupert Everett said his acting career when splat as soon as he came out.

Alan Cumming is not doing too shabbily. Although he's bi (isn't he?)* and not what I had in mind as A list.

*Just googled. Currently married to a man. Used to be married to woman.

FraggleHair · 02/07/2015 14:59

Yes but a lot of Alan Cumming's celebrity in America comes from his stage career on Broadway which is a much more gay friendly environment than a Hollywood casting call.

DustBunnyFarmer · 02/07/2015 15:05

Actually, Cummings role in The Good Wife has him as (at least an erstwhile) heterosexual, as he has an ex-wife and brilliantly sharp, waspish adult daughter in the show. Whether he's currently playing the role straight is debatable. He is so slyly venal it comes across a bit camp, a la Dynasty era Joan Collins.

Y0la · 02/07/2015 15:42

the sexual relationship between eli and that lawyer is so well acted on TGW. It's like a sparring match. Onemanupmanship or whatever you call it. he feels a kind of self-loathing after succumbing to animal intercourse. You can tell he feels a bit energised by the fact that she is that person who has an answer for everything and is his 'match' but the way he feels afterwards, it's kind of played like a gay man pretending to be straight and then not feeling good about himself.
Or is it just me that gets that vibe!?

The problem with this type of thread is - it usually disappears Grin
I thought it was common knowledge that GC lived with a man in Milan.
