To think where is the outrage to 15 British slaughtered in Tunisia

Inkanta · 28/06/2015 11:41

I think there was a time when the British would be outraged but are we numbing out to these atrocities now. We were outraged when ISIS started these beheadings and now we seem to be getting used to that as well.

We are outraged, disgusted and saddened.

How would you like us to express this?

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 28/06/2015 11:45

Im outraged, shocked and upset.
I dont see the need to start a thread saying this though

NobodyLivesHere · 28/06/2015 11:45

Everyone I know is disgusted saddened and appalled by these acts.

EducationalWelfareMakeMeCry · 28/06/2015 11:46

There are grieving families who need to deal with practicalities this is a time for sadness, anger comes later.

Silvercatowner · 28/06/2015 11:46

Who are 'the British'? I'm not sure one can generalise a collective response to such events.

Inkanta · 28/06/2015 11:47

Are we? Public opinion seems relatively quiet about it and there's not much fuss made about it in the media.

OP posts:
Becca83 · 28/06/2015 11:49

Are you serious? It's all over the media. I think it's pretty clear people are outraged and saddened by what has happened. I really don't get what you mean.

Wideopenspace · 28/06/2015 11:49

There were at least 39 killed in total.

I'll save my outrage for everyone who died, I think.

That ok with you OP?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/06/2015 11:49

It is outrageous, but will only get worse. The poisonous tentacles of IS are spreading. I can't see anything, but that this is the start of many atrocities. Or rather not the start, but a stepped up campaign since the beheadings.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 28/06/2015 11:50

I dont know where you have been OP but most people I have spoke to are shocked and disgusted.

haveabreakhaveakitkat · 28/06/2015 11:52

I don't think we're numbed to these things at all. I'm deeply shocked as is every person I've spoken too about it.

Inkanta · 28/06/2015 11:52

The reporting of the slaughter is all over the media - but I'm not getting a reaction of outrage.

OP posts:
NerrSnerr · 28/06/2015 11:52

What? It's the headline on every news bulletin I'v seen and lots of friends/ family are talking about it and their sadness and anger. What media have you been watching/ reading?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 28/06/2015 11:53

There's coverage all over the media and the comments' sections on Sky; the Daily Mail, etc, are full of outrage.

Personally I think it's a time for mourning and reflection. Calls to anger and outrage make me nervous. Too often they're used as justification for knee-jerk responses.

haveabreakhaveakitkat · 28/06/2015 11:54

It's all over the media!

Wideopenspace · 28/06/2015 11:54

OP - I really, really want to know why the bloody hell you want the outrage reserved for the British?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/06/2015 11:55

I think people are dealing with shock at the moment tbh, and practicalities. Some people don't even know whether their loved ones are dead or alive, still.

fearandloathinginambridge · 28/06/2015 11:57

What do you want to see? What do you think should be happening to demonstrate outrage?

Jasonandyawegunorts · 28/06/2015 11:57

Inkanta Do you perhaps want an american style interview show where we get people interviewed on the street being told to be emotional for the camera and praise the freedom of the country?

Becuase that's not going to happen.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 28/06/2015 11:57

What form would you like the outrage to take OP?

hiddenhome · 28/06/2015 11:58

I'm more depressed and resigned to our fate to be honest OP. These attacks will increase and will start occurring all over Europe as IS make their way here Sad nobody will be able to stand up to them and many will suffer as a result.

There are already supporters living in the UK who would gladly wreak damage and terrorism on its citizens. We're taught to accept it though. Like a herd of sheep waiting for the slaughterhouse lorry Hmm

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/06/2015 11:58

I can understand the OP stating the British, because its 'people like us', makes it much more personal when it could easily be you, your son or daughter. Less remote and unbelievable. That's not to say you can't feel sympathy and sadness for everyone who has suffered.

Inkanta · 28/06/2015 11:59

Wideopenspace - I'm making an observation of British public opinion, my own included, and the British media. I think I'm numbing out - as much as anyone. And that worries me.

OP posts:
Wideopenspace · 28/06/2015 12:00

"People like us"? [shock}

Like all the people who died?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/06/2015 12:00

I agree hiddenhome. Very depressing.
