To think defending your cat when it's crapping on my lawn is pathetic!!

LegoComplex · 27/06/2015 19:35

Not me but DP right now was washing up and saw the same massive fat cat start to take a dump in our front garden, bearing in mind this one cat always leaves massive dog size droppings where the kids play and a constant aroma of the stuff!

So he banged on the window but it didn't move so he opened the window and hissed at it, cue my neighbour comuing up and shouting at him that he threw something at it and she'd throw something back, he said what did i throw? she said she didn't know but kept having a go.

Are we supposed to watch the thing do that on our lawn?! we have our own cat and if i saw it doing that on someones front garden i'd shoo her away myself!

Cayenne pepper can put cats off using your garden as a loo. Cheap from eBay. Also super soaker not water pistol, but agreeed it is bloody annoying when they do when you are at work.

Filthy creatures. Also destroy wildlife. I hate them, and the selfish people who have them.

AmIthatsummery · 28/06/2015 20:04

I've just scattered some lime, but will try the pepper as well.

I only caught it last week because I was later for work. It obviously gets put out of the house when it's owner goes to work.

But the way, I chased it with the spray bottle which gets kept by the front door and it did scarper, but I still had to clean up the stinking mess.

ThisIsClemFandango · 28/06/2015 20:05

Do you think that some assaults are justified? Really?

But you do! You think animal abuse is fine and justified in this case Hmm

AmIthatsummery · 28/06/2015 20:07

Wow code, say what you really think why don't you

You do know that personal attacks are not really the done thing on MN ?

kali110 · 28/06/2015 20:08

But you've just said your defence would be your were driven to it!
My foot would be driven up a persons arse if they touched any of my animals. How is that different??

kali110 · 28/06/2015 20:09

Code hasn't made a personal attack, she hasn't directed it at anyone in particular.

SilverBirchWithout · 28/06/2015 20:09

I agree with code MN have not dealt with this very well. It is never acceptable to advocate phyisical abuse against a living creature.

Unfortunately in RL cats are not infrequently shot at with air guns, cross bows and indeed kicked, there have also been some particularly grotesque instances of torture and maiming.

By allowing some of the more extreme posts to remain, MN is being seen to turning a blind eye to a view that cats outside are fair game.

Yes I loathe other people's animals poo in my garden too.

Cheap white pepper sprinkled daily for a couple of months solved our cat problem. Thay and frequently chasing the offending cat with a glass of water to chuck a it.

If washing up and witnessing cat shitting I'd scoop a pan full of water and try to soak it with a fling. For the avoidance of doubt I only mean the water, not the pan itself

AmIthatsummery · 28/06/2015 20:15

So Kali, it's not okay for some to boot your cat out their garden, but it IS okay for you to do the same to them

Okay then

AmIthatsummery · 28/06/2015 20:16

Silver, what extreme posts?

I think a pp mentioned a crossbow, but I hardly think she meant it.

kali110 · 28/06/2015 20:18

Iv already said i woud be wrong to use violence, but i really hate animal abuse.

Gabilan · 28/06/2015 20:19

"Also destroy wildlife. I hate them, and the selfish people who have them."

Hmm We are probably approaching a major extinction level event but it's not domestic cats that are at the root of this. When it comes to animals that cause carnage, humans are far more problematic. The RSPB estimates of the number of animals and birds killed by cats was based on seriously flawed data - not just flawed but flawed in a very amateurish way. (It assumed for example that a cat that lives indoors all the time will kill as many animals as one that lives outdoors and hunts a lot. That would be one mouse-infested house)

Cats in areas where native species are not used to ground-dwelling predators are highly problematic. Cats where cats have existed for millions of years, not so much

AmIthatsummery · 28/06/2015 20:20

I'm still waiting for some of the cat lovers to volunteer to sit in my garden while I'm at work and spray away.

Any takers?

Gabilan · 28/06/2015 20:24

"Perhaps the term cretin resonates with you just a little??"

Cretinism is now more generally referred to as hypothyroidism. It's an unfortunate condition that can now be treated with thyroid extract but it used to be untreatable and associated with "slow" mental processes. It's an endocrinological disorder and not, IMO, something to be mocked.

SirChenjin · 28/06/2015 20:25

I'm still waiting for the cat lovers to explain where these cats are who sit still and wait for people to get within soaking distance of their little darlings. Most cats I know leg it when anyone approaches them, leaving their stinking shit for someone else to clean up

SirChenjin · 28/06/2015 20:27

Cretin as well as loonie and pyscho? Good grief - you need to spend a day with a mental health service to raise your awareness of appropriateness of language.

kali110 · 28/06/2015 20:29

Sir one of mine is the friendliest cat and will go to anyone. Im wishing that wasn't the case now.

SirChenjin · 28/06/2015 20:32

Let's get this straight - you're laughing at the idea that someone may be a patient of a mental health service?

AmIthatsummery · 28/06/2015 20:32

Are we LOLing nowHmm

I do have an under active thyroid. So yes, maybe cretin does resonate.
