to think that a shop shouldn't be selling padded bra and knicker sets in the children's department?

Out shopping today and DD spotted these while I was looking at the socks. Naturally she wanted one so she could "have boobies just like mummy".

Obviously some older girls will need a bra before others but these were padded bras in an AA and AAA cup size so designed for very small frames. They were also on the same rack as vests, socks, and knickers for much younger girls. DD is 3yo and they were on the same rack as her size underwear.

AIBU to think these are shit and no young girl should be padding out her chest? I was also Hmm at the matching bra and knickers set but realise that's probably just me as I don't see matching bras and knickers as a child thing.

Would I BU to complain?

Are you sure they weren't moulded rather than padded?

They are moulded, to hide nipples which young girls can be very conscious of, nothing wrong with matching either, I used to buy dd matching vest and pants sometimes when she was little.

I had a squash when I took them off DD and they were definitely padded.

Isn't the advantage of moulded bras that they conceal your nipple? They're not targeted at toddlers.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, what size are they? I was probably in a 30A or something at 15/16! And are they actually padded or are they a moulded cup t-shirt bra type? If the latter then I don't think that's too bad, I've always preferred them as I have large nipples and you can see them through thin bras. As for matching bra and knickers, my DD (2) has matching vests and knickers, isn't it just an extension of that?

I think their main mistake is in having them in the children's section. Most stores have a teen range, they should be in with that.

They don't looked overly padded (more like moulded tbh).

I haven't got a problem with it. Even as a 'busty' woman I wear moulded bras as I find them comfier and a better fit.

yes the 'padding' stops nipples poking through - dd1 is 12 almost 13 and in big school - wearing white shirts - she lives in these bras - she's a 32aa - it saves her blushes

Every time this thread subject comes up, people point out that it helps to protect the nipples.

If you're 3yr old 'wants boobies just like Mummy', just tell her she'll get them one day.

At least they're a 'sensible' cut and style, provide good coverage etc. I remember when I first got a bra, it was impossible to find something in a 28AA (my starting size at around age 11) that wasn't lacy. I hate lace.

I can't see what size they are from your photo,but presumably of there is a cup on the bras then they are for girls who have started developing breasts - this could be children from 9/10/11. I don't see anything wrong with having matching underwear - those are not adult looking knickers - they look like children's garments to me, so I would assume they are for children who are just starting to develop.

They don't look very padded to me either - just made of that soft comfy stuff. (Apologies if I'm wrong about this, I can;t tell from the photo)If they are very padded then I agree that is unnecessary. But these look like normal childs underwear to me.

I am guessing they are in the children's dept. so that they are free from VAT.

What shop? My dd is 16 and 28 C she would love a more grown up bra that doesn't come from a specialist shop and cost the earth.

Not the point of the thread I know, but where was this?? My dd is a 30AA (age 12) and I have been searching for nice t shirt bras like these for her! The ones she has, have butterflies / flowers on and are quite visible through sheer summer tops.

I'd be ever so grateful if you could point me to these!

When your dd is older, you will be on the look out for things like this. I'm glad they're in the children's section - my dd is not grown up enough for women's lingerie.

I haven't complained, I was asking if I would be unreasonable to complain. Also was not 'hoping' for anything and happy to concede I'm BU :)

Very glad I've got a good few years before I need to deal with DD and bra shopping :o
