To not understand the obsession, amongst grown adults, with fucking Minions?

My FB news feed.constantly gets clogged up with 'likes' and 'shares' of cheesy quotes from the 'Minions Quotes' page (what have they even got to do with Minions apart from the fact there is one standing next to the words?), videos of 'A Minion kiss, just for you' etc, and pictures of Minions knitted hats, Minions cakes, Minions high heeled stilettos, Minions glittery shit wine glasses, the list goes on.

I have 'half' watched Despicable Me, it was alright. Am I missing something here or am I really just friends with a bunch of infantilised twats?

I still don't exactly know what they are as I don't watch kids films. Not in a superior kind of way but I don't have kids in my life :-( I had to ask recently what minions were and a friend sent me a clip of them.

alltoomuchrightnow · 05/07/2015 21:08

and I didn't find it that funny but then again I probably need to watch whole film. I just really, really don't like cartoons. I could never sit through a whole one. I do , honestly, have a good sense of humour! but cartoons don't do it for me in any form

ASorcererIsAWizardSquared · 05/07/2015 21:08

I am grown up, that however doesn't mean i have lost all sense of humour or my love of fun and silliness.

Some people seem to think being an adult requires the removal of any kind of childish sense of humour, and you know what?

I think thats fucking boring, i think anyone who goes around actively HATING people for liking silly things, comic, games, disney, cartoons or whatever are miserable bastards, what horrible, boring, joyless lives you must lead stuck up their looking down your noses at everyone else.

My life is shit, its fucking horrendous, so if i want to sit there shouting BANANAAAAAAAA and ITS SO FLUFFY amongst other things with my friends to make us both giggle, then i will.. and you can go be miserable fuckers in your corner.

My motto is 'Dont worry, be happy' i actually have it tattooed on my arm.. its also a song that happened to be my dads favourite, and also a song with Robin Williams in it being gloriously silly... both are now gone, but both taught me the importance of fun and being happy!

We have all the time in the world to be dead, enjoy life while you have it, because a day without laughter, is a day wasted!

I have never heard of them.
Seen pictures on fb but didn't know their names.
I am a joyless Disney loathing fucker who read the first HP book to DS 8 years ago and nearly lost the will to live Grin

King bob has been the go to phrase in this house all week.youngest member is 17.

Kind of like the minion wedding I have to say, though if dh and did it again we'd have star wars as our theme.

I hadn't realised there was a cut off age where you suddenly have to sit and read chaucer instead of harry potter. Please forgive me if I ignore that memo Wink
