To not understand the obsession, amongst grown adults, with fucking Minions?

My FB news feed.constantly gets clogged up with 'likes' and 'shares' of cheesy quotes from the 'Minions Quotes' page (what have they even got to do with Minions apart from the fact there is one standing next to the words?), videos of 'A Minion kiss, just for you' etc, and pictures of Minions knitted hats, Minions cakes, Minions high heeled stilettos, Minions glittery shit wine glasses, the list goes on.

I have 'half' watched Despicable Me, it was alright. Am I missing something here or am I really just friends with a bunch of infantilised twats?

OP posts:
Pepperonipeteczar · 27/06/2015 20:09

I can't stand them, hate the memes and I even saw someone post a photo of her collection of minion teddies and one of them was dressed as a french fucking maid? It's garish and crap

ApocalypseThen · 27/06/2015 20:09

I judge anyone of adult age who is 'into' anything their kids are.

I don't get it either. What's wrong with enjoying children's things when you're a child and then developing your interests to adult things when you're an actual adult? To be arrested at a mental age of eight when you're a fully grown adult shouldn't a something to boast about.

dementedma · 27/06/2015 20:09

Despicable Me is the best film ever. Love the Minions

Libitina · 27/06/2015 20:11

I need want a Minion. Envy

ZaZathecat · 27/06/2015 20:16

And don't get me started on bloomin unicorns either!!

MegMurry · 27/06/2015 20:38

I found Despicable Me the most agonising kids' film an adult ever has had to sit through.

Until I saw Despicable Me 2...

Yay4may · 27/06/2015 22:32

Minions have names?

PacificDogwood · 27/06/2015 22:35

Just back from our giant 24 hr TESCO and it's frigging Minion Weekend there - I just said upthread that I likes the Minions (we have 4 of the wee buggers from McD Happy Meals and their random giggling cheers me up no end Grin), but the Tesco experience was surreal and disturbing.

Still want to go and see the movie - thank goodness for 2 small DSs who will provide my excuse to go Wink

TheKittenIsTheEvilOverlord · 27/06/2015 22:36

Dave!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/06/2015 22:40

I love the minions - dh and I went to see the new film today. But I manage to love them without filling my house, wardrobe or FB with them.

I am childish sometimes, but I don't think that's a bad thing either.

Flambola · 28/06/2015 01:00

I feel a bit left out! I've not heard or seen anything about them really apart from my boss telling me he was taking his 6 year old to see it.

Stratter5 · 28/06/2015 01:05

Does anyone want to swap a Happy Meal Vampire Minion for a Hula Minion? Gutted I missed that one, it's my favourite.

The Minion Movie is hilarious btw, and yes, it was mostly adults at tonight's 6.15pm showing.

Stratter5 · 28/06/2015 01:11

*Jurassic Minion apparently.

TheSnowFairy · 28/06/2015 22:43

Kevin, Bob and Stuart and lots of other boys' names (and Norbert).

Summerisle1 · 28/06/2015 23:29

I knew nothing of Minions until the epidemic of those utterly shyte memes infected my Facebook feed. I hate them more than is rational.

gwenneh · 29/06/2015 09:50

Joining this club. Loved the films, but FFS stop posting passive-aggressive friendship quotes on FB with minions standing next to them! MINIONS CAN'T TALK.

FannyPlant · 29/06/2015 13:04

YANBU x 1000

Northumberlandlass · 29/06/2015 13:09

YANBU.
I hate the bastards.

simplethings · 29/06/2015 13:38

I was saying to someone just the other day how much i am sick of the sight of the minions and they didn't agree, so i'm glad to have found you bunch!

JinglyJanglyJungleBigGameTours · 29/06/2015 13:49

I quite enjoyed Despicable Me 1&2 but I've just seen the minion movie with DS and it was OK but not as good. I think all the funny bits were in the clips.

Saying that, I'm not on fb so I'm missing the annoying quoting pp are talking about. That would get irrititating quickly.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/06/2015 13:50

Is it just me, or is Scarlett Overkill's husband a dead ringer for Sir Bradley Wiggins?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/06/2015 13:52

Banana

JinglyJanglyJungleBigGameTours · 29/06/2015 13:53

Ha, now you mention it SDTG, yes!

DoraGora · 29/06/2015 14:19

I thought fucking minions was a reference to shagging the hired help. I couldn't see how it could be, because, I haven't heard of it generally being an adult obsession. But, I clicked on the OP, just in case.

Never mind.

windchime · 29/06/2015 16:09

Some people really need to grow up and that includes you, Harry Potter reader
