To be distinctly peeved that my thread was treated as spam.

It was a link to a really important National Autistic Society survey.

I posted it in AIBU for traffic. Lots of people signed.

But then it was banished to some godforsaken corner of MN. Because someone reported it as spam Angry Sad

And I think I'm being the opposite of 'sneaky' Tiggy.

I'm being flagrantly upfront and blatant and cross

Yanbu, there's so many threads about pointless stuff all the time on here I'm surprised that your thread was deleted.

VanitasVanitatum · 25/06/2015 21:46

100% support autism awareness but you did put a survey in AIBU simply for traffic. If everyone did that then AIBU topics would be buried. MNHQ can't give autism special treatment above other awareness campaigns, it wouldn't be fair on the others.

TiggyD · 25/06/2015 21:47

There are a lot of good causes that members really feel strongly about. That doesn't mean you can ignore the rules.

"we'll delete anyone's attempts to spam the boards with links, as a way of promoting their own product, services, survey or e-petition,"

That should have been a hint that they would delete it. And they'll probably delete this one too, and maybe even ban the OP for a bit for posting it again on this thread.

FadedRed · 25/06/2015 21:48

Think you might not have been so 'harshly' treated by MNHQ if you'd posted in _Chat rather than AIBU, and as a long time user of the site you should know that.
I also think you are being a tad cynical reposting the link in AIBU, and if I were in MNHQ I'd be tempted to remove this post too.
I agree the subject is important, but that's not the real point here, is it?
I'm with Tiggy and Anyone on this.

MaggieJoyBlunt · 25/06/2015 21:48

There is SO MUCH nonsense in AIBU though

I'm STILL banjaxed that anyone reported in the first place and as spam Sad

I can hear you rubbing your hands together and smacking your lips Tiggy Hmm

You're not the first to say that, so I have to accept that there may be something in it but I've never drawn such a strong mental distinction between them myself. Oh well.

msgrinch · 25/06/2015 21:52

woah I know this is an emotive subject for you op but your last comment to tiggy was out of order. They were just posting the general rules and happenings of the thread. I doubt there's any hand rubbing going on at all.

MaggieJoyBlunt · 25/06/2015 21:52

Acting like a wazzock for a good cause is still acting like a wazzock.

BlackeyedSusan · 25/06/2015 21:52

oh the irony. Hmm

you are so not unreasonable

CrabbyTheCrabster · 25/06/2015 21:52

So this thread is just a sneaky way to get your survey back on a high traffic area. Very poor form. I suggest you ask for this to be deleted.

But this is a perfectly valid AIBU question, Tiggy. You can think YABU or YANBU, but it's a whole lot more valid than many of the threads in this forum section.

'Poor form' my arse. The original thread was off topic (as are so many irrelevant and misplaced-attention-seeking AIBU threads), but trying to raise awareness of difficulties faced by autistic children (and adults)... well I can think of worse things.

GeorgeYeatsAutomaticWriter · 25/06/2015 21:53

Gratuitously nasty Tiggy

MaggieJoyBlunt · 25/06/2015 21:54

I didn't realise Tiggy was covert-MNHQ Hmm

OP posts:
TiggyD · 25/06/2015 21:55

Why not start a thread about the National Autistic Society and the work they do, in an interesting, informative and entertaining way, then mention how people could help?

MaggieJoyBlunt · 25/06/2015 21:56

Because this isn't the WI?

OP posts:
CrabbyTheCrabster · 25/06/2015 21:57

It was me who criticised Maggie for posting the original thread in AIBU instead of Chat and the SEN boards. I then pointed out that an 'AIBU to be pissed off that MNHQ moved my thread for being spam' thread would be a perfectly valid thread to post in AIBU and would draw the attention she wanted to the cause of raising autism awareness.

So don't flame her, flame me. Because I'm feeling right fucking bolshy tonight and couldn't give a flying fuck whether you think I'm unreasonable or not.

So there. Grin

TiggyD · 25/06/2015 21:57

As Gratuitously nasty as "I can hear you rubbing your hands together and smacking your lips Tiggy" George?

Of course I'm pissed off.

You posted a not remotely aibu in aibu, so it got moved. End of story. What it was about is not really relevant. We've all got things that are particularly important to us, lots of us have children with additional needs, but its a big site and the rules are there and apply to everyone.

MaggieJoyBlunt · 25/06/2015 22:00

Well don't sit on a thread smugly predicting people's imminent banning like a self-satisfied school prefect then Tiggy and people won't remark in irritation on your air of smuggery.

OP posts:
msgrinch · 25/06/2015 22:01

insulting other posters because they don't agree with you, how pleasant.

MaggieJoyBlunt · 25/06/2015 22:03

(It isn't up to Tiggy who gets banned grinch. Agreeing didn't come into it)

OP posts:
msgrinch · 25/06/2015 22:05

No one said it was.
