Music and speed is a thrilling combination.

I did the Rip Ride Rockit coaster at Universal. You choose your own music to play in speakers right by your ears. I chose Hammer 'Can't Touch This'. It was two minutes of pure joy.

It's awesome! Have been doing that a lot lately - especially with 90's dance music. I, frankly, as a woman nearer to 50 than 40 do not give a shit if I look like a dick and care even less if I disturb someone's perfect little peaceful world for the couple of seconds it takes me to pass them. There is a lot to be annoyed about in this world, even more to make us all miserable, let's just take the simple pleasures where and when we can get them.

I'm into musicals - 'That's Entertainment' a la Ethel Merman will do me... Grin

Also the wrong side of 40 here!

I wonder if we are channeling our inner teenage boys?!

That sounded all kinds of wrong but I hope ykwim! :o

I enjoy my singing along with company best. Mostly just dd and me but dh will sometimes join in too. ds takes a bit more coaxing!

Family favourite shout along: Victoria (Kinks)

Music coming from cars doesn't bother me too much unless it's loud enough to rattle the picture frames on my walls Grin

It's not 0.3 seconds, or whatever, though. It's 0.3 seconds for every fifth or sixth car that goes past my house/garden. I live by a road junction, so on a sunny day there's usually at least one car waiting at the lights whose music I can hear and judge them for.

Doesn't stop me enjoying listening to music with the windows down, just not loudly when I'm in built-up or high-traffic areas. I have a soft spot for extreme 80s cheese Blush

I do this whenever I'm in the car by myself (which sadly isn't often Sad)

I got stopped at an RBT once and the policeman commented on my "crap taste in music!" This then started a debate on whether I was a bit deaf because I have my music so loud, or if I have to have my music so loud because I'm a bit deaf. Felt like the chicken and the egg argument.

I always play dodgy 80s music or ABBA when I'm picking the kids up from school - oddly enough they tend to prefer it when I park in the furthest car park from the school site.

Its ok if you are just whizzing by but switch it off when you stop, unlike the tool who woke up my whole family, including tiny baby with his crappy gaba techno at 3am.
Other than that, I quite like it. Someone passed us playing The Lemonheads' version of Mrs Robinson last week - the memories :)

I'm with the fine so long as you turn it down in built up areas and traffic jams brigade. It might only be 0.3s to you, but when car after car after car is doing it on summer evenings it is annoying.

Oh yes! One the happiest things. I try to reduce the volume when I'm in slow traffic / parking though.

We are doing a road trip around California next month. Currently compiling my play list, and pinching some of your suggestions. We might scare some bears Smile

I especially love Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries for window-open days. Makes me feel like I'm swooping in to save the day Grin

Always turned down to an 'asseptable' level for urban driving though, because my car has this clever doohickey that automatically turns the music up/down, according to speed.

I did this with "You're Gorgeous" by Babybird yesterday. Hadn't heard that song for ages and bloody love it! Also love that song "Crush" for the car.

DH, Dt and I are all fans of singing in the car at the moment - favourite curent song is either man or muppet or Song 2 by blur

I'm mid 30's and its the one thing that reminds me of being 18 and getting my first car.

I don't actually care that I look like a dick, I feel like a teenager again

I maybe getting a suped up posers car soon and I can't wait, driving is a joy to me not a chore

and for the classical fans, a bit of 'Mars' Holst or Nutcraker may also get bellowed out at an incredible volume

Yes! Not Blurred Lines though, no Angry

It has to be a singalonga number and I will nominate -

First Aid Kit - Stay Gold
James - Sit Down
Randolph's Leap - Real Anymore
Triffids - Holy Water
Nina Simone - Feeling Good
Stornoway - Bigger Picture

For the perfect experience you also need a Solero.

Yes!! I have to drive across the county on a daily basis for work. It's the best hour and a half of my life. Then driving 40 minutes home either way.

CatOfTheGreenGlades · 25/06/2015 08:57

I don't mind looking like a dick. I am sometimes seen bopping along at traffic lights by the person in the next car, I just give them a big cheesy grin.

Wow, such lack of consideration for others. Be kind. Don't blast music anywhere. Turn it right off if anyone can hear it outside the car. People saying Tough Titties need an asbo slapped on them for disturbing the peace of others. Not all of us love your loud awful music polluting our ears.

UsedtobeFeckless · 25/06/2015 09:01

Definitely! Grin On my own, no DSs to whinge about the music ( Blythpower ) and my awful singing, zipping through the cornfields with the windows down ... Bliss!

Yes, yes. Except I don't have the window down. I do however, have the music turned right up. I have specific music for specific journeys.

Going to see DP, 1 1/2 hours, North Wales Coastal Drive.... It has to be Prince or Amon Amarth.

Going to Home Town...40 mins of Foy Vance.

Out and about and it's Kate Bush or Peter Gabriel.

Anywhere with DCs and it's Amon Amarth, Black Label Society or Slayer.
