To be outraged when ladies don't wash their hands after the toilet?

Onedayinthesun · 22/06/2015 15:06

It happens all the time, at work, at the gym, in restaurants, shopping centres......

Why do so many ladies use the loo then just flounce out of the toilet and give the sink a complete swerve?

Off they go back out into the world spreading their toilet germs from their hands onto unsuspecting people, it makes me so mad ð??¡

I just don't get it, what is it about soap and water that some of the population want to avoid after doing their business?? AIBU to get so angry about this?

Hi sorry for this random comment, but I'm new to this site. How do I A. Delete a thread from my 'I'm on' thing and how do I start a new thread? Sorry for gate-crashing this thread but I don't know how to use this bloody site. I've been at it all evening

Well said Cactus.
I can't believe how absolutely disgusting people can be; the fact that your hands are not absolutely dripping with we does not mean that you don't have germs on your hands!
Jesus.

Pastaeater · 22/06/2015 19:25

*wee

HoneyDragon · 22/06/2015 19:25

Well if you want to that CatusAnnie you may want to visit the ensuites thread first. You'll find it helpful.

The5DayChicken · 22/06/2015 19:27

Again though Cactus...

"Soap and water removes a large amount of bacteria and alcohol does this even better, but its the difference between 99 and 99.9 percent [bacteria killed]."

And this article makes a very good point really...these gels are used in hospitals.

It does also make the point that unless you use the gel properly (rubbing it in vigorously), it's not very effective, but then neither is hand washing if it's done thoughtlessly.

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 22/06/2015 19:28

haha Cactus. Yeah, not caring about fecal matter on my hands is so liberating.

UglyBugaz · 22/06/2015 19:29

Some people might use the anti bacterial gel instead. I carry that gel everywhere and use it constantly. I do wash my hands though after the toilet and as soon as I get in my car use the gel. I am a bit ocd

Candycoco · 22/06/2015 19:31

Alcohol gels are not a substitute for hand washing fgs.

What pisses me off is people who are like, well I'm ok, I've never been sick yada yada, like that makes it ok for everyone else to have your pissy fingers touching everything. You are disgusting.

And that is exactly why I use a tissue to open the toilet cubicle etc.

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 22/06/2015 19:33

I feel a bit sick having read this thread. Some minging people out there

Get yours hands washed.

The5DayChicken · 22/06/2015 19:36

Candy, according to the professionals speaking on the articles Cactus linked, they're actually a very good substitute. Obviously a good enough substitute to be used up and down the country in hospitals.

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 22/06/2015 19:36

It does also make the point that unless you use the gel properly (rubbing it in vigorously), it's not very effective, but then neither is hand washing if it's done thoughtlessly.

Yeah but even ineffective hand washing is better than none at all.

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 22/06/2015 19:37

Might be worth bringing your own soap...

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 22/06/2015 19:39

5day, the articles I just read were talking about using hand sanitiser when you hadn't been exposed to protein based bacteria... which can be found in the wiping area.

AntiHop · 22/06/2015 19:40

I remember being taught at school that germs go through toilet paper so you do get germs on your hands from wiping your fango.

I saw a woman leave the toilet without washing her hands the other day and I had to bite my tongue.

Candycoco · 22/06/2015 19:40

5daychicken - hospital staff still wash their friggin hands!!! Omg they use hand gel additionally. Not in its own.
But then I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't even brush their teeth or wan their hands to understand this.

As pp said, we wouldn't accept catering staff not washing their hands would we? So why do people think it's ok not to do it.

Your children will be made to wash their hands before they eat at nursery because it's in the ofsted day care standards that hand washing is in place. For the reason of cleanliness and infection control. Jesus

UglyBugaz · 22/06/2015 19:42

They use the gels in hospitals where the most germs are, I think they are the same as hand washing.

Delphine31 · 22/06/2015 19:43

I'm immuno-compromised. Even before I became hyper-susceptible to bugs I thought that people who didn't wash their hands after using the loo were scuzzy little fuckers. Now I've amended my view a little to think they're selfish scuzzy little fuckers because they make it harder for those of us with dodgy immune systems to stay well just because they can't be bothered.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 22/06/2015 19:43

I think the majority of people who wash their hands don't wash them properly anyway. So to me it's pointless.

eggyface · 22/06/2015 19:50

yeah I'm agreeing with those saying how selfish it is to say 'I don't get I'll so I don't care'. We live in a herd ffs. It's protecting the weakest (youngest oldest illest) members of society to all adhere to standards. Also "I've not got TB so I'll spit all over everything" doesn't work because it creates a culture where antisocial behaviour is seen as OK and so those who are carrying germs pass things on.

just wash your hands, pay your taxes, don't litter, stand up for people on buses who need it more than you and just generally be an adult who thinks of others. It's not actually difficult.

Stealthpolarbear · 22/06/2015 19:52

5daychi ken my thinking would be that gel doesn't wash the dirt off it just rubs it in. If that's what happens to visible dirt surely it's the same principle for invisible dirt

The5DayChicken · 22/06/2015 19:55

And effective sanitizer gel usage is better than ineffective hand washing. It takes several minutes of thorough scrubbing to effectively wash hands...I rarely see anyone at the sink in a public loo for more than a minute or so. There are even posters on this thread who say it takes 30 seconds to wash hands. And countless MN posters admitted just a couple of days ago that they spend less time in the shower each day washing their whole bodies than it takes a surgeon to properly clean just their hands and forearms.

In the grand scheme of things, gels are a valuable product.

The5DayChicken · 22/06/2015 19:57

The gels in hospitals aren't just for staff Candy.

(I'm cooking the tea so apologies for annoyingly delayed responding!)

Candycoco · 22/06/2015 19:59

I know that. But people are saying they just walk straight out the loos and don't wash hands at all, or just use gel. If you have the option to wash then do it, then put your gel on.
