To be outraged when ladies don't wash their hands after the toilet?

It happens all the time, at work, at the gym, in restaurants, shopping centres......

Why do so many ladies use the loo then just flounce out of the toilet and give the sink a complete swerve?

Off they go back out into the world spreading their toilet germs from their hands onto unsuspecting people, it makes me so mad ð??¡

I just don't get it, what is it about soap and water that some of the population want to avoid after doing their business?? AIBU to get so angry about this?

what do people do when they get caught short and have to pee in the woods, or flowery dell? Do they have to find somewhere to go wash their hands? If so, hey presto, somewhere to have a pee too.

I generally do wash my hands, but if in a hurry or the loo was just so blumming minging I'd rather just get the hell out of there having just done the thing I went in to do as quickly as possible without touching anything.

As other's have said, I try not to pee on my hands anyway.

CainInThePunting · 22/06/2015 15:29

No, YANBU. It's disgusting.

MythicalKings · 22/06/2015 15:30

I don't, another one allergic to cheap soap. I use wipes or gel.

Onedayinthesun · 22/06/2015 15:30

And this is not just about cases of a quick wee and run out of the loo. I know and have witnessed women who leave the toilet after a big number 2.....

This is never ok???

I can't use most of the soap in those dispensers (particularly the pink stuff...making me itch just thinking about it). Have anti-bac in my bag/pocket at all times. Sometimes I use it before I leave the cubicle, so just check my hair (not wee hair because I also tend not to wee on my hands) and off I go.

GobblersKnob · 22/06/2015 15:31

Do you spend an unusual amount of time in public loos op? You seem to be a wee bit obsessed.

NRomanoff · 22/06/2015 15:33

Ok OP, do you wash you hands after touching each every door handle, typing a quick note on a keyboard etc? Because most people don't. You wash your hands then touch the door that has the germs you are talking about and then go out into the world. So, you are in - similar position as those that didn't wash their hands.

Onedayinthesun · 22/06/2015 15:34

Honestly not obsessed! But at work, gym, out and about at the weekends I have noticed more and more how not everyone washes their hands. I just thought it was a given?

It's just happened again today at the gym Confused

I just can't stand the thought of picking up things or holding things that have someone else's wee or poo germs on, totally avoidable..

Our toilet habits are disgusting in this country and we can't help it. I wouldn't normally have a poo in a public toilet but let's say I had. Wipe bottom with toilet roll, which means you have bacteria all over hour hands as it makes its way straight through. Deposit said bacteria all over clothes pulling up knickers, doing zip etc. Deposit more bacteria on flush and pick up some more, ditto door handle. Bacteria spread to handbag etc. on way out and can only be removed from hands ( if there is any left there after spreading it all about) once you get to the sink. Why oh why don't we have the sort of toilets they have in Asia. On m visit to Thailand and Cambodia last year the little spray things clean your bottom, presumably less bacteria left after a quick drying wipe and less bugs to spread here there and everywhere. Our toilet roll culture is quite disgusting.

GooseyLoosey · 22/06/2015 15:35

I had a lady in a public loo come after me and say it was disgusting that I had not washed my hands after going to the toilet.

I was mortified, I had not actually been going to the loo but putting on some deodorant before a job interview. I didn't actually know what to say so settled for staring at her and asking her if she actually knew what I had been doing. She then looked as embarrassed as I felt.

SunnyBaudelaire · 22/06/2015 15:40

yes but if you start thinking about these things too much constance, that way madness lies.
I used to know a person who was so obsessed with hand germs that it had disabled him and he was unable to live a normal life.
He had to put a clean sock over his hand before he touched a door handle and could not answer the phone due to the fear of ear germs.
Of course you should wash your hands but dont get obsessed.

MrsTedCrilly · 22/06/2015 15:41

I used to do this at work, the soap was so cheap it made my psoriasis really bad so I used anti bac gel afterwards. I bet people thought I was a right scruff! Grin Now don't have a problrm anywhere.
Also as a woman we don't tend to make contact with our bits/pee so some people might assume they don't need to wash, but like pp have said there could be germs on flushers/locks/handles etc.
I do wonder how effective washing is when we touch the door handle to leave afterwards!

ijustlovecake · 22/06/2015 15:42

I was at an indoor market once and saw one woman come out of the toilet with her APRON ON (I presume she worked in the market cafe) and walk straight out the door without washing her hands.

HemlockStarglimmer · 22/06/2015 15:43

In the ladies in a pub years ago, a young woman came out of a cubicle while I was washing my hands. As she bypassed the sinks she said to me "I can't wash my hands as the water makes my false nails fall off. And I'm a dental nurse". ConfusedConfused

I very glad she didn't work for my dentist!

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/06/2015 15:50

I think it's icky and unhygienic but I don't feel 'outraged'. Their hygiene standards are their business.

YABU to get angry about it. What's wrong with a wrinkle of the nose?

Jo4040 · 22/06/2015 15:51

My friend told me a few years back that she was at the Trafford centre and Victoria Beckham came out of a cubicle and didn't wash her hands. Iv never forgot her telling me that

Candycoco · 22/06/2015 15:52

If you are allergic to the soap in public loos, why don't you carry some soap that you can use with you? That's what I'd do.

I wash my hands and do not touch door handles, only use a tissue which is then binned, then I use hand gel.

People spreading their pooey germs is most gross Confused

SolitaryInTheVoid · 22/06/2015 15:53

I would contribute to a charity that hunted these people down and sprayed unwashable dye on them, like the stuff from bank robberies.

Nobody ever starts charities for the good stuff, though.

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/06/2015 15:55

Confused

Weird.

m0therofdragons · 22/06/2015 15:56

Severely allergic to do many soaps I carry alcohol gel I know i can use and use that. Today I was in a toilet that had original source soap so I did wash as I knew that would be fine. Get off your high horse.

TwerkingSpinster · 22/06/2015 15:59

Um.....can bacteria really pass instantaneously through bog roll? Hmm
How is it that labs need agar jelly, warmth and hours of waiting to grow bacteria, but a 'toilet' germ can magic its way through waded paper in an instant?

Candycoco · 22/06/2015 15:59

Mitzy what's wrong with not wanting people's shit on your hand? Or you ok with that?

Micah · 22/06/2015 16:00

Do any of you have oral sex? How do you reconcile that with the unhygienic crotch area?

If your partner goes down on you do they have to wash their face and mouth with soap and hot water before continuing?

Sorry to lower the tone but it's something I've always wondered when people get all get up over wee and toilets :)

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/06/2015 16:01

I think washing your hands, then opening door with tissue, and then rubbing hands with antibacterial gel may be a teensy bit over the top. But you crack on!

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/06/2015 16:02

All a bit Howard Hughes to me.
