To let go of the general assumption that stories and scenarios on a forum like MN should be true

Because mostly, I fear, they are not. I have to confess I simply do not understand the mindset that would sit and make up a whole story based on nothing but fantasy or what the author might deem a shocking or amusing scenario. I get that nobody will ever know why they do it - I suppose I'm just Shock at the sheer quantity of it at the moment. I'm pretty sure there's only one or two people behind most of it - law of averages says there just cannot be that many bullshitters on one section of a huge forum - or can there?
And if there is a general feeling that a particular poster or posters are just making up shit but not actually trolling - well - is this OK? I don't think it is but I'm prepared to rethink if I'm told it is. What does everyone else think?

I admit to screaming when I hit the report button.

This is why I deleted the app from my phone

And why I'm no longer allowed to travel on buses.

I shat a kidney for you OP

You ungrateful little vag wipe.

crustsaway · 13/06/2015 23:24

I dont feel the need to bullshit, nor do I feel the need to report. I just remove myself from the situation. Its a thread on an internet site. No big deal, no investment.

FarFromAnyRoad · 13/06/2015 23:24

I know Worra - I saw your local paper. I was embarrassed for you. Still, your probation must be nearly up now?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 13/06/2015 23:25

That's ok crusts you can leave the reporting to me. Wink

usualsuspect333 · 13/06/2015 23:26

Bye then crustsaway.

Remove yourself from this thread.

Good for you crustsaway
If you do that fine. You can let other people get on with what they do without criticising them then.

FarFromAnyRoad · 13/06/2015 23:34

Do you scream when reporting MaryZ? Because if not I'm not sure you're doing it right. Screaming is the way forward with a large dose of angry and bossy thrown in for good measure!Grin

Don't forget wearing a big fuck off badge saying I Am A Jobsworth Grin

It's amazing how much drama there is in some OP's lives, but then again, I have known a few people like that over the years. They have such a chip on their shoulder that they interpret EVERYTHING, from innocuous small talk at the school gate to genereic responses from shopclerks and council employees as a challenge/affront/threat. No busdriver ever bumped over a pothole without doing so specifically to cause them to drop their phone or lurch into a OAPs lap. Every slightly cold cup of tea was maliciously allowed to cool before being served to them, and everyone gives them the broken biscuits, always.

There are tale tellers, certainly, but theire are also self centered dolts. Maybe slightly more here, as there is sure to be an audience, while in real life, people learnto avoid them, or force a subject change.

I'm not only screaming but when I found out that that poster was a troll, I was literally fuming.

usualsuspect333 · 13/06/2015 23:41

Were you livid and *disgusted^ Klayden?

balletnotlacrosse · 13/06/2015 23:41

It's just a chat and opinion forum. I'm sure some posters do make stuff up, but it's probably about a general issue that concerns them. So they invent a story about an incident concerning a rude neighbour, but it's to get a debate going about inconsiderate neighbours in general.

So what?

crustsaway · 13/06/2015 23:43

what sooty, very defensive posting there. Im just saying I don't and cant really understand why someone would, up to you though.

SilverBirch2015 · 13/06/2015 23:45

I can be a bit naive and often take people's posts at face value initially. About an hour later in RL I think think to myself, well that's really not very likely.Confused I'm actually quite stunned about how many of the drama llamas become so emotionally invested in some threads.

Also in RL I know people who's whole lives are made up with minor dramatic incidents with DCs , ILs, work and so on when the person is seeking advise and emotional support from others. I've gradually realised that their lives are really no different from anyone else's, it's just how they respond to everyday scenarios that most of us just get on with.

usualsuspect333 · 13/06/2015 23:45

I don't care really TBH. I just like calling them out. It's like a game.

Sparklingbrook · 13/06/2015 23:45

A made up story usually has a lot of holes in it. It's quite fun to spot them. If you are going to be a billy bullshit you at least need to remain consistent and remember what you said. Grin

Inconsiderate neighbours threads IMO are about 90% totally made up, 5% possibly true with massive embellishments and made up bits, and 5% that sound vaguely feasible.

WorraLiberty · 13/06/2015 23:46

Klayden you have to be literally 'fumming', otherwise you'll come across as a lightweight.

Just sayin

crustsaway · 13/06/2015 23:46

all this passive aggressive "humour" doesnt do it for me either. that's weird to me, but hey.

Sparklingbrook · 13/06/2015 23:48

Best hide the thread then crusts take your own advice and move on?

I am sat here both seething and frothing Worra. Grin

FarFromAnyRoad · 13/06/2015 23:49

Maybe it's a touch simple of me but I believe that if someone chooses to report on MN it must be worth reporting and if HQ don't agree you'd probably get a withering response and slink off to lick your wounds!
Generally I don't much like tell tale tits Grin but I reserve special contempt for snitches who do it for pleasure or to get someone into trouble - especially in a situation where not snitching would be the bigger thing to do.

OP posts:
crustsaway · 13/06/2015 23:49

Its rather hypocritical to call people out yet be nasty in a sarcastic way? what on earth is that all about or to portray perfectness in the same manner. I personally call them keyboard warriors.
