To wear makeup to the gym?

Dp says it's pointless and too much.

I wear under eye concealer, light foundation, and colour my cheeks so that I don't look half dead!

What about people who wear makeup because of acne/acne scars/facial sacrs......why shouldn't they wear it at the gym?

Sometimes this helps self esteem.....sometimes it's not about vanity.

romeomorningwhisky · 13/06/2015 21:39

I do always come straight home post class & scrub it all off as I'm fully aware sweating in make up can't be great for ones skin

LashesandLipstick · 13/06/2015 23:10

Cardibach why is it hard to believe some of us enjoy wearing makeup? I love makeup. I've done courses in it, I spend time learning new tips, I enjoy putting it on...I genuinely love it. As do many women.

It's not that makeup is basic hygiene but more if you're going to argue for the natural look then why bother wearing nice clothes, styling hair and stuff? And men have other expectations like being shaven and having short hair. A long haired man would be perceived as scruffy but a long haired woman wouldn't.

My point is that any form of "acceptable presentation" isn't "natural" so the animosity to women who wear makeup (not from you but from lots on this thread) is stupid

Well I'm having a make-over lesson tomorrow night from one of the girls at work, so let's see if I'm a convert Grin

I luffs make up.will wear it today. Going to spin later. Make up will be on them sweat attractively off into my towel.

I don't care

TealFanClub · 14/06/2015 11:37

I wouldn't reapply for a dark room tho

GrumpleMe · 14/06/2015 12:38

I don't get the make up at the gym thing either, I must admit. But I'm there to work hard. I don't care what I look like and I don't care what anyone else looks like.

And lol at whoever said you must be very unfit if you end up sweaty at the gym. Grin

Right, I am testing Guerlain's Maxi Lash mascara today, off to Body Combat class. I will hold you lot responsible if I come out all raccoon eyed.

BIWI · 14/06/2015 18:14

Pictures if you do, please Grin

pandarific · 14/06/2015 19:55

Ooooh look at the judgy little comments!

OP, do whatever the feck you like. I personally use waterproof mascara - amazing definition and doesn't budge.

TealFanClub · 14/06/2015 19:57

if i woke up and was going, then planned to change and continue the resft of the day, I wouldn't apply make up because:

  1. its spin, in a dark room
  2. I couldnt be arsed
  3. i would then have to remove make up and reapply
  4. it must add up

but if you want to I dont care.I might do more if it was a bright room or one of these odd sounding classes where you don't sweat. Is that kind of music and movement?

SilverNightFairy · 14/06/2015 21:53

BIWI, I chickened out..bawk, bawk..the one time I worked out with full on make up, I woke up next day with swollen eyes. Swollen so badly, I missed work. I think due to combo of salty sweat and chemicals in eye shadow and mascara. I do have really sensitive eyes, though.

To be sure I do apply Fresh lip balm in Rose, so I don't exactly have that just dug myself out of the grave look before my 5 am class.

Still support Op in whatever gets her to the gym and makes her comfortable.

Isolde85 · 15/06/2015 13:20

OMG this is mental. I wear nice gym clothes! I buy Nike, and fluorescent trainers (actually fluorescent everything atm!!) . It makes me happy to look good. So why not a touch of make up? YANBU at all. Why would you want to look like because you happen to be exercising?

TealFanClub · 15/06/2015 13:36

i dont think gym clothes have to be NIke to be nice...

HayFeverHell · 15/06/2015 13:39

Where I go to the gym, more women are wearing make up than not.

I don't bother, but I am in a minority. (I generally don't wear makeup, unless I am going out in the evening.)

YANBU. You are "normal." Do what makes you comfortable.
