Yes!
I can't think of anything worse than a wet wet wet concert.
If you want to go and no one else wants to go, go on your own. I've been to gigs, cinema etc on my own. No one bats an eyelid.

BeenWondering · 07/06/2015 14:34

Yes YABU! What's the bribe? maybe I'll come with you

ClareAbshire · 07/06/2015 14:34

They did some great tunes, I'm sure if you play her a few tracks she will love them as much as we all did back in the day. Who wouldnt?!

GasLIghtShining · 07/06/2015 14:39

Presumably you have taken her to a number of concerts (and paid for the tickets) which were not your idea of fun so it's pay back time. If she wants you to take her to the her next one then she has to go to WetWetWet.

She might even enjoy it. My DD (18 at the time) came to a Rod Stewart concert and really enjoyed it.

My DH and I go to concerts together but there is one group he will not go to with me. I have told my DD that if I ever manage to get tickets her name will be on the other ticket.

LoveTheWets · 07/06/2015 15:19

Glittery - are you Jarvis Cocker?!

how can you not worship the Wets?

OP posts:
Glitteryfrog · 07/06/2015 15:27

I'd love to be Jarvis but I'm not that cool.
I cannot stand wetwetwet, I was about 11 when that feel in your fingers song was at number one and they were on TOTP every week for what felt like forever.

Also Marty Pello isn't hot... Or not compared to Damon Albarn of the same vintage...

MmeMorrible · 07/06/2015 15:31

My DD and I had the misfortune of seeing Marti Pellow murdering the role of Che in Evita recently. He has not aged well - and really wasn't up to this leading part.

We would both go a long way to avoid seeing him in anything again.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 07/06/2015 15:32

I will come and no need for a bribe, I was one day going to marry marti Pellow, he has the most amazing smile

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 07/06/2015 15:33

OP do it! I took my (then 9 yr old) DD to see Neil Finn last year as I too was billynomates as friend dropped out last minute. She loved it, and I was pleased as punch that she got to see such an awesome legend with me (and enjoyed it too) ??

And if your bribe fails, PM me cos I was thinking along the same lines Grin my 1st gig was the wets at the Glasgow pavilion 28 yrs ago & purely from a nostalgia POV I can't let this pass without going.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 07/06/2015 15:35

To be fair, they all look as rough as a badgers arse now, with maybe the exception of Tommy. He's aged far better than the rest.

IHaveBrilloHair · 07/06/2015 15:39

I'll come, no bribe needed.

OllyBJolly · 07/06/2015 15:40

Can't imagine anything more likely to ruin a night than taking a miserable 11 year old to a concert!

The Wets put on a great show. Don't you have a friend who would jump at the chance? I would.

paddypants13 · 07/06/2015 16:11

I would also come without a bribe. I saw him in The Witches of Eastwick and have had a (guilty) crush on Marty Pellow ever since!

LoveTheWets · 07/06/2015 17:20

Glittery - to be fair, the Wets did pull that song off the market because they were fed up of it after 15 weeks at no. 1 - they could have made you suffer for much longer Grin

MmeMorrible - I didn't see Marti in Evita but have heard clips on YouTube and I'll grant you it wasn't his finest hour. It was wonderful in Blood Brothers - still has a fantastic voice.

DD, are you out there? This sounds familiar...

LoveTheWets · 07/06/2015 17:23

He was wonderful, I mean - not it Blush

Makes list of MNetters on this thread who will join me at Wets concert. Billynomates no more Grin

Took my then 11 year old to see Cliff Richard when friend had to pull out. She pretended to hate it but I know she loved it really, singing along to the ones she knew. Take your DD, despite what mine says, its not child abuse!

Only bribe I had to give was a McD before the concert and a promise that I was never, ever to mention it to any of her friends!

nj32 · 07/06/2015 18:04

I'd love to come! I am trying to bribe family members!

oldspeckledtam · 07/06/2015 18:07

My mother took me to a Monkees concert. I was 15. They were front row seats. I loved it, though I moaned like mad beforehand....

turningvioletviolet · 07/06/2015 18:09

I just saw that Gordon Lightfoot is touring next year although he is old so might have died before then and as no one i know either wants to go or even knows who he is, I am going to purchase a ticket and proudly take my single seat. No shame.

LoveTheWets · 07/06/2015 18:21

Some Gordon Lightfoot - wonderful!

I took my DM to see WetWetWet for her birthday about 10 years ago. We are very much looking forward to seeing them again next year!
When I was little they were staple music in my house and the first album I owned was 'Greatest hits:End of part one' so I know all the words lol.
I've also accompanied mum to George Michael and Robbie Williams. Next weekend we are seeing Take That.

I figure she drove me and my friends all round the country when we were teenagers to go to various gigs and sat in restaurants on her own whilst we had a great time so now is my time to repay her and accompany her to things she likes.

YANBU.

Andrewofgg · 07/06/2015 18:40

If she needs bribing than YABU. She's old enough to decide for herself.

magoria · 07/06/2015 18:41

I will come with you!

He has one of the most amazing voices live.

ImSoCoolNow · 07/06/2015 18:42

Yes!!!
