Has anyone ever BARGED through the barrier they create and shouted STOP HOLDING HANDS FGS YOU ANNOYING PEOPLE?
( or perhaps something snappier?)

marks and spencer today - it was like british bloody bulldog, especially when the man LEADS the woman through the shops, swerving past racks of clothes, creating a four foot wide barrier

Because I'm in your town, where people think it's ok to make people walk in the road so they can cling to each other's hands.

Talk about first world problem...

CrohnicallyInflexible · 07/06/2015 21:40

fiveacres I don't doubt that the majority are just ignorant. However, there is always the chance that one of them is- and you don't know which one!

CrohnicallyInflexible · 07/06/2015 21:41

Oops- missed a word- always the chance that one of them is disabled

LarrytheCucumber · 07/06/2015 21:43

If you have no manners, don't expect manners in return. Confused

Did I say that?

No. You said you gently push through people. You didn't say that you said excuse me before that.

MythicalKings · 07/06/2015 21:53

If you hadn't had the civility to move already then I expect I would say, "Excuse me." Unless I was stunned to silence by the lack of manners.

But on balance, maybe I should just take a trampoline and vault over you.

Where have I said I was a hand holder? Because I'm not.

It's got nothing to do with people having a lack of manners. I'm sure most are oblivious that they are holding people up.

I've been stuck behind people countless times. I've never thought they were doing it on purpose or lacked manners. I certainly would never be stunned to silence by it... maybe because I've never lead a sheltered life.

If you can't even say excuse me and just got straight into barging "gently" into people then you are the one lacking in manners.

MythicalKings · 07/06/2015 22:07

I guess I automatically would break apart into single file approaching someone on a crowded pavement and am bewildered that anyone wouldn't.

completelydisappear · 07/06/2015 22:10

Well I'm referring to if you came up behind people holding hands.

Other way around then I would agree that they should move to the side etc

MythicalKings · 07/06/2015 22:28

Of course. If I'm behind them I would probably hang back if I wasn't in a hurry.

You sound pretty unpleasant yourself improbablebee

susanstryingterm · 08/06/2015 11:32

I agree Hap. Nasty post.

currently hand-holding isn't usually possible for me (we always have at least one pram when we're out, quite often 2 if it's too much walking for the two-year-old)

but I hate my walking stick (don't need it if I have the pram) and only use it for ballance so quite often in the past I've held hands with whoever I'm with - friends, family, partner - so that I didn't wobble over.

And before the physical issue occured, I used to cling like mad to the hand of whoever I was with to help me control the rising panic attack.

Presumably I have looked like I'm into some weird group thing at times, when friends have "swapped me" between them (knowing why I needed to meant they were all willing) or even incest when I've been out with my brother - his partners have had to be understanding that at times he'd drop their hands to hold mine. Or they would hold mine anyway.

I look "normal" btw.

But I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that your irritation with hand-holding was more important than my need to be somewhere without going catatonic with fear, or my need to walk without falling over. I'll just stop being such an arsehole and suck it up next time, cure my disabilities and fix the scar in my brain so it can't happen again!

YABVU.

foxinsocks Those people were arses for not obeying the Underground golden room- stand to the right, let people walk past on the left. I hope everyone else followed suit.
