Is it wrong that we were disgusted by this?

I fully expect to be shot down in flames...

Myself and my wife were walking to the bus stop this morning, ahead of us down the street a mother and her young girl in a pushchair exited a house and walked in the same direction before disappearing round the corner. As we turned the corner we saw the girl standing at the bus stop with her mum, the girl was standing with her trousers and nappy down and was weeing all over the pavement. The mum clocked us and as the girl finished very hurriedly dressed the girl before putting her back in the pushchair and walking off.

I know that when a kid needs to go it's pretty urgent but this was a busy path was alongside a busy main road and they'd only left the house three minutes ago. My wife works in childcare and even she couldn't believe it, is this acceptable or should we have said something?

From your OP:

"Myself and my wife were walking to the bus stop this morning,"

But now you say you didn't see her doing this until you were already on a moving bus?

So presumably they had covered some distance from their house by then and wouldn't have made it back in time.

NoIsNotACompleteSentence · 06/06/2015 13:36

I've potty trained (hate that expression!) all my DC and I think it's gopping to piss in the street, child or not. If it had been a bloke with his willy out peeing at the bus stop, there would be outrage!

Also, IMO, you just let your DC wee whenever, at the exact instant they need to, they don't learn to "hold it in" - a useful life skill for us all Grin

And yes, a clear reminder of why outdoor shoes being worn in the house are A Bad Thing...

WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:39

Oh FFS.

The girl was pissing at the bus stop, as we approached the bus stop the girls mum pulled her nappy etc up and they carried on walking. A little while later we got on the bus and as we drove past the local park we saw the girl and her mum going in.

Happy?

People are going to question. You should put all the facts in your OP.

Grin Midnight

NoIsNotACompleteSentence · 06/06/2015 13:39

Hmmm.

If you were on the bus, how exactly would you have "said something" as you said in your OP.

AuntOlive · 06/06/2015 13:40

I've seen adult males pissing at bus stops too.

WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:41

We were within shouting distance by the time we approached the bus stop.

Honestly, I feel like I'm being interrogated by MI5 lol.

OP posts:
WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:42

Yes and the adult males doing that are disgusting, I'm not quite sure what your point is?

OP posts:
Petitgrain · 06/06/2015 13:42

But why has it bothered you so much that you've come on here to start a thread about it? Are you disgusted by wee? Or seeing little girls with their nappy off? Do you have children?

Eminado · 06/06/2015 13:42

Grown men can't seem to control their bladders on nights out despite being surrounded by pubs with suitable toilets. I have far more sympathy for a small child who can't manage to make it more than a few feet away from a toilet so YABU."

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/06/2015 13:45

Grin rude?, I don't think so.

I don't think you should let such things as a young child having a wee in public take up space in your head.

TheFairyCaravan · 06/06/2015 13:45

How do you know she had a nappy on if you were only "within shouting distance" of them?

awaits to be told OP's wife looks after said child and she told him

WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:45

I'm disgusted by people pissing in public, if that invokes the wrath of MN then so be it.

No we don't have children, I have a disability that means it might be more hassle than it's worth by having children however we haven't ruled them out.

OP posts:
AuntOlive · 06/06/2015 13:46

The point Wayne, Pot, kettle?

Tbh your statement of being within 'shouting distance' implies you're quite aggressive. If I'd said anything, which I wouldn't have, I certainly wouldn't have shouted it.

WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:46

TheFairyCaravan I have eyes that's how I know Grin

OP posts:
Petitgrain · 06/06/2015 13:47

I think it's a bit creepy that you've thought about it this much.

WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:47

I'm aggressive by using the words shouting distance? Haha okay think what you want.

OP posts:
WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:48

I think it's creepy that people are piling in and trying to trip me up but what do I know.

OP posts:
BigRedBall · 06/06/2015 13:51

You still haven't answered if maybe the mother and daughter were from a different culture?

ollieplimsoles · 06/06/2015 13:51

I can't believe this thread is still going on.

OP is PERSONALLY grossed out by people peeing on the street, thats a personal thing though- many busy mums know thay sometimes you have to let your kid wee on the street! So people are going to disagree!

TheFairyCaravan · 06/06/2015 13:51

So do I Wayne but I would find it hard to tell the difference between a pair of white pants and a nappy from afar.

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2015 13:52

What a weird thing to start a thread about. I think the thread's creepy.

WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:56

Just for you Fairy I asked my wife, she says they were pants. So I stand corrected.

As far as I could see I'd say they were white british but appearances can be deceiving. I'm not sure what culture allows children in a developed country to piss in public, I'm not going to google it either.

Ah well.

OP posts:
WayneRooneysHair · 06/06/2015 13:57

Sparklingbrook why is it creepy?

OP posts:
Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 06/06/2015 13:58

No you were right not to say anything. It's none of your business. And she probably wouldn't have thanked you anyway.
Also it is perfectly legal to allow a child to wee in public
I mean if it were the mother weeing in the street by all means cats bum about it, but a baby is a different kettle of fish.
The only thing that concerns me is. It's not very hygienic is it. I just hope the mother had hand wash with her.
